I am looking into the LVN to BSN program for Nightingale College. I have seen some info online that some people's ATT for the NCLEX has been put on pause for a long time. I emailed the BRN to see if its true and if its an issue.

It does seem like a problem right now as they are not accepting any more recent graduates to test for California.

I am not sure what to do as I have spent some money into the application process already...

Hello all! I’m looking to start my nursing program soon and while I appreciate having a roof over my head, living at home is absolutely killing me inside and the dream of moving out after nursing school is a major motivator for me. I know many of you may have had your own apartment/house already upon entering your program so this question is specifically for those who lived at home for their entire nursing school experience. How soon after becoming an RN did you move out? How much did you have saved up prior to your first check? Any tips or advice about making it out?

Hello everyone. I'm a recent grad (non traditional) with a non nursing bachelor. I'm trying to figure out what my next step is.

I randomly started looking up pa school.

In the few hours I've been looking at this i have seen some things that don't make a lot of sense and I'm hoping others can clarify. It seems that a PA gets paid more, with more privileges, less prereqs for admission, and less time in evil. Most all of the PA programs I have looked at are only two years.

My end goal is to be a pmhnp. I have look into demsn then working a year or two then certificate into pmhnp. Last time I discussed this I had about 40 angry nurses saying don't dare to demsn and that it's cheating. But I already have a bachelor's in psych.

So if I do absn for roughly 2 years, work two years, msn for two years, work for a year, pmhnp certificate for another year. Does this sound like a practical timeline? Or do I have something wrong in here?

Or you can go to pa school for two years then work under a psychiatrist after certification and get paid more in less time with less prereqs?

Please correct anything I have wrong here. Trying to figure out where to take things.

Hey everyone, I am a Chamberlain University student and i just failed my Anatomy and Physiology 2 test, it was the nerves and muscles. I feel quite embarrassed. Do you guys have any study tips, how do you write notes?

I studied for this test, I did not go in blind. You guys ever have tests where its like "oh sweet...we didn't touch on that?" Thats kind of where I'm at. I took notes off Edapt's (online learning modules) pretty thoroughly, I sit front row and ask questions, hell I passed AP 1 with a 95%. This test I scored a 67%. I feel like an imposter. I think I could have done more and therefore will be doing more.

How bad is it if i end up having to retake this class--or any class for that matter--if my goal is to be a CRNA or go to med school? I am future tripping.

Any advice would be appreciated (especially if you go to Chamberlain as well).

I got accepted into my college's nursing program recently (beginning this fall!) and I'm super happy and excited, but at the same time, there's this dreaded feeling of self-doubt

I consider myself good at studying and have always excelled in science-y courses, but I'm afraid of how different nursing courses will be structure and content wise. Besides that, I never really had any hands-on medical experience. I'm terrified that I'll mess something up or just do something stupid that will get me kicked out of the program I worked so hard to get in or worse, hurt someone...

Any advice to feel better?? I really need more confidence before heading in!!

My wife is looking to pivot from OT into Nursing in the PNW, and at the moment it looks like our two options are the following:

1. Private Accelerated Bachelors in Nursing (ABSN): 16 month ABSN w/ 90% NCLEX pass rate

2. Various Public Associate Degrees in Nursing (ADN): Various 24 month ADNs w/ 80-90% NCLEX pass rate

My question for nurses (especially recent grads) in Seattle and Oregon is:

Does having a BSN vs an ADN make you more competitive as a new grad in the current entry level nursing job market? We have heard that as more people have begun considering nursing the entry level job market for West Coast cities has become more competitive, and we were wondering if having a BSN over an ADN will meaningfully open up job opportunities in Portland and Seattle. The private BSN is more expensive than the public ADN's, and we are trying to determine if it is worth it to pay a premium for a BSN in order to access better job opportunities.

Hello, I start my classes very soon and I’m extremely nervous and worried. I’m 29 years old so I already feel like I’m starting super late, I’ve never been the best in school, I dropped out my senior year and got my GED and I have not been In school since. I’ve always dreamt of being in Nursing/Anesthesia but I had kids and life took a different path but Im finally ready to get back to it and start a career for myself.

