What a relaxing and wonderful time in Lincoln City, Newport and Depot Bay! I love it there and maybe someday can make it my home. The mixture of the ocean beaches with the mountains and scenic views is extraordinary. Thank you for the inspiring beauty!

Does anyone know what happened to the post from a few days ago that showed a very strange object in the clouds over the ocean from Cannon Beach? Very long tentacle looking arms extending out of a base with what looked like the end of a very large just under it. It was posted to this sub about 4 days ago and now it’s gone.

hi all. we bought a major fixer upper and basically the whole yard had to be gutted, graded, and have french drains installed. it’s a blank slate and we’re looking for recommendations for a landscape / hardscape designer that can build us a dreamy whimsical front and back yard. we love to garden, but want professionals with a good reputation and photos to back up their work when it comes to properly installing pavers, flagstone, dry river beds, etc.

i’ve found a ton of amazing businesses inland but they won’t do work on the central coast. and i’ve been calling ground fx almost every month for 3 years (i wanted them for my last house too) and they have absolutely zero availability. she just keeps telling me to try next month.

and not to be rude, but i’m not interested in any “i can do it” or “my buddy can help” comments. we want a licensed landscape / hardscape contractor with a website and reviews.

I will be traveling to the Bandon/Coos Bay Area for vacation and am trying to figure out if it is possible to rent bikes and ride the beach in this region. The idea for this came through the travel Oregon site and in my excitement to bike this area, I booked a hotel before having the plans for the ride put together. Now that I have looked thoroughly, it appears that all the hike rental shops in this section of coast are closed? I’m looking to get a fat tire bike, does anyone know of any solutions in that area?

Hello, I live in Gold Beach, and I am interested in dispersed camping and backpacking. I can see the BLM areas, and I have used several different map apps, but all the roads I try dead end at private land. What’s going wrong here? Delete if not allowed.

I am planning a 7 day trip to Portland in September and spending 3-4 of those days on the coast.

I am looking for advice from locals on what city to stay in if we’re wanting to see sights starting from Astoria to Newport.

I have been planning this trip for a year, made a custom Google Map of all the places we want to go to, but now trying to find lodging has become hard. My biggest thing is I don’t want to spend the whole trip in the car. Even if we have to move one day that is fine but just want to be somewhere central.

Any help would be amazing thank you.

My friend and I are traveling for the first week of Sept for eight days. First time in Oregon and mostly visiting the coast, and flying in/out from Portland. We’re trying to make room for Mt. Rainier (or Mt. Hood) at the end. We also probably won’t do everything on the list depending on energy levels, but just to give us a general outline and ideas on what to do.

Day 1: Portland to Astoria/Cannon Beach

Day 2: Cannon Beach

Day 3: Cannon Beach to Oceanside/Tillamook to Newport
-Tillamook Cheese Factory
-Tide pools

Day 4: Newport to Florence
-Sea lion caves
-Thor’s well
-God’s thumb hike
-Aquarium and Marine institute

Day 5: Florence to Brookings
-Sand dunes and sand surfing
-Samuel Corridor

Day 6: Brookings to Portland
-redwoods

Day 7: Portland (city stuff)

Day 8: Portland to Mt. Rainier ~3 or 4 hrs OR go to Mt. Hood ~2hrs
-bed rotting the rest of the day

Day 9: Portland -> Fly home

I’m thinking of cutting out Brookings, and spending one more day in Newport. We still want to drive down the corridor so we could do a round trip sort of thing? Is Brookings worth spending the night? lol

I see the building that used to be Upper Crust Pizza has a new tenant: Shipwreck Pizza. Has anyone tried it? I'm very curious. We'll probably try it later this week.

As a long-time devotee of Upper Crust, it was so sad to see it close. But I think it will be good to have a new pizzeria in town (if the pizza is good).

Hi all. Can’t wait to visit beautiful Oregon. I’ve asked before, but I feel like I should specify.

I’ll be visiting Mount Hood, Ecola, Canon Beach, Newport and Depoe / Yaquina in early September.

I was planning on bringing more of a landscape setup (28mm and 70-200mm) and leaving my wildlife setup (r7 100-400mm) at home because I figured this was more of a scenic landscape trip.

However, I don’t want to miss out on wildlife opportunities. Is the wildlife abundant during this time? Will deer / elk / seals / whales and sea lions be so plentiful I’ll be kicking myself for not bringing a wildlife setup?

Can any photographers comment if a 70-200 is enough, or do I need my r7 with 100-400mm (640mm total reach).

I am getting off the Coast Trail ahead of schedule and am trying to make it down to Brookings tomorrow (7/20) The Curry County Transit page makes it seem like there is only Northbound service from Brookings to N Bend.

Does anyone know if the bus is running southbound tomorrow? Is there anyone in N Bend/Coos Bay that wants to make some cash driving me down? Taxis are like $200+

Any other options here?
