Do you have to answer yes if it's been expunged

(I'm not sure they even ask this question, I was just worried about it as I recently got something expunged/dismissed) I'm in ohio.

I’m a burnt out nurse of 2 years, still feel like I can start over but I can’t see much out there for me.

I’m 24 and currently transitioning from healthcare administration/provider recruiting into nursing. I have a bachelor’s degree in health services administration and have worked in healthcare recruiting and physician recruitment for a large hospital, but I’ve realized that I want a more hands-on career with greater stability and direct patient impact.

I’m currently completing my prerequisites and planning to apply to an ADN program. Long term, I’m interested in women’s health, pediatrics, cardiology, or outpatient nursing. I know nursing will be a major adjustment, especially since I’m coming from an administrative background, but I feel much more excited about this path.

Has anyone else made a similar transition from healthcare administration, HR, or recruiting into nursing? How was nursing school for you, and are you happy you made the change? Did your previous healthcare experience help at all? I’d especially love to hear from people who went back to school in their mid-to-late twenties or later.

for those who have already taken the exam, did you feel the questions reflected situations you actually encounter in clinical practice or were there certain topics that seemed much more heavily emphasized than they are in day to day patient care?

looking back, were there areas you wish you'd spent more time studying because they appeared more often than expected or topics you thought would be a major focus that barely showed up at all?

Has anyone worked in employee health in a hospital system?

I am desperate for a change. I’ve worked med-surg/tele, mother-baby, and now outpatient allergy & ENT. I love the outpatient life, but the company I am with is not great. Extremely poor management, no structure, they got rid of all nurse leaders, so I’m having to report to medical assistants, constantly having me travel to their other locations to cover for short staffing. They’re also doing very poorly financially, quit matching 401k and are considering not giving raises, seems like they’re stopping bonuses too.

I’m hopeful that occupational health at a hospital will give me a bit more structure. Also the benefits would be better.

Does anyone have experience with occ health? Is it hard/stressful? What does the day to day look like?
Do you feel like you have support and/or teamwork? Or is it super autonomous?

How do you like your position? I may take up a position in my hospital… Long story short, I work bedside but needed emergent back surgery a couple months ago. I need a safer position for my health and the long run.

I tried being a cna at an assisted living facility two years ago and quit after a month because of anxiety. I just got a job at an assisted living facility again and quit after a week because I was starting to feel the same way and didn’t want to waste their time training me. (I also work full time as a lab technician and didn’t need the job for income it was more for experience)

I still want to be a nurse but I’m worried I’ll be miserable. I like taking care of people and helping them but I get anxious around people and I think it was working with dementia patients that I didn’t like and having the same residents all the time.

I don’t know if nursing just isn’t for me or maybe it was just that area. Maybe I would do better in a different specialty or I should just find a different career path?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! So 12 weeks ago I had a microdiscectomy l4/l5 for severe sciatica, numbness in my leg and toe drop (not full on foot drop but visible weakness compared to my non-effected side)

I work bedside on a surgical unit considering going back to work. In order to go back I can’t have any restrictions…

My manager suggested that I change roles and working as case manager.
(Long story short: I lose my seniority with the union and benefits… that role is not with the union… it makes me really upset… I’m going to miss 3 12s. This position would also be 5 8’s M-F. I will have benefits through the hospital just not as a great)

I don’t want to lose my position but I don’t want to risk hurting myself. I would be so devastated reherniating and having to have this procedure done AGAIN. (for example: lifting patients in bed, pulling them over onto the stretcher, straight catherization, combative patients, I’M DREADING CBIs!!!) I’ve tried applying for remote nursing jobs and outpatient positions outside of my hospital even and the job market sucks even with 3 years med-surg experience… I can’t get an interview anywhere!

What would you do guys?
Or did you just make the decision NOT to return bedside?
Anyone know or have any similar stories to mine?

Hey y'all! I've always been curious. What shift do you work and how many days a week/what does your schedule look like? I do three 12s on days with 4 days off a week and I couldn't imagine not having 4 days off to regroup and recharge! I actually feel like I'm living life having 4 whole days off-- especially as a mom! More time with my kids in a row 💗 sometimes I'll schedule my 3 days back to back (1. I get the same patient group so it's easier. And 2. I get a longer gap before the next work days).

