Discussion Which celebrities (or popular voice actor) do you imagine voicing X, Zero, and Sigma?

Upvotes

Let's say there was a series of anime OVA films of each (numbered) Mega Man X game and it received an english dub that cast celebrities and/or popular voice actors.
Which of those do you imagine voicing X, Zero and Sigma?
Only 1 person per character for your answer because It'll make things more interesting.

I think scorch wheel is the worst shield weapon in the entire series

Upvotes

the projectiles are incredibly small, it does puny damage, it uses so much damn ammo, it's in a game that already has a shield weapon in it (and a really good one at that) so why would I use the one that's definitely worse than the one I already have, why would I use it on the bosses that's weak to it when they both already have a weakness that works much better, honestly all its good for is unlocking beat

Discussion I really dislike MMX and I don’t see why it gets so much love.

So the other day I tried MMX as someone who had enjoyed the zero/zx series and 11 so I thought it would be a fun challenge with some cool abilities. I was soooo wrong.
The game was fine for the first area where you lose to Sigma, then I got into the main stages, and wow, I was appalled. Like most mega man games you choose where you want to go, so I chose a random stage and played through, it was tough and I died some times but I didn’t mind. Then I got to the first ability in chill penguin I got it and then made my way to the boss, I died in the fight which was fine but to my surprise dying in the boss room takes you ALLL the way back to the beginning stage, you lose any ability you gained and have to go back to the pod, mash though some annoying text to progress, watch a short cutscene then walk all the way back to the room. Just to die and repeat that all over again.
To add on to that, you start with 3 lives and if you use them all you obviously get a game over, so I assumed that meant going all the way back to the stage select, BUT NO, you go ALLLL the way back to the very beginning and have to go through the first stage and mash through text and a cutscene. It was honestly baffling how poorly designed it was for a game that’s designed to be difficult, doesn’t give you check points, saves, or time saves, it just sucks your time and expects you to like it.
I put the game down because it was just too much progress wasting every time I retried. AND DID I MENTION the game has passwords instead of saving to a battery like most SNES games, meaning you can’t even find a good stopping point or go back mid stage. Even if you do use passwords you end up loosing all abilities WHICH IS UTTER BULLSHIT.
Sorry if my sentences are structured oddly as I’m not a native English speaker.

Edit: apparently my rom/emulator triggered anti piracy which is most likely why the game was unbearably difficult for no reason, I will try to play the collection version and maybe make a post on my thoughts after.

So apparently Vol. 1 of Mega Man Adventures has been delayed yet again, so I’ve been thinking about checking out Ariga’s works in the meantime. However, I’m seeing a bunch of titles like Megamix, Gigamix, and Mastermix. I read that Mastermix is made up of older stories, but apparently it’s missing content. So is there a definitive order to the stories, and if so, what’s the best way to read them (that doesn’t involve piracy)?

Fan Game The best Megaman Fangame

My childhood favorite fangame had to be without a doubt Megaman: Rock Force. Everything about the game is good. The robot masters, all SIXTEEN of them, are the most creative I’ve seen to this day. But my highlight is the OST, which is the best in megaman fangame history handsdown in contest with Megaman: Unlimited.

I 💛 Megaman: ROCK FORCE

Discussion Any word on Megaman X2

My 2nd favorite game in the MMX series, it's a perfect sequel to the first MMX

Not only you need to battle all bosses but also the X-hunters to help Dr.Cain reassembling Zero (if not you can fight Zero before Sigma's boss fight)

The weapons are good in this game, didn't had problem using theme or them being boring/useless (I still can't understand Magnet Mine's black hole)

The armor is a great improvement of what the first game gave us (which will later inspire most armor upgrades), you don't dash anymore but air-dash with the leg part, the buster shot is...... I definitely don't know what to say on it but it's just too long to wait until the fourth charge besides that it's better than having to charge super long just to waste everything, with 2 shots you can manage the time to use them, the body part can let you accumulate damages to charge the giga crash (useful against mini bosses or for several enemies at the same time) but also reduce received damages by 50% just like the first one. The head part who even talks about this one ???

The game difficulty just like MegaMan 5, it let you win, giving a impression that the game seems easy compared to X1

Soundtracks is a BLESSING !

The main bosses are good with new mechanics but just like I said in the game difficulty, they're relatively easy to get a win against even without their weaknesses, the real deal in difficulty are the X-hunters and Zero

Sigma's boss fight, it's still like the main bosses he's easy to pull a win even without his weakness, his attacks are too predictable and easy to dodge. In his virus form the difficulty is slightly higher but I'm not gonna talk about that one.

