Mingalaba / แ€™แ€„แ€บแ€นแ€‚แ€œแ€ฌแ€•แ€ซ; and welcome to r/myanmar.

If this is your first time on Reddit, you may want to familiarize yourself with Reddit's rules and policies. To make sure you have not been afoul of the rules, please see

If this doesn't work see https://translated.turbopages.org/proxy_u/en-my.en.09ead139-668034e0-8d10fdfd-74722d776562/https/support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette.

A Reddit community is called a subreddit, also known as a sub. The subreddits start with r/.

Followers are not important on Reddit. Your followers are not important either. Only your posts and comments are important. Unlike other social media, hashtags are not useful on Reddit. The Reddit account username cannot be changed after signing up. To change it, you will need to create a new account, which will reset your karma.

Karma is an arbitrary measure of how much you contributed. The more upvotes you get, the higher your Karma. Some subreddits require you to have a certain amount of Karma before you can post. Do not spam irrelevant posts to other subreddits or be rude, insulting, or abusive, as you can be downvoted. This will cause you to lose Karma. Try to avoid getting your total Karma in the negative value.

Also make sure to follow our rules, which are prominently displayed in the sidebar to the right.

  1. Make sure to label all posts that contain gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW." To see how to do this and for a more detailed explanation click here.
  2. Make sure your posts are on-topic and related to Myanmar. Spam) may go well with anything but it has no place in this sub. Please do not spam us with unrelated content.
  3. Please keep discussions civil. Tolling and racism will not be tolerated. Our situation here is not for your "lulz". Also, keep swearing to a minimum. Although we will tolerate swearing if it is part of the narrative/discussion, personal insults, over-the-top vulgarity, etc., will not be tolerated.
  4. Adding a flair to your posts will enable others to easily find similar posts. Flairs are used to categorize posts to easily be found. Click here for more details.
  5. Keep reposting to a minimum. Please check to make sure you don't repost news and pictures that have already been posted. r/MAGIC_EYE_BOT and u/DuplicateDestroyer are trialed to help remove duplicate images. Please reply to the bot or send us a message if the bot got it wrong.

For a brief background of the coup, please see this post I made.

Does the content you're posting here fit more than one community? As per Reddiquette, consider posting to other subs such as the ones listed here if the contents fit more communities.

For example, are you posting news? Then you can post into r/news, r/inthenews, r/worldnews, r/USnews (US news only), r/asia, r/asian, r/asean, r/theworldnews. This list is not exhaustive but please use common sense and make sure the content fits the target sub. That means news only goes to news-related subreddits and pictures go onto picture-related subreddits. Make sure to follow the rules of those subs as well, since each sub has its own set of rules.

Additionally, give some love to the other Myanmar subs: r/saveMyanmar and r/Myanmar2021.

Are you in another country but wish to help the people of Myanmar? See this post.

In summary,

DO

  • Post topics with descriptive subjects
  • Check the subreddit for prior submission of your article or image before posting.
  • Flair your post with the appropriate flair to make them easier to find
  • Upvote posts
  • Tag posts with gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW."
  • Share posts to more than one subreddits
  • Report posts that break our rules or attempt to spam us with irrelevant content.
  • Credit the author of an image or comic

DON'T

  • Post off-topic or spammy posts
  • Spam keywords like "savemyanmar" "wewantdemocracy" in the post title
  • Do not upvote or promote your post with multiple accounts. This is against Reddit's policy and you may end up being suspended.
  • Do not post Myanmar posts on irrelevant subreddits.
  • Post images and articles that have already been previously posted by someone else.

Thank you. / แ€€แ€ปแ€ฑแ€ธแ€‡แ€ฐแ€ธแ€แ€„แ€บแ€•แ€ซแ€แ€šแ€บแ‹

English:

Be cautious of ongoing scams regarding "Blacklist Removal Services".

How this scam works:

  1. Scammer posts a personal story followed by a question to provoke discussion, and a brief mention of successfully removing blacklist status.
  2. Scammer waits for victims interested in getting blacklist status removed to explain further or provide contacts.
  3. In DMs, scammer will claim they can help and ask for money upfront.

Safety Tips:

  1. Check the Profile: Always click on the OP's (Original Poster) username.
  2. Account Age: Be wary of very new accounts (created only a few days or months ago)
  3. Post History: Scammers often have few post history or only post the same "success story" across multiple subreddits.

Burmese -

โ€œBeware of Blacklist Removal Scams.

