As you know, indie rock has traditionally been dominated by white artists, and musicians from other ethnic backgrounds often don't get the recognition they deserve. I'm looking for recommendations for artists similar to Beabadoobee—especially those with strong indie/alternative rock influences.

I'm also searching for bands like Rilo Kiley with a female lead and that early-2000s indie/alternative rock sound. I'd love to discover more artists, especially those who deserve more attention. Thanks in advance!

Okay so I need some music recs. I mostly listen to rock and pop from 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I’m pretty well versed in these eras so I’d like some more obscure tips here. With a few exceptions I don’t really listen to whole albums or discographies so I’d prefer one or two songs per artist/band to get a sense for them first. Would love to get some recommendations of artists and bands that sing in other languages than english as well!

I've heard artists at backyard shows in my day who have a modern, sort of underground Cumbia sound. Unfortunately, the names escape me. This stuff sounded like El-P's early production in terms of feel. It was very somber and dangerous, but the groove was incredible.

Edit 2: Thank you all for the recommendations! However, as I've started listening to them, I do think a lot of them miss what I'm going for. I'm looking for a very specific feeling. Songs with qualities like the ones above, qualities like these:

Immediate energy. Most of them don't slowly build-they hit hard with a crazy hook. (There is and can be exceptions to this of course)

Aggressive groove instead of speed. Even when they're fast, the riffs are thick and rhythmic. They're songs that make you want to drive fast rather than headbang.

Dirty, overdriven guitar tone. Lots of fuzz, distortion, garage rock crunch, or classic Marshall-style gain instead of polished modern metal.

Big memorable riffs. Almost every song is built around one killer riff rather than technical musicianship.

Controlled chaos. Some songs sound like they're barely holding together, but they're actually very tight.

Hi, I'm searching for albums where there is an interlude that gets heavier, to then transition into the next song of the album. The transition has to be smooth, and the next song should start immediately and be heavy from the first second.

The PERFECT examples would be May These Noises Startle You in Your Sleep Tonight -> Hell Above from Collide with the Sky (pierce the veil) and The End. -> Dead! from the black parade (MCR).

Genre: anything heavy enough to make this work. Also, listen to the two instances I mentioned cause they are so good😍.

Title says it all. Gimmie some angsty songs, preferably more angry than sad. Open to all genres but I prefer stuff along the lines of country, rock, alternative, pop, and folk.
