I’m planning to buy a Gran Turismo over the next year. It’s been my dream car since I was 15 and always loved the way they sound. I’m looking at something newer than 2013.

But my question, is there much of a sound difference between the Sport and MC? Is it worth paying more for the MC for the centre exhaust? I live in Canada and there aren’t many, but the ones available are quite a bit more.

I was down in Los Angeles for a weekend and figured there’s no better time to rent one of my long time dream cars! A Maserati Granturismo. Specifically the 2015 MC. Ever since seeing one at a cars and coffee as a kid I knew I had to drive one. I had high hopes for this car and it definitely did not let me down. I’ll admit I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about Maseratis reliability, which is why I chose to rent one first before I actually pull the trigger and purchase one for myself.

The first thing I noticed upon arriving at the car was the seriously sticky interior. Maybe it’s just due to this one being a rental and “rode hard and put away wet” per se but more than just the commonly talked about “sticky buttons” welcomed me. The dashboard and leather trim was just for lack of better words, goopy. I’d run my fingers over the dash or the switches and be left with black residue on them. And the wear on the leather and other trim pieces really shocked me, being the car only had 57 thousand miles. Was this specific vehicle just abused or is the quality of Maserati/Stellantis vehicles really that abysmal? But being that I drive old Lincoln’s with 250k miles, a bit of wear did not bother me.

And the driving experience absolutely made up for the subpar interior quality. I was afraid it would be one of those “never meet your heros” moments but the Ferrari derived v8 really gave me more than enough power to have some fun with, especially once it hit the power band just right, it absolutely put me back in the drivers seat. We took it out to the canyons and it felt very planted going around sharp corners, with a bit of understeer at a couple points. Although heavy acceleration was also met with a slight burning smell and extremely loud engine fans, despite constant checking of the temp gauges and normal levels. Me and my partner theorized the smell could have been a burn off of carbon from the car not being pushed for quite some time, yet it came back again and again over the weekend. The fans we had no excuse for, just slightly louder than normal. I much preferred the freeway cruises. Effortlessly stood at 80-85 without even hesitating. In the city it preformed ok, seemed a bit jerky at times, especially if I forgot to take it out of sport mode which was to be expected.

As for the driving position, it’s definitely not a car meant for short people. I’m 5’4 and wasn’t able to adjust the seat to be 100% comfortably positioned. Speaking of the seat controls, I wasn’t a huge fan of where they were located. The position I rest my left leg in, kept bumping them and accidentally moving the seat. And tech and Audio options, I won’t even start on those. I gave up on the seriously laughably outdated infotainment system. The speakers were blown in the rear (again I’ll put that up to being a used and abused rental car), on the freeway I couldn’t tell if the speaker was blown or if it was my exhaust popping. I eventually realized the speakers were definitely blown.

I could go on and on about the driving experience but no one wants to read all that. Don’t listen to my complaints, it’s a rental, I’m sure a personal vehicle will be in a lot better shape. Overall I absolutely LOVED the car and the fun I had mostly made up for the outdated tech and sticky interior.

TLDR: Sticky cheap feeling interior but REALLY loved the car other than that. Did people really pay 150k for one of these new?

These cars are simply beautiful to look at. Bought this 2018 at the end of 2024. Put over 10k miles and not a problem with it.

Hey everyone,
I have a 2023 Maserati Grecale Trofeo with the Nettuno engine. The car has only been serviced once so far, and the second service is coming up in about 2,000 km (I’ll be at 30,000 km).
Today, while driving on the highway, I went full throttle, and the check engine light flashed once and then immediately disappeared. The car seemed to drive normally afterward with no noticeable loss of power or other warning messages.
Has anyone experienced something similar with the Nettuno engine or Grecale Trofeo? Any idea what could cause a single flashing check engine light under hard acceleration?
I’m planning to have it checked, but I was curious if this is a known issue or if anyone has had a similar experience.