Has anyone switched between nursing and another career every few years before?

After graduation a few years ago, I worked as a nurse, and loved it. Even with the stress and anxiety, I was able to learn new things every day and care for patients in a way that I felt happy.

For the past two years I’ve been an elementary school teacher abroad. I also have fallen in love with it, but for different reasons. Seeing students grow in front of your eyes, as well as every day not being the same, is incredible.

Im at a crossroads, because Im having thoughts on going back into nursing. It has nothing to do with burnout or pay (I actually save WAYYY more money here as a teacher than as a nurse in the US), but more about missing out on patient care.

Has anyone taken a step back from nursing for a bit, starting in a new field, then returned to bedside? If I could have it my way, I would switch between the two every few years.

We’ve noticed a lot of our patients have been hypertensive in recovery after their procedure when Exparel was used without epi. Has anyone seen this?

What are my chances of becoming a nurse? I’m currently in school knocking out my pre reqs but 5 years ago I went to pick up my kid from her mother and when I came back I was accused of parental kidding long story short I fought it and instead of taking it to trial ( my lawyers were very confident in beating it) I accepted a SIS PROBATION instead . It was 5 year probation that ends in about a week and since technically it’s not a felony conviction could I still become a nurse even though I plead guilty?

I’m having a dilemma I’ve got a new grad position in an aged care facility, I was told 6 weeks of buddy shifts and 3 months of ongoing support. Fast forward to my 5th shift I was on night duty with 1 other nurse (didn’t mind that it was fine, only because nothing serious happened) I was told some night duties I would be by myself as it’s hard to get staff. So I would be the only RN for 160 residence. They have S8 rounds in which you have to skip as there’s no second Nurse.

My 6th shift (pm) I was by myself with a load of 40 residence. Navigating sliding scale insulin for a few residence, behaviours of not taking medications/ being suspicious of what they’re taking (as is their right to question). No other nurse to check insulin so they call each other and give permission over the phone (to me this seems illegal). I have 8 time sensitive medications between 2 buildings in the med round also. It ended up being there were a few falls through the shift also so documenting, calling families.

Med rounds there’s no clear idea of who is who, individuals are in each other’s rooms. There’s no way to verify who is who

The nurses I work with are incredibly burnt out, last night one was crying due to the work load. How are aged care ratios in qld safe? It’s made me want to leave and leave nursing forever. The fast paced medication rounds seem like a recipe for an error. Then to be put on night duty to back it up with a pm shift to then back that up with an am shift seems so bad for the body.

This job has made me want to leave nursing forever, it just seems like such low pay for the mental stress, no breaks and little time in between shifts. I’ve never felt this anxious before work and like I’ve failed as a nurse as I can’t do this job safely.

What did you all do with your nursing degree when you figured out it wasn’t for you?

I have 2 years of experience working in the operating room at a level one trauma center. I both circulate and scrub. I circulate every service and scrub more “straight forward” cases (general, ortho, plastics, ENT, open vascular, some neuro). I really do enjoy surgery and the OR and would love to further my career, but I’m unsure how to go about it. I have one year left at my current job and then I want to do travel nursing for a year or 2 before going back to school.

I love the peri operative environment, aesthetics, dermatology.

Some of the options I’ve considered are:
\- CRNA
\- Derm/aesthetic NP
\- Some kind of peri operative NP (I don’t necessarily need or want to first assist)

Everything about being a CRNA intrigues me except the actual job itself. I don’t know how much enjoyment I would find in putting people to sleep and pushing meds all day. Derm NP sounds great, but it’s a super competitive specialty and I would have to do some sort of fellowship which sounds daunting. I’m not sure if a peri operative NP is even a thing.

Any and all suggestions/advice would be very much appreciated.