Scam Types -

  1. The scammer posts an experience and asks questions, encouraging readers to discuss, vote, and comment. The message often claims to have been removed from the Blacklist political blacklist.
  2. The scammer waits for people who want to remove their blacklist to be interested and ask for help and contact them.
  3. If they contact you via direct message, they will ask for money in advance and scam you.

Things to note -

  1. Always check the profile, click on the post's name and go to their profile. You can view it.
  2. Please note that the account has only been active for a few days or months.
  3. Please note that there are no posts in the post history, few posts, and similar experience stories and questions are posted on multiple pages and groups.

This is relatively obscure but Nietzsche was one the philosophers that inspired the Dobama Asionyone movements in the 1930s.

The video I've linked is a short dialogue between Plato and Nietzsche, and should serve as a short intro to both philosophies.

Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Thailand: A Dirty Player

Ever wonder why ASEAN seems so toothless when it comes to Myanmar?

The whole consensus decision-making thing and the non-interference policy are pretty major flaws. But the biggest issue is that individual member states keep dealing with the Myanmar generals, whether it's on the down-low or out in the open.

Just look at Thailand. It really tries hard to have the generals' backs because it gains a lot from Myanmar, which makes sense.

These backdoor channels mean the junta doesnโ€™t have to talk to ASEAN as a whole. Instead, they can work with each country one-on-one, customizing the deals to meet specific local interests while ignoring what ASEAN wants across the board.

Unless ASEAN can somehow get everyone on the same page and commit all 10 member states to the same terms (which seems pretty unlikely), itโ€™ll just keep spinning its wheels in this diplomatic deadlock.

Others. Edit as needed. Need recommendations for learning Burmese regional words and dialects

I wanted to learn the dialects (แ€’แ€ฑแ€žแ€ญแ€šแ€…แ€€แ€ฌแ€ธ) for school works and translations (especially Merguese), and I have researched how different the dialects are depending on regions, but I wanted to study the speeches more. Any novels, books, TV shows and whatever could help, I just couldn't find specific media about this topic.

Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ How strong are the Shan and Pa-O forces?

Thumbnail

The RCSS and SSPP, rarely fought others except each other until last year.

And the PNA is regional militia of Tat and PNLA, a Pa-O revolutionary or leftist?

How strong are they? Iโ€™ve heard like PNA has 40,000 troops.

Iโ€™ve saw that everyone is competing for control of Southern Shan State since the Tat was weakened. PNA is mobilizing with Tatโ€™s help. SSPP with UWSA help. RCSS also arrived to Danu region. PNLA trying to take Haihseng from PNA as well.

Do they have KIA level military? Or just like KNPP/KA level?

How strong are they in terms of manpower/business/equipment/experiences etc..

A local resident expressed his gratitude for the Myitkyina-Moekaung-Moenyin train service, and State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nang presented a commemorative gift to the Ministry of Transport for the train service. Then, the train that will run on the Myitkyina-Moehnyin route was reopened by the State Chief Minister, the Northern Command Officer, After the ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Deputy Minister of Transport, the Myitkyina-Moehnyin express train (50)Down departed from Myitkyina Station towards Moehnyin.

My Text -
As you can see in the images, the branch line reopen ceremony was hosted by most of government and residents in Kachin state. The trains used here were also newly built ones in Naypyidaw Locomotive Workshop and carriages were also Air Cushioned carriages which means the railway branch line has not only cleaned but also upgraded.

Hey everyone, hereโ€™s a quick 25 seconds of early gameplay featuring the Myanmar folklore enemies I posted here yesterday!
Just a heads-up: the UI, the level, and the player character (still missing animations) are very much a work in progress, but the enemy assets you see are final.
If you want to give the current build a try and help us out, our playtest registration is still open!

Advice I want to take IELTS in myanamr. How to?

I have been lost on how to take IELTS in Mandalay, I already know where the test centers are but how do I register for it? I asked the test center, but they said I need to register at British Council first. Do I have to have a credit card? Are there any good third-parties that can make the test-taking more convenient? And I would prefer answering the computer-based one. Yet, I am clueless on how to do it? I am over 16 too. Any help?

Advice Has anyone purchased a watch from The Burma Watch company?

They have instagram and Facebook pages. I've been watching their ads/pages since 2023. The watches seem to cost between 100 - 200 dollars (at least when I last enquired in 2024). They look really cool and I want to get one as a souvenir before I leave the country but I'm not sure if the quality matches the price. I'm no loaded collector so dropping 200+ USD on a unknown brand is definitely a big gamble.

Any 'local watch' lovers care to share their experiences?
