Just reached the two year mark and I am wondering if it is time to wind down my Minox usage. Very happy with the results so far as I started with only a mustache and chin hairs.
My routine is simple 5% foam twice a day. No derma stamping or any special products besides sunscreen. I try to keep it trimmed under 6mm to maximize skin contact and absorption.
Started age 32, now 34.
Notes: Only had extra dry skin for a few weeks when I first started. I also had to take a nearly month long break in the middle due to a severe sunburn, with no noticeable losses during that time.
Ive been using minoxidil for a year now. I had almost nothing and i got the full beard almost covered. The thing is that i have a very good stubble after 2-4 days without shaving (first photo of my cheeks) and it looks like i have pretty thick beard. The thing is, the most amount of days i let my beard grow is around 10 days because it looks so bad and Thin when i let it grow and i dont know why. After i let it grow for around 10 days it looks like the beard is thinning, if i go up close to a mirror you can see i have lots of hair and good coverage after 10 days but if you look at me from 1 meter of distance you Will see almost nothing. Same on photos, no beard can be seen, just a slight shadow. I dont know what could be the issue. All the male members of my family have lumberjack beards Even my brothers. But for me its weird, i got full coverage but when i let the beard grow it Seems to more thin the more it grows (photo 2 is my moustache from a photo taken on distance and the third photo is the beard thin problem on my cheeks) what can i do? Should i take biotin? should i apply tretinoin? Should i give a chance to 0.5 dermaroller? I need advice please.
Started on June 18 2025 I was inconsistent and used cheap products around nov to January which delayed and destroyed my progress. But still here's where am at now
I just wanted to get some honest opinions from people who have more beard experience than me.
I’ve been using 5% Minoxidil for about 2 months to help fill in my beard. Before that, my beard was much patchier, especially on my cheeks and the area under my chin. The chin and jawline were always my strongest areas, but the cheeks never really connected well.
I recently went to a barber for a proper beard trim and I’m actually starting to feel much more confident with it. A few coworkers have even complimented me, which honestly surprised me.
I’m still not completely happy yet because I know there are a few weaker spots, but compared to how my beard looked before, I feel like I’ve made good progress already.
I’d really appreciate your honest opinions:
How does it look so far?
Do you think it has the potential to become a full beard?
If you’ve used Minoxidil yourself, how much improvement did you see after the first 2 months?
Thanks everyone! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Edit: Ive added 2 Pics of my beard in the comments before ive started minox.
Just posting my starting point, this is me completely clean shaven. I have some hair on my chin, a little on sideburns and some on the mustache but not much in general. A lot of peach fuzz on cheeks, nothing dark though. I’m 23 male, trying to get rid of the baby face so people stop calling me “buddy” all the time as if i’m 16 years old. I’ll post a 3 month update, 6 month and so on.
So the first two pictures were from April of this year, I had let it grow with the help of minoxidil, mind you my starting point was damn near nothing, so happy to see the progress I had made within the 4 month mark, at some point I decided to trim it because it was getting too long, after that I started noticing hair getting less dense between the end of the 4 month mark up until now, is this what they call the shedding phase?
Hi everyone, I've decided to start minoxidil foam 5%, can anyone share their experiences using minoxidil and consuming nicotine products together? Logically I might have to put the zyns down for a while because one is a vasodilator and the other is a vasoconstrictor.
39 years old. This is 6 days of growth. One cheek is much weaker than the other. I’m debating whether to keep growing, keep stubble, or try minoxidil. Looking for honest opinions rather than encouragement.
There may be survivorship bias in the sub considering I don't think people who don't use it anymore won't be on the sub.
I want to start using minoxidil for facial hair since I will likely go bald eventually and I really want to have something on my face to compensate for the chrome dome, but I just found out apparently it's very dangerous to household pets. I made an order on biovea but canceled it right after I found out apparently even a tiny amount can kill cats and dogs.
My mom who I live with has a dog, and I really do not want anything to happen to her.
I mostly interact with the dog in the morning since I wake up and go to sleep much later than everybody else, and my room is upstairs while the dog almost exclusively stays downstairs.
My plan was to apply it in the evening, shower a few hours later, and not interact with the dog until the next morning. But I'm reading on this sub how traces of minoxidil will still be on your face after that, and how even particulates coming off your face are enough to cause problems for animals.
Exactly how safe is it to use around animals? I most likely won't be moving out in a short time since I can't justify the cost (although I also most likely won't be bald in a short time, which is what I want the facial hair for), and I'd rather be safe than sorry and not use it till my living situation has changed, but I also don't want to put it off indefinitely. If it works and stays, then I'd want to have it sooner rather than later.
I'm currently in 4th month. I had some decent progress in the first 2 months but for the last two months I don't see anything good, In fact, it's now less dense in some areas like under chin. (Only difference is the fucking hair growing on my shoulder and my bodyhair getting more dense everywhere else)
Is this the shedding phase everyone talks about? How long it usually lasts? Have any of you guys experienced similar things? I hope I haven't reached the top of my genetic potential.
Hey! Been in minox twice a day since late January 2025.
Started with an absolute babyface, where I could count the number of hairs.
I’m on vacation, so I’m letting it go a little bit for science. It’s still quite ‘pube-ey’, but I am honestly enjoying it, and ever so often when I come across a mirror I think “who is that bearded man?”
The moustache is still annoyingly sparse, but I’m seing so much vellus coming on a weekly basis still so i feel optimistic, and I’m excited to see how far I can push this thing.
I've applied it only for three weeks now. I'm amazed at the results, fuzz is starting to show and I started growing thicker eyebrows and hair under my eyes, I assume the minoxidil is just going through my system . Will these go away? I don't wanna end up being a warewolf.
But I notice that on this week no matter how much I drink and apply moisturizer that it's making my whole face dry and the skin stiff. Any advice on how to make the dryness not so distracting and potentially irritating?