Gameplay I don't know what to say on it but I found the same result as the previous game

Discussion Old Mega Man Fansites (RIP Tripod + Angelfire)

Have actually been meaning to post something about old fan-sites, so I guess now's the time! Post your links and archive links to Mega Man fan-sites here, so we can all revisit them!

Probably like many of you, I grew up on the early internet discovering a lot of Mega Man fan-sites. There was lots of fan art, fanfiction, rumors, game tricks and passwords, and so on. It was a lot of fun to be part of that community.

Anyway- Just found out that Lycos shut down Tripod and Angelfire hosting, which took with it in April 2026 a few sites which have been around since the 90s and early 2000s, so I thought I'd make this post.

Some notable examples which were online until April (links are archive links, so you can visit them):

Honorable mentions (on Tripod/Angelfire but broken earlier than April 2026):

  • Zephiroth X's "Shadow Cavern" A little busted due to the site using frames for navigation (I linked to the nav frame). Zephiroth's site is notable to me because it had such cool pixel art, even though it's mostly Sephiroth-themed reworks of Mega Man sprites. Such a product of its time! It inspired me to be a pixel artist, which is what I do today along with game dev. It's also notable because I remember it (or a previous incarnation of this site) was the first place I saw the name Egoraptor (of Game Grumps fame) online, such a long time ago.

Broken/defunct but not on Tripod/Angelfire:

  • Mechadrake Assemblies Inc. This one was working until late 2025. Mechadrake was the homepage of Nadia Oxford, spouse of Mega Man Network's David Oxford ("LBD 'Nytetrayn'"). I remember visiting her site back in the day and enjoying the fanfics, especially "Bass is Not a Fish" and "Trip Through Your Wires." She recently released a book! ("From Pixels to Prose: What Video Games Taught Me About Storytelling")
  • Sinister Six Art, custom sprites, fanfics and more.
  • Stardroids.net A non-sprite comic with decent art that updated into 2010.

Still alive and kickin':

  • Sprites Inc. [Static archive] A repository of Mega Man sprites, useful for pixel art reference, fangames, webcomics, and more. It recently suffered a server shutdown, resulting in the loss of its forum and wiki. Its sprite collection has been preserved on the site, which is now a static archive.
  • The Mega Man Network [Regularly updated] Still alive and updated today, this is a good source of Mega Man news. It has roots tracing back to the fansite "Mega Man X Online" back in 2000.
  • Protodude's Rockman Corner [Regularly updated] Hands down, the best source for bleeding-edge Mega Man news! Thank you for your work, /u/ProtodudeRMC! I love when you unveil betas + prototypes.
  • The Mega Man Homepage [Regularly updated] Can't believe this is not only still around, but still updated! It's a great resource for MM game tips and passwords, and also a lot of fanfics I read back in the day.
  • Sivak Drac's Mega Man Page [Online, but defunct] I remember visiting this one and really liking the page design, and it got me into HTML. Sivak also arranged a lot of MIDIs and did some rom hacking, eventually going on to release Battle Kid and its sequel for NES/Xbox/Switch. The MM page isn't updated anymore, but Sivak maintains a Youtube channel.
  • Bob and George [Online, no longer updated] The quintessential Mega Man fancomic. I read it when I was a kid, and it was and still is a lot of fun!

Some sites I remember visiting but can't find or haven't had the time to look for yet:

  • Zero X Phoenix's "Ultimate Mega Man X and Zero Website" (Had custom sprites)
  • Mega Man: Robotic War Machine (Had custom sprites and a cool MIDI playing in the background, naturally)
  • Engine of Destruction Mega Man
  • Planet Mega Man (was a good news site back in the day)
  • Atomic Fire (run by a person going by "Heat Man")

I'll edit this post to update as I remember/rediscover more. Looking forward to seeing what sites you all remember!

Discussion Choosing Ring Man as the "Sharp" representative instead of Metal Man or Cut Man actually makes for a fun pick.

Hey r/Megaman!

I’ve always been fascinated by fan game roster design, so I set out to build an ideal, hypothetical classic Mega Man lineup using only existing Robot Masters.

To make it a legitimate design challenge, I locked myself into 4 strict rules:

  1. Strictly 1 Robot Master per mainline game (No stacking MM2/MM3 picks).
  2. No overlapping environment themes (Must feel like 8 distinct stages).
  3. 8 distinct functional archetypes (Sharp, Explosive, Barrier, Sky, Speed, Ice, Construction, Electric).
  4. A logically consistent weakness chain from start to finish.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! If you had to follow these exact same rules, who is the one Robot Master you’d swap out, and how does it ripple through your weakness chain?
