Anyone else have an issue running ChromaCheck on the Full Serve Xerox machines today?

I recently went to a local Office Depot/Max branch in Florida to print a colored poster using my thumbdrive containing a ready to print PDF file. The staff refuse to accept the print job stating that they ONLY ACCEPT print job sent online . It was early in the morning and no other custumer was there so I asked if they have any pending orders online or customer job waiting they are doing at that time. There was none. I was told to go home and submit the print job ONLINE becasue that was their store procedure. I sent a customer complaint to their online and the response was a non answer to the procedure compaints i raised.. with this:

OFFICE DEPOT Reps: Please be advised, Office Depot implemented a new system where customers must use the website to design and approve their own print jobs, reducing the potential for errors made by in-store employees. While our store teams are always happy to assist as they are able, we also have dedicated print specialists at our regional print center who can provide more in‑depth support. If you ever need help with your print job, please contact them at 800‑983‑3376, option 2 (available 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM ET). They will be glad to walk you through the process.

I REPLIED BACK: The point of my feedback is why would a walk in customer for a print job already with a pdf file on  thumb drive be told to go home and send the file job online when THERE IS NO EXISTING ONLINE PRINT  JOB  ORDER  TO BE PROCESSED OR PRIORITIZED BY YOUR STAFF at the the store.  

If you have competently trained  staff on the print store then  any  correction you mentioned is plainly an EXCUSE and it's a stupid procedure by  whoever put that in place not thinking about customer service!!!!!

Your response  mainly shows your empathy to my feelings for my inconvenience... you did not address the customer service policy as applied to your store's  process of NOT ACCEPTING WALK-INS FOR PRINTING JOBS and asking customer to go home and send it online!!!. The least you need to do is escalate this issue to top management for evaluation of your policy. 

I may have to open a discussion about this issue in REDDIT then!

Back in the late 90's I was completely obsessed with my local Office Depot's PDA selection.

I've been trying on and off for the past 20 years to find the old display shelving that was used. If I'm not misremembering, it was white plastic and in the shape of steps where each "step" had a row of various PDA's. I think there were probably 4-5 "steps".

Thought I'd ask here in a small hope someone working during the time of PDA's at O.D. might have a picture.

So I think I already know the answer to this but I want to verify if I’m correct or not, when putting together an OPC for booklets that are already formatted to print would that be considered a Pre-Imposed Booklet?

I’ve been thinking about this lately but hadn’t had a need to ask until recently as the majority of the booklet customers I get just have the individual pages unformatted.

yesterday at work, I was super busy and trying to get the queue down for today’s jobs and I swear I kept getting all the customers who acted like it was their first day on earth. im usually always alone over there so I just try to stay afloat even if that means rules are bent a tiny tad bit like for exactly, a lady came up and asked to use my hole puncher to hole punch her stuff and I didn’t have time to look for the charge in the cpd price book (if there even is one) so I just told her to knock herself out. mind you, she took an whole 30 minutes standing at my counter, organizing old documents into order, hole punching, and taking up my counter space with her assorted binders. I also had to check some people out next to her and she didn’t seem bothered at all that she was in our way😐. she becomes important again later tho,

during that, it’s also an hour before close so im obv trying to shut down cpd while still finishing a 7 page laminating job and this dude walks up to pick up an order he placed yesterday morning for a poster 24x36. no problem, I find it, I didn’t take it, so I didn’t know what was up with it, so I just hand it to him and say “have a good one” and expect him to leave but he looks at it and then asks me to trim the white edges at the borders off. I say “uh , sure no problem” cus I get asked this all the time, and at my store we usually do this automatically now whenever we print it like that and I just assumed one of the new hires might’ve forgot. after I trim it, he says “wait… is it still 24x36” and i shrug and im like “I dunno.. probably not anymore if you didn’t format the actual image to 24x36, I dont know what size it is, I didn’t even take this order or get a chance to see the job ticket” and long story short, he refused to leave for awhile until I manually resized it to 24x36, and reprinted with no white borders around it. did some digging, found out our only copy was saved as an pdf and his original copy was an 8x10 size photo that he wanted enlarged. obv I can’t resize an pdf cus it’s locked to one size and just distorts it, so I told him to just come back today with the actual copy resized to an 24x36 and it’s be reprinted (I only said that cuz I’m not working). My thing is, it was confirmed that it was 24x36 size already. So what in his mind made him think an 8x10 photo is gonna somehow end up fitting perfectly into an 24x36 dimension?

