I'm a young at heart and mind, Finnish millennial guy (44). I'm an introvert purely by choice, but definitely not shy or boring! I enjoy many things, especially those that support personal growth, and I try to cultivate a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally. You won't find me in nightclubs and I don't use substances, but I enjoy life in many other natural ways and I probably have a few too many hobbies.

I’m into technology, ICT, math, gaming, and spending time outdoors. Musicwise, I mostly listen to rock and metal.

I’m very open-minded, and there’s hardly any topic I wouldn't be open to discussing. I’m a thinker by nature I love analyzing and exploring all sorts of things. I'm interested in worldviews, deep topics, a bit of politics, and even some lighthearted conspiracy theory nonsense.

It’s always a bit tricky to capture everything about myself and my life in a text post, but I can safely say there's plenty of depth and character to me.

I’m hoping to find like-minded people to chat with and build online friendships. Having shared interests certainly makes keeping the conversation going a lot easier!

Age, gender, or background don't matter to me at all just come as you are.

Who knows if a friendship might grow deeper over time, but I'm definitely not forcing anything. I am not looking for a romantic relationship or anything weird purely just like-minded conversation partners and penpals.

What is it, about the tap-tap-tap of the rain, that is so soothing? Is it the heartbeat of the earth, at long last slowing down?

What is it, about the swissshhhh of the rain on tree tops, that is so calming? Is it the sighing of the earth, out of relief from the scorching of the sun?

Yes, Yes, I should be burying my head inside the computer screen, typing feverishly... but the heart wants what it wants, no?

I can't but imagine the rolling mountains that burst forth with life, shades of green, red earth, and gurgling brooks, little gumboots splattering water on sidewalks, squeals from children dancing in the rains. Damn, these rains, they are evil, they churn my imagination, thaw out my soul, frozen deep under code and software architecture.

I'm male, 52, software professional, poet at heart, flautist by discipline, sculptor by passion, chef by hobby. When I'm away from the 2D world of code, I love creating sculptures on wood, writing and playing the doumbek.

So, since I had mixed results with my previous curious pen pal application, I figured I’d try something a little different.

Show of hands. Who here knew how to get down on a pair of roller skates back in the day?

I vaguely remember being able to skate backwards on one skate, which either means I had talent or a complete disregard for my own safety. I honestly couldn’t tell you how many laps I logged while The Gap Band’s “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” echoed through the rink speakers. It was practically an Olympic event.

There was always that one couple who could skate in perfect sync, the birthday kid inhaling pizza and sheet cake, someone desperately trying not to fall during the couples skate, and at least one show off weaving through everyone like they were auditioning for the Roller Derby Hall of Fame.

I’m seriously considering buying another pair of skates. Worst case, I break a bone. Best case, I rediscover a little piece of my youth.

Either way, it got me thinking.

Hello! 51F, married, living in Scotland who is in the quieter stage of life. Being all too familiar with the comfort of solitude, I find myself wanting to rebel against it and quietly hoping I’m not the only one. What probably makes this “finding a friend”malarkey more challenging is moving across an entire ocean in the prime of adulthood, and leaving behind the things which would make it less quiet.

I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and learning about what makes them tick, and I prefer a slow exchange of information and revelation. The tendency to share everything all at once, creates the illusion of “connection”, but anything meaningful and worthwhile comes with patience, time and understanding. We all have our trials and tribulations in life, and having someone who can understand, uplift and encourage can feel like an oasis in a desert. I’m very much the sort who’ll ask you to tell me about your day; encourage you to share the highlights and the lowlights, because speaking for myself, having good news and someone to share it with, or facing a challenge and getting a fresh perspective can make a difference.

Some of the things I enjoy are listed in my profile, perhaps we’ll find common ground as a starter for ten? I’m from the UK and blissfully self contained, which is just a polite way of saying I quite like my own company and haven’t yet driven myself mad. I’ve somehow mastered the dark art of being both a night owl and an early riser, which mostly means I exist in a permanent state of caffeinated bewilderment.

I’m just the bloke next door though, a husband and father. My marriage is... fine. I go to work and perform the mandatory 'office social dance' with colleagues I have zero intention of befriending. Why? Because most of them radiate the charm of a mouldy apple. (F) Hello.  It was my birthday yesterday..I was 60. My daughter informed me that if someone gives you a birthday badge you have to wear it "d'ems the rules". So I wore my badge. Everyone I saw wished me happy birthday, even the man in the fish and chip shop and the train guard.  So although at first I was cringing with embarrassment, by the end of the day it felt quite uplifting.

I live on a narrowboat (42ft x 6ft 9) in the UK. At present I am just on the border of England and Wales. The border is 10ft from my boat. I move to a new location at least every 14 days.

There is a badger sett nearby and I have tried to film the badgers on my trail-cam, but so far I have filmed two cats, a barn owl and two foxes. No badgers.  I realised after spotting one of the foxes with a rodent in its mouth that I had inadvertently set up a smorgasbord of rodents for the local predators by putting down food for the badgers. 

Thats about as exciting as my life has been this week.

Good morning from a sunny England.
As I’m writing this from the first few hours of my shift, I’m pondering why I’m bothering with Reddit as it generally isn’t filled with real people or the real people don’t respond when they “want to chat” so I thought I’d give this a go.

I’m 40 and live in the southwest in England, I’m single but recently divorced, I have 2 kids, one is 11 and the other is 7 next month. My shifts as a trucker are early starts so a email friend or penpal from anywhere in the world would be amazing to talk too as it’s probably in the afternoon for you so we can keep each other company.

My interests are movies, fitness, recently taken up paddle boarding and motorcycles. I generally get on with all types of live as we only live once and everyone has their own story to tell and share so we can all learn. My music taste is unique, I love a good country song but my Spotify is filled from 50 cent to 00’s trance.