Anyways, I said all that to say that since I haven’t been in school for over 10 years, and I’m not the best at it, I’m terrified of repeating the same pattern and dropping out.. If anyone can give me any tips on how to stay on top of my studies and how not to get overwhelmed with it all? I also want to note that I opted to go for my ADN first so that I can work in a hospital while going back to school for my BSN. thank you in advance to anyone who helps🩵

I’m hoping to learn from those of you who’ve already been through this because I honestly feel like I’m missing something.

I’m 36, a single mom to a 7-year-old, and after spending years working in healthcare, I finally decided to stop talking myself out of nursing and go for it. I was recently accepted into a private graduate-entry nursing program, and while I’m beyond grateful, now comes the part that’s honestly keeping me up at night—figuring out how to pay for it.

Before anyone says “just take out federal loans” or “use Grad PLUS,” I’ve already explored those options.

I’ve completed my FAFSA, appealed my financial aid package, and accepted every bit of federal aid available to me. Because I already have previous degrees and existing federal student loans, I’ve reached the federal borrowing limits I’m eligible for. So I’m really trying to learn about everything beyond the standard advice.

I’m hoping those of you who have been through nursing school can help point me toward opportunities I may not even know exist.

I’d love to hear about things like:

• Nursing scholarships that were actually worth applying for.
• Institutional grants or scholarships your school offered after you were admitted.
• HRSA, Nurse Corps, state workforce grants, or loan repayment programs.
• Hospital sponsorships or employer tuition assistance.
• Foundations or organizations that specifically support nursing students.
• Creative ways you covered living expenses while in school if you couldn’t work much.
• Anything you wish someone had told you before you started.

I got my CNA certification this summer in order to have a guaranteed job during the last year and a half of nursing school. I was recently also given responses back from two different local hospitals offering to interview for a Nurse Tech position + interviewed at a well reviewed nursing home. I am trying to balance what will be the most reasonable/not burn me out during school vs what is most impressive/ strengthens my resume. I know that I will have a broader scope as a NT and more opportunity to assist/learn from nurses however I also want to use the CNA cert. I just got and believe the larger patient ratio and independence would be beneficial as well. I think NT is chiller than CNA bcs during clinicals I noticed that oftentimes they were frustrated, overworked, and burnt out (would it be a waste of my CNA cert. to jump straight into NT instead? would I run the risk of burning myself out?). I know I can handle two part time jobs rn (and need to for tuition), its just a matter of deciding which two? I could work at a NT for both hospitals which I believe would be the most impressive choice in the long run for what I want to specifically do in acute care in a hospital setting however being a CNA at a nursing facility and NT for a hospital could also be more well-rounded because there is more of a difference between them and some of the strongest nurses have a CNA background. The nursing facility offered me employment (still waiting on my cert. to become active) and waiting on interviews for the two hospitals.

I have the opportunity to get my ADN degree at my local community college. I’m 26 years old now and by the time I graduate, I will be almost 30 if I go this route. That’s also if I pass the entrance exam and get in on the first try. This option is a lot more affordable, but it takes longer, and I only graduate with my associates. On the other hand, I have the option to do a ABSN program at a local university. This program I don’t need an entrance exam and I’m guaranteed a start date, I would just have to get 60 credits with good grades and I could start January 2028 and finish right before I turn 29.

The problem with the ABSN program is I would have to take out private student loans which really scares me. I hear a lot of people say that you can get hired with an associates and it’s not worth it to pay for your bachelors. But I already feel so far behind that it would be nice to have my bachelors before I’m 30. If I do the ADN program, FASFA will cover me fully. Thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated!

So financial aid won’t cover all of my schooling or give me extra money. I was in school a few years ago and FAFSA always gave me money back. I haven’t reached my full limit so I’m confused.

I’ve been unemployed looking for a job but haven’t had any luck. I’m struggling and don’t know what to do. Are there any programs that can help?

Hi, I'm 18 and freshly graduated from high school and I made the decision to go straight to taking LPN courses.

I'm currently looking into Prism Career Institute, but I've also seen another trade school called Orleans Technical College? It's accredited but I was told that it's LPN program is pretty new. Has anyone graduated from there or knows anything about the school? Is it a good option?

