Was listening to BNE and where the lines overlap started playing, the song is so joyful. I’m sure they made it to try to bring the band some positive energy during those trying times of the BNE era. Which ultimately is saddening that it didn’t work out, however, the song itself I believe is overlooked heavily. Tell me what you think. 💗

It’s been my phone background for a while because I’ve always loved it, but I’ve never been able to figure out what concert/performance it’s from. me and my band been trying to lean on to the pop punk/ alternative rock music and we are trying to write something in the style of paramore. do yall have any suggestions on how to make that happen? things like time signatures, how to make the lead guitar sound like that ( their lead parts have always seemed out of this world to me), structures anything. (im talking about their early stuff like “all we know is falling”, “riot” and especially “brand new eyes”. (i play guitar btw)

So, just a quick backstory: I got into a Paramore concert footage rabbit hole and I came across a video of Grudges live, and then I looked down on the recommendations tab just to get bombarded with trendy, drama-essay videos, and I came across a video from "marcelomontalvao" titled "The Most Self-Inflicted Downfall in Music History | Paramore" with an Internet Anarchist/SunnyV2-like thumbnail.

I usually just ignore these videos, as well as everything else that looks like it's DESPERATE for attention because every form of attention benefits and encourages these types of videos and bahaviors, but at the same time, I felt like I've been trapping myself in a bubblethat isn't trying to hear out the other side, so I decided to take a leap.

The video gave no credit and cited no sources. I really wanted to hear him out so I did some research, and my first stop was Wikipedia, and then everything took a left turn. It felt like driving in a racetrack and all of a sudden I lost downforce and my car starts flying, and it turns out there's a whole other course in the air called heaven.

I basically spent all night making this after not having any proper sleep these past two days, so my eyes are quite fuzzy making this.

Let me tell you: this shit is poop.

Some post-game analysis here, you can see a lot of cheap, lazy tactics here commonly seen among plagiarists, such as replacing a person's surname with their first name ("Hayley" instead of "Williams"), as well as adding morsels of "personality" that deviate from Wikipedia's straight, more professional delivery, as well as cutting off a few sentences just so it wouldn't look too obvious.

This often results in logical gaps and "plot holes" (dunno if that works here) in the information you're giving, and since the type of genre of content he's playing with, which is supposed to be rooted in facts, this is very alarming. You can plagiarize from the most credible source there is and point your audiences to the truth, but the second you omit any piece of information on the news you're reporting, the truth becomes more obfuscated with people trying to fill up those holes in an attempt to make sense out of the situation at hand.

It's not just the omission that's the problem, there's also the loads of crucial information that gets ignored as a result of plagiarizing one big source in the pursuit of convenience or seeking deadlines demanded by the algorithm. One point that seems to be ignored in the video is that Hayley Williams was always open about her solo contract with Atlantic and what that meant among the members and the fans, stating that Josh Farro's critiques have already been managed by the group.*

Another thing that I can't help but notice is the possible defence that might get bought up. When quoting people, the YouTuber flashes a cropped screenshot of articles he got the information from, but makes no attempt at naming where those screenshots came from, it's up to the viewer to just recognize how it looks, and the most common one is Wikipedia.

Take note of the second instance of plagiarism shown on top. He only shows the lines which include the quote, telling you, the viewer that he's reading off of something in that instance, and everything before and after that flash is original, except it isn't. He isn't just reading you the quote from Wikipedia, HE'S READING THE WHOLE PARAGRAPH FEEDING IT TO YOU AS IF IT'S HIS OWN. He's literally taking credit for a paragraph someone else wrote, and sprinkling it with his own "style" to cover it up further.

Speaking of style, this feels like another way of covering up your plagiarism on video. Just by listening to someone, you can hear whether or not they're reading off of something. Reading in of itself is not a bad thing, scripts exist, but the hard part is knowing if that script was original. The thing is, this guy isn't taking the script route. He's trying to be more natural and spontaneous as if he's just reading off of bullet points instead of a script by fluctuating his voice and putting emphasis on the most random places.

And one last thing: in the moments where he's not plagiarizing, he's just padding the video completely with the most unnecessary information there is, showing and reading full paragraphs... from fans on Facebook and Reddit? Funny thing, these random comments get better credit than actual sources of information he's taking from. Just showing the pure laziness and lack of thought that takes place in this video.

Closing off, doing this kind of reminded me of HBomberGuy and his video(s) on plagiarism. Despite the comedic nature of his videos, at the end of the day, you're being taught on what plagiarism is, the many ways you can spot it, and how dangerous it genuinely is.

During his conclusion on his almost-4-hour video, he spoke about how he felt bad making that video, calling it a "drama" video, and that he's no better than the people he's calling out. Prior to this pool of shit that I've made, I didn't really get him. I just thought that he's just calling out bad behavior, and whatever happens to the plagiarists did the damage themselves. While I think that it still is true, I now understand his guilt. Deep down, we all have the same goal of finding our place in this world, but there are some who are willing to step on others.
