Mod Post REMINDERS

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. It’s been a while since we posted any reminders, and I’d like to touch on a couple of issues that have come up recently.

With the shortage, we’re seeing a lot of questions related to dosage and availability. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

The half life of Mounjaro is five days, and it takes about a month for the medication to completely leave your system. Because of the shortage, many people are going weeks or months without injecting. The manufacturer recommends starting the titration schedule over if you’ve gone more than two weeks without a dose.

While this advice might not pertain to everyone, it’s important to evaluate your previous experience with the medication before injecting a higher dose if you’ve been off the medication for a while. Chances are, if you’ve had moderate to severe side effects in the past, you’ll have the same response (or worse) if you jump back to a higher dose.

One way to mitigate this outcome is to contact your provider and ask about lowering your dose temporarily if you’ve been waiting for your script for longer than a few weeks. I understand that nobody wants to lose ground when it comes to their progress. But given the alternative (a reoccurrence of side effects that can potentially derail your treatment entirely) it may be the best option.

Frankly, the number of posts I’m reviewing from people experiencing negative side effects after suspending their treatment is alarming. The purpose of this medication is to improve your health, not make things worse.

And as always, when in doubt, please consult your provider. They are the best person to ask when it comes to dosage.

As far as side effects, there’s a few things that everyone should remember:

While gastric side effects are listed as common when taking Mounjaro, severe nausea paired with uncontrolled vomiting or diarrhea is not. Complications from diarrhea and vomiting include: dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, fainting, and heart rhythm abnormalities. Negative outcomes from this treatment are rare, but occur most frequently when people ignore debilitating side effects.

We’re here to support each other in our journey towards better health. Sometimes that support includes directing a person to their provider for advice. Especially when the post includes phrases like “I can’t keep anything down,” or “I’ve been throwing up for two weeks,” or “I’m too weak to stand.”

Crowdsourcing advice when you’ve reached that level of distress is not advisable. And medical oversight is a must.

Another question we see quite frequently: “I’ve only lost (fill in the blank) pounds this week (or month). Is this normal?”

Invariably, the answer is “yes.” What’s normal when it comes to weight loss is highly subjective. A quick search of the subreddit will provide first hand accounts that run the gamut when it comes to how fast (or slow) a person loses weight. If you still have questions, we’re here to help. But please, include the relevant information needed to offer advice, such as: dosage, co-morbidities, starting weight, caloric intake, etc.

People are here to treat a wide variety of conditions. Any or all of these conditions play a role in how fast we see results. It’s natural to be impatient. But don’t assume that the treatment isn’t working because the scale hasn’t moved for a week (or three). During my weight loss journey, there were many weeks that I didn’t lose a pound. On two occasions, I stalled for over a month. In the end, I reached my goal, and chances are, you will as well! I wish there were some sure-fire words of wisdom I could provide to ease your mind, but there aren’t. The best I (or anyone else) can offer is: trust the process. Obesity is a complex issue on its own. Pairing obesity with the metabolic issues such as diabetes, insulin resistance, and PCOS only further complicates the treatment.

Lastly—in order to address the availability issues, we started a chat to help people source their medication. Here is the link.

I’ve read a comment (or two) recently from a few folks who were put off after being directed to the availability chat. We created the chat in response to other folks who messaged us because they were tired of seeing the posts related to the shortage. Which goes to show—there is no perfect solution.

Weezie and I do our best to be responsive to the needs of the community. If we redirect you to your provider for medical advice, or to the availability chat for sourcing, or to the search feature to answer a commonly asked question, it’s because we want you to receive the best advice/support available. The mods and your fellow community members genuinely want to help!

Have a great week!

I finally hit the magic 100 lbs lost and things have definitely slowed down. SW 285. CW 185

Sometimes I feel like the medication isn't working anymore and get discouraged. I log everything! I generally stay in the 1400 calories per day zone, walk 4k daily and do strength training a few times per week. It's so frustrating going up and down the same 2 lbs. How did you get things moving in the right direction again?

When I need encouragement I look at old photos and see how far I have come.....I look like a different person. I am grateful for the opportunity to be on this medication it is truly life changing....now if I could get the last 45 lbs off I would be ecstatic!