I recently found out I’m pregnant with my first (9w+3) and today I have a meeting with the advanced learner loan for my access.

I’m 36 so not as spritely as I would have been younger 😅 it was an unexpected but welcomed pregnancy. I’m just really concerned if I’m going to bite off more than I can chew…

has anyone done the course? How difficult is it? I’ve decided to do the distance learning rather than in class, I am due 20-2-27 I was thinking is it even possible to try and get ahead with the course before my due date or would I have to play catch up?

So me and my partner will be buying a home on the channel island, not entirely sure when but most likely in 2yrs, nursing degrees are government funded there and I get paid 19k a year for studying. We have a good pot for a deposit and savings.

I’m torn with doing it now whilst I still can but baby will be here for the last 3 months of the course or I could start next year and delay moving plus partner has had enough of military life so he will have to stay longer. I just don’t know how I’m going to juggle this.

This is my first time posting on Reddit ever, so I’m sorry if I’m doing this wrong or this is the wrong subreddit.

I recently changed my major at uni from psychology to BSN with a minor in psychology after questioning my future job stability and pay. I had been planning on pursuing addiction counseling after getting my bachelors, but I just wasn’t sure about it after thinking about it this summer. When it comes to psych, it seems like you can’t do anything without a doctorate. It felt like no matter where I looked, I was going to have to keep going to school or keep getting certificates. All I really wanted was to work toward something and be able to work in the field after I graduated. This is when I started looking into my school’s nursing program. I’m a year behind thanks to needing prerequisites (and to pass the TEAS) to apply to the program, but being able to get my BSN and become an RN after graduation sounded really appealing to me. I had been interested in nursing when I was in high school, but I ended up going with psych when I still felt optimistic about my future in it. I decided to just bite the bullet and change my major. Several friends of mine in the psychology program also switched their degrees over the summer, so it made me feel a little more confident in my choice.

Today, I’ve been poking around in nursing communities online, and it has seriously discouraged me. I’ve seen a lot of nurses talking about how much they love their jobs, but even more talking about burnout, abuse, bad pay, and warning people not to go into the field. Of course, I already knew that nursing is a very tough field and you have to have a certain mental fortitude to handle it, but for some reason it feels like I’m seeing it all for the first time. It makes me wonder if I should just switch to something else again, but at the same time I have no idea what other degree could be as flexible in an area that I have interest in. Everything feels so daunting.

Any advice? Have any other nursing students felt the same way? I don’t know what to do.

Hello! I’m looking into applying for the BSCN program at Keyano college for Sept 2027
I would be considered a mature student.
I sent Keyano an email already but just looking to see if any of you may know some answers to my questions while I wait for them to respond to me!

First of all I know on their website mature student entrance requirements are listed separately from the main entrance requirements but do I still need my 30 level math to get in? (ETA: I don’t currently have a 30 level math course, mainly wondering if it would be beneficial to take an upgrading course to get it or if they would even count that course toward my overall average/gpa calculation)

Second, I know that the entry is competitive but I’m wondering if as a mature student I’m placed against students right out of high school or if I’d only be compared to other mature students applying, since I believe the requirements are different?

Any other information anyone can share about applying for school, applying for funding, or tips while in school or preparing for it, would be very much appreciated

has anyone got into their program with older science pre-reqs?

i applied to the Mount Sinai ABSN program for the spring but my biggest concern is that 2 of my prereqs (chem and A&P1) are over 5 years old. my chem is almost 8 years old. on the website it does say they’ll check prereqs over 5 years in a case by case basis but I’m still pretty nervous that it might ruin my chances.

Hi guys! I’m about to take my TEAS exam in person soon and I was wondering if it’s actually easier than the online version? I’ve had a few people tell me this, but I wanted to see what others think. I’ve taken my past two attempts online (got a 69 on the first and a 77 on the second).
I’ve also been using ATI practice tests A and B and was wondering if those are generally harder than the actual tests? I scored a 67 on A and a 69 on B, but the weird thing is i’m scoring higher on the practice tests in the sections that I scored lower on in the real exam and vice versa. For example on the real exam I got a 50 on science in the practice I got in the 60s and in reading& math on the real exam I got 90s and on the practice tests i’m getting 70s.
