Non-meme discussion: How do you guys think Goto was made?
Reiko/Ryoko mentions creating him as an experiment but as far as I can tell(I've only just finished reading the manga, haven't watched the anime yet) there was no explanation of how this was accomplished.
We see examples of parasytes having difficulties changing their "roles" in a body after their initial infection phase ends. Migi can only stay an arm, Jaw can only stay a jaw.
The best I can imagine is Reiko/Ryoko somehow located five "failed" parasytes, convinced them and their hosts to get together in one place, and then Frankenstein'd them together. That's a pretty big leap of faith for the five parasytes since if it didn't work out they'd all be done for(Imagine being Right Leg, killing your host to participate in becoming Goto, except it's a fuckup and you discover too late that the dumbass in charge of Torso can't figure out how to reroute circulation so you just die!)
Edit: Just remembered the "failed" parasyte that got stuck being a dog's head. Maybe she found five parasytes which had infected various animals and convinced them it's better to risk the coinflip than spend the rest of their lives as squirrels?

Venom, and morphing appendages
I wish more parasites/symbiotes have abilities more akin to parasyte than Venom
I love Venom don't get me wrong but he seems a little bit underutilized.
Shinichi smashing that car with his palm? The ROCK(/arrow) he blasted through the other parasyte? Venom could but he would NEVER.
The scene when Shinichi was dodging morphing tentacles was so cool...
Venom is all teeth and little creativity.

one scene I wish was handled differently Spoiler
I'm rewatching parasyte for the 3rd time, his mom was already dead and the parasite had taken over her body, but I wish shinichi recovered her body to give his dad some closure, after all he already had superhuman abilities at the point.
he never gets to have a funeral or proper grief, from his perspective, she just disappeared
I get that the story is probably showing how cruel and unresolved loss can be but it would be so powerful if shinichi had been able to bring her back to her family one last time
in a way, even if the parasite had taken over her body, it was only her brain, the rest of her was still, well, her.
I feel like she and her body still deserved more dignity, than for her body to be remembered by shinichi as the parasite and not his mom. not because it would've brought her back, but because it would've allowed shinichi and his father to bury her, not the parasite. she couldve been thought of as his mother, one last time.
did anyone else feel this way ?

they should've gone bald Spoiler
if the parasites were bald the whole hair thing wouldnt be a thing
they should've all shaved their heads in a close shave, then they wouldn'tve been discovered by their hair, or just take the face and non hair of some bald headed person...
though some of them are obviously extremely weird and not fitting normal societal standards like the girl that couldn't use the damn belt like cmon
I'm rewatching the show drunk so I'm over noticing small details but it's funny

What Parasytes would think of vegans?
I was wondering, since in story, Parasytes often give it as some high arguement that ''humans eat animals too, actually more?''
many humans don't in seek of minimalising harm, some do this out of religious reasons or purity of own body

Conchsnails are parasytes!

I just found out about conch snails, and they're amazing! they have the eye stalks, the weird snooty mouth, and a pseudopod with a sickle shaped claw. Their basically Migi, if they were more colorful!
If you wanna see video of the real life migi in action, I recommend this Video, where he covers Conches around 12:30 minutes in
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51PBhV1-BW0
Btw, this video talks specifically about how they dislike AI, so atleast the footage shown from 12:40 onward is what I would consider a trusted source.
Edit: specifically around 14:05, that's just Migi if they were drunk xD

Parasyte is a trash masterpiece Spoiler
This seems so weird to say, but that's how I feel. I am not saying it's a bad anime, I loved it in fact. However, I have a lot of things that I am dissapointed about, so I want to discuss them here.
First point: Shinichi Identity
Throughout the whole anime, we see how kana always ask "are you really shinichi?", we see his friends saying he changed, we see parasytes saying he is dangerous, we see migi analysing his behaviour, yet still, we weren't introduced to what shinichi thinks of himself for a singls time. We didn't enter his mind once, didn't see at all his view on his identity, we didn't dive into his thoughts about what he had become and it's really annoying.
Second point: Shinichi mind (again)
You telling me this boy who suffered several traumas; his mother got killed by the same thing he posses, his lover hated him gradually, his father got drunk and depressed after the death of his mom, leaving him all alone. After all of this, all we got is the anime showing us he got "colder", what about his thoughts during all of this bro, I really hoped to see it and live his pain through this psychological torture he suffered, it would have really made things more intersting, and deepend the plot and made us understand the charachter more.
Third point: Shinichi and Reiko Tamura
I may or may not be overexaggerating this point.
Throughout the anime we see how shinichi gradually looses his humanity and glimpses of how Reiko gains hers. They needed to interact more than that, we needed to see this clash in values and transformation, to show us how the two links of the two worlds thought of these worlds, and of each other. If this had happened, it would have shown more of the complexity of humans, and it would have served the anime's investigation of humans and their morals so well. Moreover, it would have showed us, what made Reiko sacrifice herself in the end, how much did the baby affect her, and why in particular did she choose shinichi. We know she was interested in him, but why entrusting the baby to him?
Fourth point: The baby
After Reiko sacrifice, the best seen in the whole anime I would dare to say, all for this human baby born from this parasite, entrusted to a human losing himself. As I said, why? Then, where did it go?????? Like it really pmo to after all that hype the baby got ignored completely. It irritated me, like why would you do such a peak plot to get rid of him after the incident. Keeping it would have introduced a new dimension of relations in shinichi life - a mental challenge of raising a the child of a parisite, nevertheless a parasite he hated- , giving more depth to the plot, and emphasizing Reiko Tamura decisions, giving us more to know about her.
And the fifth and final point:
Migi dissapearence came out of nowhere. We sae glimpses of how he began to change, he began carimg for shinichi, and while he refused to say it, he began showing sympathy in the end, and when shinchi considered him a friend, migi was still unsure about his feelings, it was all so good. Then suddenly, dissapeard.
These points are all small points that may go unnoticed (except for tha baby), so I think the anime was fairly good. However, it had the potential to be a masterpiece, and in my opinion was ruined by the things I said.
Sorry for the long post, and for the pronunciation/grammar mistakes.

I can't find the Japanese language/English sub anywhere
I watched parasyte several times through the years on Netflix and Crunchyroll, but it's been awhile and now I can only find it English dub on hidive through prime; the English dub just feels so off to me because I've always just watched it sub and it's ruining it for me. Can I watch the Japanese language with eng subs streaming?
