Discussion Switch game card data retention

Hi all, does anybody knows how long does an unopened switch game card hold its data? I have seen discussion that you need to plug your games once in every 3 or 5 yrs. Is this true? They say they have already seen 3ds cards that are unplayable already and its less than 20 yrs old. I have already around 500 on my collection that are not opened yet so this is a concern for all collectors. TIA.

Went to Target in the hopes of finding a new Xbox game, only to raid their clearance section. Second pair is for a friend who got a little excited when I told him about the prices.

Discussion Do we think Pokémon Winds/Waves will be a GKC?

Upvotes

This is something that I’ve been worried about since Pokopia released and I wanna hear other people’s opinions on it.

So obviously Pokopia was made by a third party developer, but Game Freak isn’t actually fully owned by Nintendo. And they’ve only promised that first party games will be consistently available on the cartridge. I think that Pokémon Legends Z-A will be the only exception to future Pokémon games as key cards, since it was already made for switch one.

If winds and waves are Game Key Cards are you buying them? And how are you buying them?

Good morning, I know it’s a long shot, but is anyone going to SDCC this weekend that would be willing to grab an extra copy of the marvel maximum collection?

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[cl-r] (#577)

After playing BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, I noticed it had characters from a game I also bought alongside it as a bundle. 4 characters represent Under Night in Cross Tag. So transitioning to playing Under Night didn't feel so off.

A highly competitive, 2D anime fighting game franchise developed by French-Bread and published by Arc System Works. It is famous for blending the visual aesthetic of light novels with deep, street-brawl-style footsies and unique resource management mechanics.

Unlike many traditional anime fighters that favor frantic, aerial "air-dashing" combat, Under Night is predominantly grounded and focused on spacing, defensive blocking, and neutral play.

Positioned at the bottom center of the screen is a "tug-of-war" meter shared by both players. Doing positive actions (moving forward, successfully blocking, or hitting the opponent) fills the blocks on your side, while retreating or taking damage loses them.

Every few seconds, a central timer clock counts down. The player who has more GRD blocks filled when the clock hits zero enters the Vorpal State, granting a 10% damage boost and access to Chain Shift (which freezes time to cancel actions or convert GRD into super meter).

The series uses a simple 4-button layout (Light, Medium, Heavy, and the "D" button for the GRD system) alongside a lenient smart-combo system. While it is incredibly easy for beginners to pick up and press buttons, the system-level mechanics offer a massive skill ceiling for competitive players.

The narrative plays out like an urban fantasy light novel. Once a month, a phenomenon known as the Hollow Night envelops modern Japanese cities in a shadowy, invisible barrier.

* The Voids: The Night is populated by invisible monsters called Voids that feed on human souls.

* The In-Birth: Regular humans cannot see the Night. However, if a human survives being bitten by a Void, they become an In-Birth—gaining supernatural powers and the ability to manifest weapons out of their souls.

* Different factions of In-Birth battle in the shadows. Some seek to protect humanity, others want to exploit the Night to attain god-like status, and groups like Night Blade try to enforce order.

The cartridge includes the final version of the original Under Night story arc. It features 21 characters, including the ice-themed fighter Londrekia, alongside his dedicated story, stage, and music. It also comes with the expansive single-player Visual Novel "Chronicles Mode", Arcade modes, and full tutorial/challenge options.

Pretty wild for a fighting game to have chinky content aside from vs or online vs mode. Definitely enjoying this one with my kids.

Consensus Score:

80/100 😎

Awwww man. I can't believe as a major fighting game lover I missed out on this. Going back and grabbing fighting games I missed. Started here with this one. RWBY, BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, Under Night ain-Birth and Persona all in one game? Holy smokes! What a cast of characters.

A 2v2 anime crossover fighting game developed by Arc System Works. It brings together characters from massive franchises, including BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night In-Birth, and Rooster Teeth’s RWBY.

Streamlines traditional, complex fighting game controls into an accessible, five-button layout, while maintaining deep tactical mechanics built around managing two characters simultaneously. As a Tekken, MK and SF player, wasn't hard to get used to. Then again I grew up on SNK fighting games as well.

Unlike traditional fighting games where you focus entirely on inputs, BBTAG is built entirely around maximizing team synergy.

* Casual players can easily string together flash attacks by repeatedly mashing either the Light (Y) or Heavy (X) attack buttons.

* By spending your Cross Gauge, both your active character and partner fight on screen at the exact same time. This lets you "sandwich" the opponent, making your attacks incredibly difficult to block.

* If one of your two characters is defeated, you can activate this power-up for your remaining fighter. It temporarily regenerates health, boosts damage, and increases your super meter. (Crazy clutch in deep long battles)

The Nintendo Switch edition features a comprehensive suite of single-player and multiplayer modes:

* Episode Mode: An original crossover story mode tracking the characters as they collide in a phantom dimension.

* Tactics Mode: An extensive tutorial system that teaches both universal combat mechanics and character-specific combos.

* Online Lobby: Connects you to public rooms where you can run around as a chibi avatar and challenge global players.

Definitely a fun game to pick up. Grabbed the other games Blazblue has to offer and Entropy that I'll be playing soon.

Consensus Score:

79/100 😏

I'm really happy with the lower price for these 2 games.

Starfox is sublime and Splatoon Raiders is for both me and my son.

Happy gaming

Thanks to @2005KaijuFan, I finally got my hands on a physical copy of Brain Training on Switch, and it was a decent price!!! 😭😭 I was devastated when my DS copy finally crapped out cuz I played that game daily and I loved it so much. This is actually the best mail day of my life.

@2005KaijuFan I hope your pillow is cold on both sides for the rest of your life. This is the best day ever.
