What does this mean?
Is this just a generic email? I haven’t completed a secondary.

There was a discrepancy between how rules were being displayed on old vs new Reddit (i.e. they were completely different).
Rule 2 is (and has been):
Due to an influx of spam posts, we have set AutoModerator to automatically remove a post/comment if an account is brand new or has less than 25 karma. There are no exceptions to this rule. We will not approve your post if you do not meet the account age (2 days) or karma (25) thresholds.
Hopefully this is better reflected now and should be visible on new Reddit.

Anyone know how much movement happens during this time? And what’s the number count on the accepted student GC?

hi everyone, I am applying to this current cycle. I have been trying to get in contact with my organic chemistry professor who wrote my science letter recommendation three years ago to have him update the date to this year. I reached out to one of the schools that I did not hear back from who prescreen for secondaries and they told me they would prefer an updated letter with the updated date to be sent to them. I told them I was having issues contacting the professor since I have been out of school for over a year and the Admissions person told me that they can reach out on my behalf. They reached out today and within 30 minutes he sent the updated letter of Recommendation with the updated date. I’m not sure what to do because I’ve been contacting him for over six months and he has not updated my letter of recommendation through Interfolio, but he sent it to the medical school as they emphasize that they needed an updated date on the letter. I tried calling Interfolio and they told me that they can also send an email out to stress to him, but again I’m not sure what to do if he does not update that letter onto Interfolio. I’m honestly so annoyed because I’m not sure why he has not been responding to me, but he was able to respond to the medical school that needed him to update the date. They told me that I was then good for getting the secondary but some of the schools that I apply to require it within two years so I’m not sure if I should individually reach out to them. I do have another science letter recommendation that was updated with the date, and I have already reached out to some programs who told me that it was fine, but I would rather not have this be another thing stacked against me and just update it.
And does anyone know if you can send schools individual letter of recommendations through Interfolio instead of sending it through AACOMAS. please let me know thank you

Basically the title, I have a couple interviews in August for Nova Patel and ACOM. I’m only really seeing mock interviews that cost like $399-$500. Should I spend the money or ask a physician to do a mock interview with me?

Hi! I submitted my secondary for RVUCOM (colorado campus) a few days (a week and a half or so) back and have noticed that the "My Application Checklist" in the portal isn't updating/didn't update even when submitting my secondary. Is this happening to anyone else? Just wanted to check before I reach out to troubleshoot because I've heard about issues with the portal. TIA! :)

Hello,
I am an incoming DO student. I have spoken to a few upperclassmen and they have all told me to have an idea of the things I want to do from the start rather than waiting for third year. For me personally I have always been interested in sports medicine and Ortho. I know automatically it will be harder to match as a DO, what are some things I can do off the bat to get a head start. Do I attend conferences? Go heavy on research? If you guys can give me advice that would help.

Hey guys, I am struggling with building a list, I keep seeing opposite opinions online or dead reddit threads from 8 years ago.
I am a VA resident with a 508 mcat, I've currently applied to Rowan, MSU, PCOM, and VCOM.
I'm most interested in DO schools that have a lot of support from their state/neighboring clinical in case I decide primary care is not for me.
I was thinking of adding NYIT-COM and DMU? Are those good choices for me as well?

hi everyone! can anyone who applied to this program share any insights into what it was like? for context im an OOS applicant but very strong ties to OH (went to college here, pursued my clinical hours and research here, shadowed DO here). When do they send out interviews and will it help my app stand out as an OOS?
I am also genuinely interested in family med and the linkage to their residency programs at Cleveland Clinic.

anyone get into MSUCOM w/ low stats? I went undergrad here, and a lot of my letter writers went here as well alongside my DO letter. High GPA of 3.9 and low MCAT of 502

Hey all, I was just sent the supplemental application invite from BUCOM but the link they sent me goes to AACOMAS. Does that make sense? Thanks in advance!

So I applied DO this previous cycle ('25-'26) and got multiple secondaries, 2 interviews -- was waitlisted for both schools
I'm nontrad, graduated May 2021, about to turn 27 y/o next month. Was really hoping to start med school this Fall. Now that I did not get in, not sure if I want to spend another year applying, when med school isnt guaranteed. I just feel old, have taken enough gap years, want to already be in school and get a move on with my life.
Stats: cGPA ~3.49, sGPA: 3.4 MCAT (took 3x) 489 --> 489 --> 492 . ~ was a Certified Medical Asst from 2021 - 2023, Clinical Research Coordinator from 2024 - present
What should I do? I know if I want to reapply, I HAVE to retake the MCAT and do much better, that was probs what held me back last cycle. But idk if I have it in me.
So now my options are: Reapply (Retake MCAT), Caribbean Med School, or apply for PA or NP program (before i can apply for either of those, I need to take Anatomy & Physiology I & II w/ lab b/c I never took that in college)
What would you do in my shoes? any advice? what is my best option in your opinion?
any feedback or advice is appreciated :) you can also msg me if its easier
FORGOT TO MENTION: I’m also discouraged about reapplying bc i haven’t been in school since 2021 and Idk if I can get a hold of my professors to still write me a letter :/

I am applying next year, and as I meet more physicians, I am starting to undersand my "why" for osteopathic medicine. My only real hope for the programs I apply to is that they are in urban/city areas.
So far, I am thinking I will applying to. DUQCOM, NYIT-LI, MU-COM (in-state), PCOM, and CCOM.
The ones I am on the fence about are TouroCOM, MSU, and XU-COM. Should I them to the list? And any other good schools?
Stats:
3.7 GPA. MCAT TBD (505-508 FLs, still have 4 more before exam date). 3000 clincal at time of app. ~500 bladder cancer research (expected 1 pub + 1 pres). 2 semesters TAing genetics/cell bio. ~600 of various ECs (Dance team, cultural dev/ mental health/high school ambassador clubs).

So I just joined the LECOM informational session because my interview is due tomorrow. there are 140 people in this session alone, and they said they start looking at your PS, LOR, and MCAT/GPA after interview. I thought schools consider that stuff before your interview. Is LECOM just an outlier?

Hello, guys, I have an interview coming up soon with PNWU, online in the coming week. I was wondering what type of questions they ask. I'm not the best at interviewing, but their mission does resonate a lot with me.

Hi everyone,
I've decided that I'm not ready to take my MCAT yet. Unfortunately, all of the August and September test dates are already full, so my only option is to take it in January 2027. While that's not what I originally planned, I actually feel much more comfortable with that timeline because it will give me enough time to thoroughly review the content, complete plenty of practice questions, and take multiple full-length exams.
That said, I still really want to apply during the current 2026–2027 application cycle. My goal is to start medical school in Fall 2027, and I'd really like to avoid waiting another year and matriculating in Fall 2028.
My questions are:
I'm honestly open to attending any DO school if given the opportunity, including schools like KansasCOM or LMU-DCOM. I just want to know if applying with a January MCAT is still a viable path.
I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!

has anyone received secondaries for Touro NV or COMP?
r/Osteopathic • u/Additional_Manner_26 • 1d ago
I submitted primaries by end of May (don’t remember exact date) but haven’t heard back from ARCOM, BUCOM, KansasCOM, VCOM, and Marian. Should I email the schools or is it still too early in the cycle?
