I decided after so long to finally make another variable-geometry aircraft and decided on the MiG-23.

This plane was a nightmare to design. The way I do variable sweep is that I make two wing templates and a shared wing tab. The problem with that is I need to make a camo for this plane.

Designing that camo was extremely difficult because I wanted it to be the same on both wing designs. I had to overlay the unswept version on top of the swept one and design the rest of the camo, which was painful.

But I REALLY love this design. It flies quite well and imitates the real flight characteristics in my opinion (the swept forward one sometimes gets into a flatspin.) Overall, this has to be one of my favourite designs I’ve done so far.

So here it is, I delayed this jet for quite long due to the cockpit issues and finally came up with this workaround. Basically, I copy pasted the wings and tails of the F-14 with some modifications to make the wings easier to make and move. The cockpit section directly took notes from my F-104 Starfighter

MiG-17

I love Cold War jets, so I decided to finally make the MiG-17 into a paper model.

This is certainly one of my favourite paper airplanes. I like the flight performance of it as well as the detail. It flies really fast, although it is prone to pitching up and yawing. This is probably why they added wing fences to it in real life, which this paper airplane doesn‘t have. Interestingly, it appears to be more stable with anhedral wings, which is strange because usually anhedral is unstable in flight.

I really love this specific paper airplane. It’s a nice and fast model that enjoys high speed flights.

Super Étendard

I wanted to make another European jet that was simple and I found the Super Étendard, a simple French strike aircraft. What made it interesting to me is that it was subsonic in an era where supersonic aircraft were very prevalent.

So I decided to turn it into a paper airplane. The livery was fun to design (I really like blue naval liveries) and the design itself was pretty straightforward. It also flies quite well indoors.

Looks like I stayed at the park too long again. I wasn't trying to launch too hard, I already lost one flinging it into orbit. So, nothing fancy, just a nice gentle glide.

F-105 “Thud”

The “Thud” is an interesting plane in my opinion. What caught my eye was the forward-swept intakes, which were really interesting. I also like the look of the plane.

So I decided to make it into a paper airplane. The forward swept intakes made it quite wonky to attach to the fuselage. I also had to trim the weight balancing parts a little, although it didn’t really affect the plane a lot.

But I LOVE how this plane turned out. The camo is just iconic and it looks quite smooth. It also flies quite well for a heavy plane, although it isn’t much of a glider just like the real thing.

Now, the last plane in the Century series to make is the F-102 Delta Dagger. I’m probably going to make that soon…

F-101 Voodoo

I’m trying to complete my collection of the whole Century series of aircraft. Right now I’ve made the F-100, F-104, F-106, and now the F-101.

This plane was really easy to design but it is a pain to fly. It’s hopelessly unstable in the roll axis when flying and when I got it to work, it would often deepstall just like the real thing. It’s very long fuselage combined with the small wings also makes it suceptible to warping.

But it at least flies acceptable indoors! I still have two more aircraft from the Century Series (not counting the XF-103 and XF-108) to make. The F-102 will probably be really easy but the F-105 is going to be really difficult.

Also u/Total-Platform6132 I will be working on your two requests soon. I’m just building the designs I had designed but not yet built.

I decide to drop this right before my Birthday so I can have a short break. This is another design that I once considered impossible with the Jayson Merrill design language, but still I tried and made this after some out of the box brainstorming.

This is one of two planes I built to compare flight characteristics (the planes are called Arm and Hammer). I got it all tuned up and filmed this flight, where it deftly maneuvered through the pine branches and lived to see another day!

I'm not gonna press my luck any further, so I'm heading home. 😂
