๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Discussion A minor gripe about station announcements on the L

From memory, I believe the announcement goes:

"The next... Manhattan... bound L... train is now arriving. Hello passengers! Accidents can happen when people **train visibly coming** stand too close to the platform edge. We want you to be **train is immininently arriving** safe, so please stand away from the yellow strip."

Then if you happened to be earnestly listening to this longwinded PSA, you have about 2 milliseconds to get away from the edge.

Now is not the time for a lecture. Just say "A train is approaching. Please stand away from the platform edge."

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Discussion Should the MTA bring back the 9 (with a few tweaks)?

Honestly, if they adjusted the 9's service pattern a bit, it would make sense to bring it back. I just want to know everyone's opinion.

โ“ Question Questions about East Bronx Metro North

โ€ข Upvotes

Do we have an ETA for this? Iโ€™ve heard both 2029 and 2030. Are either of these realistic? Realistically, how long would it take to get from Co-Op to Penn Station? How frequently would it be running? Would it run overnight? How much would it cost?

I live in Co-Op city and the commute into midtown Manhattan is killing me since it takes so long. I would kill to have the 2 be a local and diamond in both directions during all times, but I know that will never happen. I frequently am out late, so getting back and forth during all hours of the day or is important.

I would pay more in transit if I could skip the bx12/sbs and get to midtown in under an hour.

โ“ Question B/D Brooklyn-Bound Train Delays Every Morning

Anyone know why Brooklyn-bound B/D trains always have delays between Grand and Dekalb every morning between 6:30-7:15? Every morning the train will get stuck either on the bridge, or tunnel. Every few minutes itโ€™ll move like 200ft turn stop because of โ€œcongestion up aheadโ€. This is every day for at least the past month since I started having to take an earlier train. When I donโ€™t have to take an early train, Iโ€™ll usually be about an hour behind - and thereโ€™s roughly no trouble. Itโ€™s only with the โ€œbefore rush hourโ€ trains that give issues.

โ“ Question Paygo Recover and MTA hearing

I got on a bus, my payment wasn't going through because there seemed to be an issue with the bus wifi. Fare enforcers got on a few stops later, tapped my card and it didn't go through on their end either. Wrote me a summons. But as I predicted the charge showed up a few hours later on my card as paygo recover. But now I have a hearing and I've heard of people usually losing despite evidence. What do I do?

โ“ Question metro north question at grand central

First time taking Metro-North. Is it like LIRR at Grand Central where I need to follow signs to the LIRR area, or for Metro-North do I just check the departure board, find my track number, and go to the Main Level or Lower Level depending on the track?

โ“ Question Should the Bartow/City Island station be reopened for the future planned Penn Station and New Haven bound Metro North service?

City Island may or may not be worthy of a railroad station but this would likely also bring ease to anyone who is traveling from any of the 4 planned stations in the Bronx to City Island. Not to mention Penn Station or even from Westchester County/Connecticut. For example, the Bee Line 45 bus route doesn't run frequent on Sundays and I think Saturdays as well. I also believe it ends a bit early at night which could be an issue as it is the only way through public transportation from Pelham Bay Park to Westchester County/New Rochelle. The New Haven/Stamford line also stops at New Rochelle and although City Island may not be a highly densed enough area in the Bronx, it still could be some potential and soon enough ridership in the future to become worthy of a railroad station.
