Question Does anyone in Pakistan use a thermal cooker? Considering that solar power isn't available at night, I’d rather not cook after dark given the high cost of electricity there.

Upvotes

Naturally, I end up cooking after 6 PM these days. But by that time, I can't use solar power anymore, so I’m forced to buy electricity from the grid at exorbitant rates. Cooking—especially simmering—consumes a lot of power, and if I were to run the air conditioner on top of that, I’d go bankrupt. So, I have to cook in sweltering heat.

I considered installing a battery system, but the cost is astronomical.

That’s when I thought about using a thermal cooker.

Apparently, they can maintain a temperature that prevents bacterial growth for about six to eight hours. I figured if I put the food in the cooker at 2 PM, it would stay safe until I eat it at 10 PM. In Chinese, it's written as "免火再煮锅" (don't burn the pot again).

Unlike standard thermal cookers—which can only maintain the high heat needed to prevent bacteria (especially *Clostridium botulinum*) for about two hours—these models hold the heat much longer.

Is there anyone else who has considered this or is already doing it?

They’re much cheaper than a battery system, but still far more expensive than a regular pot, so I’m on the fence about it.

Discussion Tried Broadway Pizza for the First Time

Broadway and their paper-thin pizza.

Today I ordered their Trio Box with a medium pizza (Kebab Crust), and honestly, the pizza was shockingly thin, literally Like Ghar khee Roti is sy Thick Hothee. It was one of the most disappointing pizza experiences I've had.

I usually order from Domino's or 14th Street, and their pizzas are really good. This was my first time trying Broadway, and it definitely didn't live up to the hype.

My ratings:

  • 🍕 Pizza: Meh (Taste bhee Average)
  • 🥣 Dips: Good
  • 🌯 Rolls: Good
  • 🍝 Pasta: Average

Overall, I don't think I'll be ordering pizza from Broadway again.

Question Any places where i can buy different flavoring agents in affordable prices?

I'm often trying to make things that wld require use of some flavoring agents, like cheese, chicken, beef etc and the thing is they are not easily available. I wld also like to formulate my own flavoring packets and bases as well if i can get my hands on the ingredients in the first place. Does anyone vendors or shops i can buy them from and like in quantities that won't break my bank?

I'm looking for options for both natural and artificial options, and stuff like hydrolysed vegetable protein, yeast extract etc

Hotel/Restaurant Se Calories of Food in Pakistani Restaurant dishes

Hey guys! Does anyone have any idea about the approximate calories and protein in some of these popular dishes in Karachi?

  1. Aristo – Alfredo Pasta
  2. The Croissant Guy – Beef Croissant Sandwich
  3. The Nood – Hotpot

Trying to roughly track my macros when eating out—would super appreciate it if anyone has an estimate or has calculated these before