Maintenance Goal Achieved

In 2022 I was 400 lbs. My A1C was in diabetic range. I had plantars fasciitis, my depression was at an all time high. I started MJ as a last ditch effort before having gastric bypass in Mexico. I actually had already scheduled the surgery for Jan 2023. I gave it 5 months. I lost 60 lbs in that time! I’m gonna make a long story short. In Jan of 2024 I had lost an additional 129 lbs. I got pregnant that month and gave birth to my son September 2024. Gained 117 lbs while pregnant. Over the next 18 months I lost that 117 lbs and then some. April 2026 I had a tummy tuck at 190 lbs and the removed 5 lbs of excess skin. Since then I reached my ultimate goal weight of 175 lbs. 225 pounds lost. I’m 5 ft 6 in. A dress size 6. A Small top. Size 8 jeans. I’m so so grateful for this. I have a beautiful baby boy and a whole new life!

Question Losing over 200lbs

Hello,

I've lost a lot of weight over the past year and tirzepatide has helped me lose most of it. I went from 348lbs to 235lbs, and in the past four months, the rate of my weight loss has halved - so, I've gone from losing 8~10lbs every month to losing 4~8lbs every two months.

But the outlook from here is intimidating. I'm dealing with increasing hunger on 10mg, so I've titrated back up to 12.5mg, and plan on staying there and sticking with it. My daily calorie intake to lose 2lbs a week is calculated at 1500 exactly, and I'm really unsure how things are going to go in the future.

The deficit is going to grow. I think I might have to make even more extreme changes in my eating habits in order to meet it, and continue to go up in dose. I think I also might have to do more intense physical activity - walking for about an hour 5 days a week has been good for my general health but I evidently need to do more if I want the weight to move.

I'm just hoping to hear from those of you who have lost extreme amounts of weight. I see a lot of stories of people losing 100lbs, and that has them meeting their goal.

I have twice that amount to lose total and would like to know what that has been like for those of who you have done it.

What roadblocks did you face, how did you climb over those hurdles, how did you manage the shift in lifestyle?

Maintenance Three months after stopping mj - maintainence update

Hi all, I'm back again with my month 3 update after coming off mj.

I'm posting these so anyone who wants (or needs) to come off the meds for any reason (mine was financial) can benefit from my experience and what I've learned. I am not posting them because I feel "better than everyone" (as one commenter stated) or think it's better to be off the MJ than on. I know this is a lifelong drug for many.

CW: 140 lb

SW: 209 lb

Weight on last dose of mj: 142 lb

I've gone between 139-145 since coming off.

I've had a lot of positive comments on these posts, and also a few comments every month saying "mounjaro is still in your system this long" and "you'll gain all the weight back by the end of year 1". But so far, so good. I'm going to attempt to answer most common questions in this post, and feel free to ask anything you like in the comments.

Disclaimer: I was on MJ for weight loss only and have no knowledge or experience with diabetes, pcos or any other condition that may be managed by the drug. My advice applies to weight loss only. Also for reference I am 36, I am aware age and other factors make things difficult for many.

New this month: I have visible abs for the first time in my life. This was hugely exciting for me as I have so much loose skin around my stomach (also pictured) from both the weight and two children that I never expected to be able to see them. I look ok in clothes but do have an apron belly I am saving to have removed. I'm not really fussed about the rest of the loose skin but the stomach hangs and gets in my way (and looks like a sad face when I'm doing a plank!)

Also, I had a bad week. I started adding some treadmill sessions to my routine as I found I was much happier days I was exercising vs not. I do the 30, 12, 3 routine (30 minutes, 12 incline, 3mph). I hate running and walking on an incline is pretty much as efficient and good for recovery for weight training.

HOWEVER I did too much too fast (4 sessions in the week) and I injured my toe joint which effected my ability to do any of my workouts properly. That week was my daughter's birthday and for the first time I fell off the wagon and had about 4 days of "bad" eating (birthday cake, ice cream, cheesy chips - all the bad stuff). I avoided the scales for 4 days in my shame.

Day 5 I step on the scales and to my amazement I was down half a pound. I went straight back on the wagon and also realised I've been under fuelling. I had some comments telling me last time my intake was too low and I needed to increase to find my maintainence calories.

