Hi everyone, I'll be a student in the fall for the narrative program, and I need a laptop, and even though the specs specify you can have a Mac, I'm trying to figure out the ASIO compatibility, since when I look it up, it says new Mac's aren't ASIO compatible. I'm just so confused. Should I just err on the side of caution and go for a windows computer? I need help lol

I’m interested in apply this coming fall for the program, I graduated with an average of 87-93% in the high school requirements, and I am thinking about applying for the required Medical terminology course but - I was wondering if anyone who has gotten into the program can let me know things they wish they knew before applying?

I don’t have any resources around me, or anyone to really talk to about applying for post secondary.

Hey all, I got approved for student loans about a month ago now, and there has been no updates on my NAIT account. looking into it it seems like there should be something on my funding tab but it still says $0. everywhere I've looked says that studentaid will contact nait but at this point in time it doesn't look like anything's happened

I graduated from the Automotive Service diploma program in December, still have yet to recieve even an email about my diploma as of July. should I bite the bullet and drop $100 to request another one or just keep waiting?

Need help. Feeling lost and like I blew my life. Looking for advice on how to restart.

I graduated from NAIT CNT two years ago with good grades. To be honest, I didn’t take things seriously at the beginning and skipped a lot of assignments during my first three terms. However, I completely locked in during my final term and finished that term with a 4.0 GPA.

Despite that, I’ve had very little luck finding a job in my field. It feels like I chose the wrong program and wasted time. What makes it harder is seeing some of my friends who went into construction engineering and power engineering already finding jobs and starting their careers while I feel stuck.

Since graduating, I’ve done a few odd jobs and I’m currently working a casual admin support role, but I still feel lost and disappointed in myself almost every day.

I’m trying to figure out what I can do from here. Should I learn new skills, switch career paths, go back to school, or keep trying to break into my field?

For anyone who has been in a similar situation, how did you restart and find your direction again?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I know I’m going to struggle with math and would like to have a head start by reading over the contents now. It’s the Jerome Business Mathematics in Canada 11th edition. For cheap ideally.

1. Can you pick a clinical placement outside of alberta? For example i’m from BC moving to alberta and i would love to come back for the 3rd year

2. is the 3rd year strictly clinical placement? like no lecture or labs?

3. How many hours/days do you need of clinical experience?
   3b) if you reach those hours/days before the 3rd year ends are you basically considered done?

I was wondering if anyone has any insight about the usefulness of this course (the current version, not the old one). I’ve looked over the “what you will learn” section, but in my experience you never know how that will translate into actual instruction/content covered.

I’ve done a math degree at UofA with a CS minor, but honestly I don’t feel like I learned anything that made me industry ready, and I’d like some structure to help me get there. I was a very average student in my program, but I also made the mistake of coasting through my degree.

I’m currently not getting any interviews with my academic projects on my portfolio and I don’t feel like I have the know-how to put my ideas into personal projects yet.

I’m planning to apply for the Winter 2027 NAIT Medical Laboratory Assisting (MLA) program and I had a question about the new admission requirements.

I noticed that applicants are required to complete ITMS100 – Medical Terminology and ANPH100 – Anatomy and Physiology by October 15 for the Winter intake. However, the self-directed online sections I found are listed as running from August 1, 2026 to November 30, 2026.

Since these courses are self-directed and can potentially be completed faster, does anyone know if students who finish all the requirements before October 15 can receive their final grades before the official course end date?

Also, does anyone know what happens if a student is unable to complete one or both courses by October 15? Would that automatically make them ineligible for the Winter 2027 intake, or are there any other options (such as submitting proof of completion later)?

If anyone has applied to MLA recently or has experience with these courses, I would really appreciate your insight.

Really what I am looking for his people's experience with the program, how they managed or found it to be, how involved or personable it was with teacher student relationships, opportunities post grad, etc etc etc.... Haha

Is anyone able to give me some insight on the MLT program at NAIT?? Quick backstory... I am a sonography student that completed my first year at a different school. I am having bad shoulder/wrist issues already so I am considering a career change because I am not sure how long my body would last in the sonography world which sucks :/

How is the work load and scheduling? Are there days where you can study from home? My mom lives about 40 minutes from NAIT in Edmonton so I would plan to live with her.

And for people who have graduated the program, would you recommend this as a career? Do you enjoy your job? I do plan on shadowing an MLT too. Feel free to recommend anything else!!

I am 31 and have been working full-time as a business analyst for about 7 years. I currently make a decent salary (I realize that's a fortunate position to be in). I'm not looking to leave because I think I'm underpaid or because I'm chasing a higher salary. For a good few years now, I have craved more embodied, hands-on work. I currently spend most of my day at a computer. I'm good at analytical/problem-solving work, but I don't think sitting behind a desk for the next 30+ years is a good fit for me. It's gotten to the point where I dread what I do, and I feel embarrassed telling people what I do for work. I grew up with my parents being very resourceful, hands on, and always moving around in their day to day lives. I value similar things and it's really starting to affect me.

I've been looking through NAIT's programs at things like instrumentation, RT, MLT, HVAC, electrical engineering, etc. I can't help but notice that, in a lot of posts, there is a common sentiment that every field is oversaturated, impossible to get into/find an apprenticeship, or not worth pursuing at all. I know reddit can sometimes amplify negative experiences, so I'm hoping to get a more balanced perspective. I am trying to be as objective as possible and not approach things with rose coloured lenses, but I also want to be optimistic.

A bit about me:

• I enjoy solving problems and figuring out how systems work.
• I like learning technical skills.
• I'd prefer work where I'm moving around and using my hands instead of sitting all day (preferably something that doesn't completely break your body; I get that might be a tall ask)
• I'm okay with a pay cut if it's a better long-term fit.
• I'm less interested in highly social, people-facing work (for example, I don't think nursing would be the right fit for me even though I respect the profession).
• The idea of starting over as an apprentice is intimidating, but I'm open to it if it's genuinely a good fit.

For people who've gone through NAIT or work in the trades or technical healthcare fields:

• Are there particular programs you think are worth a serious look?
• What careers do you think fit someone like me? Pros and cons appreciated.
• What would you do differently if you were going back again?
• Are there careers that have a more realistic outlook than reddit makes them seem?

I'm looking for honest advice about fit, lifestyle, and day-to-day work (not just salary).

I’ve been in the bachelor of finance program for 6 years. Nait switched the requirements up and apparently I have to take math2150. I’ve done literally every other course. I’m going to fail, it’s the worst class, got an A in derivatives as an fyi, the teacher gives so much material and expects you to know it all just to focus on 1 or 2 topics during exams.

The next online offering isn’t until spring 2027. I just want to me done my degree so bad I already have a full time job. I have literally never stepped foot on nait campus

I have two questions, one,. If I sign up for the in person class how much do I actually have to go? I wouldn’t really be able to go at all due to full time employment

Or anyone know any way to get out of this class 😂
