I run a small company, and designed and printed hundreds of high quality rubber wristbands for my cousin's Crypto conference. I had to do different colours for the different levels of entry.

Out of nowhere yesterday he suddenly announced he was renaming the conference and moving it partially online. And could only afford to pay me if I produced more with the new name. Ive spent a week on this so far and was already giving him family rates.

And worst part? They tell you you can. They keep feeding you slivers of hope. And when you finally figure out it was never meant for you, you've already wasted your entire day.

So I am an amateur swimmer who swims on an almost-daily basis, and it is no exception when I am travelling. This week I'm at Istanbul. This being a very international and touristy city, I didn't expect any problems finding a good olympic size pool. I did a search on Google maps and indeed there are several. So I picked the closest one and went.

This is a large multi-sport complex, with swimming being one of the offerings. I walked up to the reception desk, and with the help of a translation app I communicated my intentions.

Here comes the first surprise. I was told that the pool is not open all day or for a portion of the day. Instead it is only available in fixed 1-hour slots (they used the term "sessions"). Some are open to men, some to women, and some mixed. Okay weird, but being a place with strong Islamic culture I can understand that. I thanked them and said I'll come back at one of those slots.

A few hours later I'm back. Surprise number two: they only accept payment from an Istanbul card. My credit card was no good nor was cash. (Why?) So I took out my red Istanbul card (the one you use for public transport) but no, it has to be a blue Istanbul card that has your photo printed on it (why?). I asked where to get one, and they said it's available at a particular metro station. Arrrrrrgh okay so off I went to get the card.

Getting the card was relatively quick and easy, and I was back in a bit more than an hour, just in time for the next session. Surprise number three: oh sorry you have to book in advance. Me, already fuming internally: ??? Why didn't you tell me the last two times I was here??? And WHY??? Are you really running out of space in a freaking OLYMPIC SIZE POOL??? I kept the conversation cordial but obviously I was not happy at this point.

Fine. I'll book. Here comes surprise number four: you can ONLY book online. Can't even do it in person. Fine I'll use your website. No English of course so I'll have to use the browser translator (thanks Firefox). And of course you have to register an account first. Fine I'll register the account. And of course it asks for a phone number, and of course it only accepts a Turkish number which I don't have. I guess I'll call some Turkish friends; luckily I have some. After a while I got in contact with one who's kind enough to let me use her spare number.

Okay FINALLY everything's sorted right? Wrong because surprise number whatever it is, ***you have to verify your account with a Turkish citizenship number or a foreign resident number***. What??? WHY??? So does that mean as a short-term tourist I was NEVER going to be able to use the public pools to begin with? What the staff said basically amounted to a "seems so". WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME???

At this point it was like 19:30 and I was DONE. Fuck you all and your stupid system. I just wanted to swim. IS IT THAT HARD??? Apparently yes.

Minor clarifications:

1. No I cannot go to another pool. This app booking thingy is used by all public pools in Istanbul as far as I know. Private pools are all much smaller, not to mention difficult/expensive to get into (hotels, gyms, etc.).

2. It seems like this app is used for ALL sports, not just swimming. So in short, Istanbul doesn't want its tourists to do any sports, apparently.

I see it every day. This guy is massively speeding and abruptly cutting off/weaving in and out of cars almost causing four accidents (including me) that I saw - all so that he could end up stopped at the same light as me and everyone else. But hey - he did squeeze himself in between two cars so that he could bolt again as the light turned green to do the same to a different set of cars. Respect gets respect! For those motorcyclists in the minority that do drive appropriately - thank you. It’s too bad there weren’t more of you…

I had an old schoolfriend (red) who I met eight years ago when we were kids. We were best friends until he moved away to Wales three years ago, at which point our relationship became online. We were still close - I went to Wales four times to meet him throughout the three years and it was great.

Up until today when a little Discord server we built for friends was nuked, and suspicion fell on me because I was hacked… in 2025.

By now I had already factory reset my computer and tried proving it was not me who did the nuke, but apparently the hacking incident from 2025 was enough to prove my guilt - even one of his new friends (blue), with his BRILLIANT computer knowledge, deduced that the malware was still there, and I was still hacked and therefore a “liability“ to them. They didn’t hear me out whatsoever, and thus was the end of an eight year long relationship.

Call me butthurt all you want, it’s just Discord at the end of the day. It just infuriates me that the friendship was ended on the worst note possible - being blamed for something you didn’t do and doubling down without having a clue what you are saying.

Plastic feeling body, printed instead of moulded logo, just feels cheap in the hand compared to my old reliable.

The new 1501 model is the exact same, I just happened to get the smaller size from a 2 pack my boss bought

Edit: Confusion was caused because although these are different models, the larger knife in the two pack is identical in size and design to my old one minus the material differences.

Jokes aside. I Tried cleaning with dish soap and detergent but it didn’t work. I normally dont leave my shoes outside my apartment but I had to this time since I was cleaning my apartment. I left it outside for less than 2 hrs.

For context, the past 2 weeks my landlord has reached out to me saying that someone complained that my cat has been loud everytime I’m at work. It’s uncharacteristic so I told my landlord that I’ll find a cat daycare or babysitter soon as I start with my 2nd job.

I know my shoes are pretty worn, and clearly I can’t afford to get new shoes so I guess I’ll just have to be artistic and paint over it lol. Honestly, fuck people.

Edit: To people saying just get a camera, even if i wanted to I just simply cant afford it.

Edit 2: For people saying if I cant afford a camera how will I afford a sitter, I mentioned that I’ll start my 2nd job, it will be next month. So I’ll have more income I’ll be able to budget a bit more freely.

I had a Zoom call with my boss to train the new folks who will be taking over my previous responsibilities. Midway through the call, I noticed that my boss’s shared screen was missing all of my uploaded files that should be visible. After lots of troubleshooting, it turns out that the web administrator forgot to include my email in the access to the new drive last July. I’ve been uploading my documents in the same drive I’ve used for four years, unaware that it was defunct. The gag is no one probably would’ve noticed for years had I not brought it up, and I only noticed by happenstance. I just wanted to make sure the trainees would have access to the files they need. No good deed goes unpunished; trust me, I’m not looking forward to digging through the hundreds of nested folders and transferring each file over😫.

The first pic is what is advertised for dunkin donuts loaded hasbrowns. The 2nd Pic is what me and my coworker got when ordering from there using Uber eats. They straight up put cheese Wiz on instead of melted queso (queso is how its described in the uber eats app). We've both gotten this before and it never looked like this 😭 I just wanted my unhealthy hashbrowns:( I will say though, uber eats did give me a refund.

For context i had already paid for everyone to go to an escape room since he likes that kinda stuff and it was abt 35 per person for a group of 6. Money was alr kinda tight before the escape room but i genuinely couldn’t afford to take anyone out to eat. Everyone else loved it and even grabbed seconds but I could tell he was disappointed by it. I feel bad abt it so maybe i could make it up to him by taking him out when i have the money.

He handed it to me laughing. Wouldn't say what was on my head or why I appear to have one ear. Really living up to his  middle child status.

UPDATE -- wow, did not expect this post to spark such discussion! I told my son that soooo many people are in awe of his artistic abilities and the biggest grin came across his face. So, thank you, Redditors. ❤️

He then asked if the site mascot could be replaced with his drawing for a day and I told him best I could do was update my profile pic. So I did. 😁