I was too scared to really do it and couldn't wrap my head around the idea that I could increase cals and not put weight on. But following their advice I started added about 150 cals a day the last two weeks (from around 1500 per day to around 1650 average). My weight has been consistent, so if this continues two more weeks I'll add another hundred. I'm trying to learn not to be a coward. Also the advice here has always been amazing.

So some ups and downs mentally but overall still having an amazing maintenance experience.

My general advice remains the same for anyone who wants to come off: use the drug as a crutch to support you while you learn your new lifestyle. There is no better time to kick out processed foods and swap for whole foods than while your appetite is controlled for you. There is no better time to start a weight training routine.

Stay on the lowest dose you can so you can learn to feel hungry and deal with it. Titrate down suuuuper slowly (I spent two months microdosing between 5 and 0mg).

Prioritise protein, high volume/low cal foods, and fibre. Add as much protein as you can - you need so much more than you think.

For me, things that are worth it include: protein shakes, creatine, buying adjustable dumbbells I can use at home.

Things that are not worth it include: high intensity cardio (makes you hungry and delays recovery for weight training which is the real differentiator; walking/low intensity cardio is better), skin treatments like RF for loose skin (waste of money).

I'll pop my workout routine in the comments. Thanks all for your continued support on this awesome sub, and best of luck on your journeys.

Question To those who have been overweight/obese since childhood..

Have you reached a weight in which you are technically skinny or did your body stop at a certain point where you are still considered overweight/obese?

I started at 108kg, and that was after a recent spike of 5 extra kg, most of my adult life I've been at 98-103 kg. When I was 12, I remember being 70kg and being told to diet to lose weight. I've never really had a "skinny" point past the age of like 4 (as far as I can see from photos).

I've seen a lot of people on this sub saying their body stopped at the weight they were "before", but like.. I don't have that I think? How did it happen for you?

5mg Feeling defeated already

Upvotes

I recently started Mounjaro a month ago at 2.5mg. I was on that for 4 weeks and then recently went up to 5mg. It’s been 2 shots on 5mg and I’m seeing no progress. I’ve been eating in my deficit, drinking water, exercising, etc. I feel defeated… I’ve read here that people decrease if they see no results. I’m unsure what the best move would be when I see my Dr soon.

Success Stories Mounjaro miracle

On April 11th 2026 I weighed 110kg. I’m 6ft3 and 40 years old. I had slipped from good looking to formerly good looking and was cantering towards diabetes and fatty liver. My clothes became more and more colourful, I draped layers and hid my belly and pretended I was okay. I wasn’t.

Mounjaro has changed my life. This morning I stepped on the scales and weighed 89.90kg. I feel healthier, I ache less, I’m eating healthier and yes - I’m starting to look like my old self.

My doctor had a reasonable tough time convincing me to try mounjaro and one thing he said once I’d agreed has stuck with me - “you’ll be dancing back through that door in a few months”. He was right. It’s not a miracle cure, you do need to make sensible choices and change your habits but wow does this make it easier.

Astonishingly I’ve had very few side effects and have never needed to titrate up from 2.5mg. My plan is to stay on this dose permanently once I reach my target weight of 82kg.

Anyway, I wanted to put this out into the world because I’m feeling so happy this morning and I don’t have a huge group of people I can share this with so thank you for your patience and for reading.

Have a great day!

Question Mounjaro - Getting 2.5mg dose from 7.5mg pen

First time posting, help would be appreciated.

I was on mounjaro last year for a couple of months before I had to stop due to falling pregnant. Before stopping I was about to move up doses to 7.5mg and have since had the pen sitting in my fridge.

It is due to expire in a few months.

Given how expensive they are here in Aus I don’t wish to purchase a new one and waste this one. I was hoping to use this one and then continue by purchasing a new pen.

I understand there is a table which advises how many clicks I would need to achieve a 2.5mg dose.

Has anyone done this before? Do you have any recommendations? How many different doses did you end up getting from the pen?
Should I start by removing with a needle from the get go?
Or do I go ahead with the click method?
If I do 4 doses at the smaller amount using clicks will the pen stop working like it usually does when you do 4 doses? Or will it continue to work as I’m not using the required clicks for that pen?