Today I broke one of my cardinal rules in nursing. NEVER CHART SOMETHING UNTIL AFTER ITS DONE.
I work in a snf, ratios today were 1:46. It's not as bad as it sounds, but I was very busy today.
I don't usually stress time constraints, but today I was for some reason.
While standing outside of the pt’s room, I decided to chart a t-sponge dressing change and some JP drainage before I went and saw the guy. Only did the drainage because I can change it if need be, but 100% of the time... it's always the same amount of drainage. This guy wasn't in his room, I figured a cna had nabbed him for breakfast. Not a big deal, just circle back to him after. An hour goes by and I come back, he’s still not there. I ask about him up front and apparently he had been out to an early morning appointment, and no one put him as OOF in the PCC.
MY DUMB ASS CHARTED ON SOMEONE NOT IN THE BUILDING. Anyways, I struck that shit out with the quickness, but man am I ashamed and embarrassed. Figured I’d come to Reddit and confess my sins.

Hello, I am an incoming Junior in highschool and I am really passionate about going to the medical field as my future job. But I am also really passionate about studying Business (entrepreneurship)

I really want to become a nurse, and I've researched some factors about nursing and the one thing that stood out to me was that even though nursing is a physically and mentally demanding job, most nurses have to work only a few days within a week.

I know that most people who study Business cannot make big money in a safe way, because business is mostly high risk and high rewards.

So I am planning to study hard, go into a college and get a nursing degree and be a nurse for a few years to be financially safe, and then I want to start studying business (for the money and the experience).

For nurses or families with nurses out here, do you think I will have time to study business ?

Should I pick nursing in the first place, or is it actually financially better to pick business as a career ?

Also, it might seem silly coming from a high schooler, but I really imagine myself becoming big in the future, I'm pretty sure everyone feels this way when they are young, but I really want to become successful and live a full life, while having a meaningful job.

If anyone can also give me a harsh taste of reality that would be great, because I think I'm too optimistic and I can't imagine myself struggling badly in the future, I only imagine myself working hard and that paying off really well (ofc I imagine the bad sides, but I just don't thinkb those moments would ever come to me)

I am willing to study super duper hard so that my future is full.

I sweat a lot and that causes me to smell musty. It happens when I get nervous. I clean my body two times a day. I still smell musty I don’t understand why. I do not understand why. Hello! I’m a 17 year old F in AZ looking to become a CNA or a Phlebotomist. The thing is I don’t know where to start. A lot of people younger than me have already started a program called STEM, which has a program for nursing. I wish I could’ve joined it but was working a lot of hours at the job I’m still currently at. I’ve always been interested in healthcare or just trying to help people in general. I really want to work at a hospital, the thing is how do I start? What are the pros and cons for each? I feel like a late bloomer almost for starting late knowing there’s been 15/16 year olds already getting experience. I’m willing to put in the effort, I just need advice. I also do want the experience. Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated!

I was a medic for close to 30 years before transitioning to nursing due to an injury 4 years ago. I finally found a position with a set schedule (q Sunday, Monday, Tuesday night in PACU) I cannot imagine why anyone would want the schedule chaos that most nursing positions face.

It’s my first time being an ADON and it’s nothing like what I was expecting. I have worked in long term care, skilled nursing, and memory care for most of my career. I was hired to be the ADON of a memory care unit. It was a failing community and they cleaned house so I was hired on with an entire new set of directors to help build the community back up. The ‘clean up crew’ essentially. Every time I suggest something or try to make a change to improve the lives of my residents I get told no. I was so excited for this position and I thought it would be my dream job but I feel like I was lied to about the support I would have in making the necessary changes to improve the community . I just feel so defeated. I feel like I honestly can’t do anything right in this company. I don’t know what to do.

Civilian VS army nursing

Hi, im 18 years old 5'7 female and have a BMI of 21- and wanting to become a mental health nurse, I've recently finished my a levels and am predicted grades AAB. I have applied for nursing via uni and am planing to stay at home, and commute to university, over the last month, (maybe out of boredom) ive been kind of reflecting on my life and the things I want to do, and have realised that maybe staying at home isn't what I want to do, however staying at university is expensive and due to the nature of my course i will be working unsociable hours. Anyway, I've met some people in the army and initially being rather skeptical about the army; through their experiences have realised there's lots of opportunity within the army, for both men and women. Out of curiosity, a few days ago I looked into going into mental health nursing via the army (doing my training with them) and the appeal is there, as there's no student debt,get paid, plus the things we train in( such as Cognitive behavioural therapy) interest me. plus, I feel there would be more people my age in the army as opposed to my uni course which is comprised of mainly older adults (not that I have an issue with this, just helps socially)
