In "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" (2004), the cracked ice near where they lay with each other kind of looks like a neuron, with the dendrites being the cracks branching outwards and beneath their legs.. I thought this was an interesting detail which adds a deep layer of symbolism to the scene and I was wondering if it was done intentionally. Almost like, by positioning the dendrites beneath their legs as they lay next to each other, it foreshadows them walking through joel's neurons / his memories of their relationship later on in the film.

It literally looks like their connection is rooted in the architecture of the brain, symbolizing that this moment is becoming deeply embedded into joel's neural pathways.

In the Sawyer clan's lair there hangs a skeleton from the ceiling, riding a bomb and waving a cowboy hat over its head. This is an homage to the end scene in Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" from 1964.

At the midpoint of the movie, when they are telling the American fighters who their opponents are, Eric Roberts' character is paired up with Sae Jin Kwon.