Hope this all makes sense..

Thanks in advance!

Availability Remboursement

Merci beaucoup.

News / Information [Personal project] PenTracker: GLP-1 injection log + weight by dose. No subscription, no paywall halfway through.

Hey everyone.

When I started treatment, I went looking for an app to log my injections (dose, injection site, weekly weight, side effects). Found one, liked it, used it faithfully for a week.

Then, at the exact moment the data started turning into charts, meaning the exact moment the app was finally going to tell me something, the subscription screen showed up.

What annoyed me wasn't even the price. It was that it was my data. I typed every single line, and the information ended up held hostage by a monthly plan.

Since I work in programming, I built my own. It's good enough to share: it's called PenTracker.

What it does:

  • Log an injection in seconds: substance (tirzepatide, semaglutide, retatrutide), dose, injection site, and side effects. It suggests the site you used longest ago and counts down to your next injection.
  • Weight chart colored by dose (the part I most wanted to see and wasn't allowed to). Your weight line changes color based on the dose you took in the last 7 days, with your goal drawn as a line. You can see, at a glance, what each step of the titration actually did.
  • Estimated medication levels, with a half-life model estimating how much is still in your body. Helps make sense of side effects and switching medications. (It's a mathematical estimate, not a blood test, and it's labeled as such inside the app.)
  • More than the scale: weight, muscle mass, fat, waist circumference, derived body fat %, kg or lb.

About it being free:

After that experience, this point kind of became the whole reason the project exists. No Pro plan, no trial that expires, no locked chart, never asks for a card. No ads, and your health data isn't sold or shared.

And so it's not just a promise: exporting everything to CSV is one click, and deleting your account with every byte along with it is too. If I ever disappear or the app turns into something you don't like, your data leaves with you. That's exactly what was missing for me.

There's an optional "buy me a coffee" link inside the app, and it doesn't unlock anything: supporters get the same app as everyone else.

Disclaimer: it's a logging tool, not medical advice. Dose and schedule are between you and whoever prescribed your treatment.

https://pentracker.info

If you try it, tell me what was missing or what broke. It's in Portuguese and English, and every piece of feedback from here goes on the list.

Tips Week 1 Update: Down 3.1kg 🎉

Hi everyone!

I’m a 31F (165 cm / 5'5") with Lipedema and about 15–20 kg to lose.

I just took my 2nd shot today! I decided to start with a 1.25mg sub-dose (30 clicks on the KwikPen) to ease my body into it and avoid severe side effects.

In my first week, I lost 3.1 kg (6.8 lbs). I know most of it is water retention and reduced inflammation especially with the Lipedema, but my legs already feel lighter and I’m super happy with the start!

I’d love to get some tips:

  1. Any advice for someone microdosing or starting slow?
  2. Tips on managing Lipedema alongside Mounjaro?
  3. Things you wish you knew when you first started?

Thanks in advance ☺️

5mg 7 Monate Mounjaro & kaum Erfolg (vorher Saxenda) – Brauche Mutmacher!

Experience NSV - Making better health decisions

My gym has a rewards program where you get rewarded for going to the gym a certain number of times. And then you get to choose the reward. The options included a smoothie, coffee or whey protein. And I chose the protein! *chuckle* Just pleased that I can make the right choices now with better knowledge and better self control.

Experience Rosie Odonnell dosing with Mounjaro

So I just heard her talking about her Mounjaro journey which is a few years in now. Seems like a an interesting case study. She wanted to go extremely slow so for her entire first year she stayed at 2.5 with an average weight loss of 1 to 2 lb a month and some months no loss at all, but did not increase. The second year 5 mg with the same type of progress. Now year three 7.5 mg. Not sure what her overall total loss is but I thought this was interesting considering there are efficacy studies that show a lot of your progress happens in first 12-18 mo, which is why the titration is encouraged as necessary. I don't know how much total weight she wants to lose but I'm surprised that she wouldn't have wanted more than an 18 lb loss in a year's time. Does anyone else have slow loss happening 3 years in or are you mostly maintenance at this point?