Also, back to the hole puncher lady, she saw me sweeping up CPD at 7:45pm (we close at 8) and decided she wanted to chat and start asking questions like “…do you guys sell hole punchers… what aisle.. how much are they.. are they tax free.. are these sunglasses tax free..” then went as far as to say “I have one more question… do you know how to make your online canvas class speak read text to you? I need help with that I’ve been trying” ma’am I am NOT Office Depot tech support, im just the print guy😭 I immediately shut her down and told her to contact canvas support about that concerning her browser. these people give me headaches daily, but at least my 2 weeks notice just went in, 2 weeks till im promoted to customer!!

i’m sorry this is kind of long, so i work in the print department and i was busy today. a woman walks up to the counter and i told her id be with her in a second because i was trying to wrap up what i was working on. i finish and greet her again and ask what she needs, she has a bit of an attitude but it was just a simple book binding, not a problem. i get into gmil and ask for her phone number but nothing comes up for her under that number, i try multiple numbers but nothing still, so i just ask her to fill in her information, all of a sudden there’s a problem, she’s flustered and tapping the screen of the computer that is not touch screen and she had been watching me use with a mouse for 2 minutes. i tell her to use the mouse to click into the boxes and type in her information. she goes “ well if it’s such a big deal maybe i don’t need to do this.” so i say it’s not a big deal i just need you to type in your information, she yells at me to just do it for her and doesn’t care what’s on it. so i enter her name and email address bypassing the home address and phone number and just putting random numbers for the phone number and address part so the system will let me add her to the system. i place the order and send her to the register to pay. all of a sudden there’s another issue. “ THIS ISN’T MY PHONE NUMBER “ so my coworker asks me about it and i tell her she didn’t care what was on it so i put random numbers, i only need her email. my coworkers relays the information and the woman demands the book back and storms out. i will admit i was being a little petty but i don’t put up with weaponized incompetence. this woman was able bodied and could read just fine. Edit: i also want to explain why i have customers type in their own information, i was working with a customer a few months after starting at OD with shipping and he wanted me to type in his information and messed up terribly and he had to pay over $200 to get his package shipped and delivered by a certain day. i felt so terrible about it for days, i still do, so im order to keep from making mistakes, id much rather just have people input their own information.

I swear out of all the SBC customers that come in Mary Kay ones I don't know what the hell is with them where they believe they are so important and so entitled that every order they place has to be done immediately. Whatever the fuck you're doing with Mary Kay, I sure as fuck know these funeral cards aren't part of it.

I was promoted to customer July 4th and today 7/17 I get my last paycheck. Is it direct deposit or a mail in? I haven’t received anything today yet…

Why in the middle of the day?

Anyone’s registers not applying tax? Won’t let you adjust quantities? Or discounts? Is anyone’s register refusing returns? Or charging customers when it says they are charged but no receipts? Ours are absolutely fucked and I put in a ticket but my lord this is a way to end my week as acting GM and tbh after this and the shit-show I’ve dealt with I don’t want to be GM I’m over this company they don’t know how to run this company but expect us on the store level to clean their messes. I’m not a nanny I’m a print supervisor.

So I’m relatively new to working at Office Depot or really any retail setting. Since my other jobs were mainly in fast food. How do I sell or persuade customers to enroll in the rewards program or business select. I’ve been there for at least a week haven’t been able to sign anyone up for rewards some either said no or were already signed up. Y’all got any selling tips or anything to me it feels a little awkward since I’ve never really done it before. That or convincing people to buy over priced anything seems a bit much. But I need this job so any tips would be appreciated.

Was talking to a coworker the other day, and learned that out profit margins are well into the negatives for computers. Why do we keep selling them at a loss. Like one the Mobi showed -58%, and many were in the 30s. It seems silly to literally pay clients to buy laptops from us when we are already a failing company… thoughts?

Why is it, that when processing a non-receipted return, we can scan the customer's driver license, but if someone's buying large amounts of gift cards, we have to hand enter all that same information?

So manager gets a bonus.....we need sales...does not make sense

They keep not sending us any HP ink. Last week we got 0, and this week I think we got like 3 packs. We have so many shelf slots out of stock. And all of our Brother ink looks like someone decided to throw it against a wall a couple of times.

M 19 a current key holder im headed back to college in August I was told my the DM I was able to transfer my job been here for about 4 years since high school. Is it even worth it?

I understand college towns jobs are scarce but should I just take the risk I wouldn’t be surprised if I still get shitty hours and horrible pay as well as the store hour changes loosing an hour(10.23)- yes 10.23 for being here for 4 years. And a keyholder

On my break and I want to rant.

I've been here for about 3 months now, on like my 10th day working. I usually get only about 1 rewards sign up per day, maybe a paper promo here and there and no business select.

Today I was told I was

1. In the wrong for saying "do you have a phone number with us" rather than the more trapping "what is your phone number"

2. Not getting enough rewards signups, paper promos or business selects

Everyone's already signed up or is very against it though?? Sorry coworker got lucky and got 5 yesterday? And now I'm supposed to sell a business select in the next 5 hours??? Like people aren't dumb enough to come in here and get scammed by our prices anyway so nobody is spending enough to warrant getting business select.

On my way to make my customers hate me by following the rules.

Also as mentioned in my last post I'm still only getting a day per week (it's Saturday and nothing in my life happens except on Saturdays)