Fun little achievement a day before the 2 month anniversary! This is BY FAR my favorite car I have ever owned/driven.

The dark gray colored section below the grille and right above the fangs looks odd to me. I appreciate them trying to give it a more aggressive look but I think I prefer the pre-facelift look. I do like the new fangs in the lower bumper, however.

Stock has been low nationally lately so I figured I'd put this out into the universe.

I'm looking for a 2018 (for the newer infotainment system) Maserati Granturismo MC in black. Hard top. Black interior is ideal but I'd go for Rosso.

MC isn't a deal-breaking deciding factor, but if I'm going in, I'm at least aiming for the spec I want.

Hello! Title is the question. Maserati dealership claiming I have to pay $8,900 to certify a 2022 Ghibli with 20K miles. Legit or scam?

I would’ve thought the dealership would have CPO’d the vehicle prior to it being placed in sellable inventory.

I am looking into a 2022-2024 Levante, I found one with 16k miles, lease car, good CARFAX. The dealer has replaced the front brake rotors, and tires, and have done an oil change.

Anyone here own a Maserati Modena trim?

I was just wondering about a couple of things:

1. Reliability, are these cars really as bad as they say? I test drove one and it was honestly phenomenal. But i dont know if these are cars that tend to have a lot of costly issues.

2. Parts availability. They stopped making the Maseratis with this engine after the 2024 Ultima trim, is it likely finding parts 5 to 10 years down the line will be difficult? I dont want to be in a situation where the car is in the shop, and the part takes a month and a lot of money to ship from somewhere.

Any thoughts, guidance, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Probably none due to the low sales volume nationwide and then the Seattle dealership said they don't sell or service them since Maserati wanted them to spend $500k+ to add EV infrastructure to their dealership. Looks like Oregon is the same way. I can get one in CA but then would have to ship it back for service.

I’m looking for some advice before potentially buying a Maserati Quattroporte and would really appreciate opinions from people who know these cars.

I’ve found a 2006 Maserati Quattroporte M139 for around £3,300. It has covered 104,550 km (around 65,000 miles), which seems quite low considering the age.

Details:

• 2006 Maserati Quattroporte
• 4.2L Ferrari-built V8
• Around 65k miles
• Black exterior
• Leather interior
• Full service history available
• Previous MOT history available
• Clutch replacement paperwork available

The owner seems very honest and has disclosed all the issues rather than hiding anything.

Issues:

1. Variators / cold start rattle

The owner says the variators have never been replaced and that the car has a rattle on cold starts most of the time, but not always.

Once warmed up, the noise disappears and the car drives perfectly.

Questions:

• How serious is this if it is only present on cold starts?
• Is this something that can be monitored and lived with temporarily?
• Would most Quattroporte buyers immediately walk away because the variators haven't been done?

2. Electrical warnings

The car currently has:

• Passenger side brake light warning (not the bulb)
• Parking sensor warning
• Fog light warning
• The clock does not retain the time after the car has been sitting

The owner mentioned the battery has gone flat a few times because the car was not always kept on a trickle charger.

Questions:

• Do these sound like normal age-related electrical faults?
• Or do they suggest a bigger issue such as a body control module/electrical system fault?
• If the lights are false warnings, can they be permanently coded out like on BMWs using tools such as NCS Expert?
• Is there any Maserati equivalent software that allows coding changes, or do these cars usually require the actual fault to be repaired?

I was considering getting an Autel AP200 or similar diagnostic tool to scan all modules.

3. Belt noise

I noticed a squeaking noise from the engine bay in the video.

The owner isn't certain what it is.

Would this most likely be:

• auxiliary belt,
• tensioner,
• pulley,
• alternator/A/C component,

or is there anything specific to check on the F136 V8?

The owner says:

• It drives very well.
• It has only covered a few hundred miles since the last MOT.
• It has never failed an MOT previously.
• The oil is still clean.
• It has service records.
• The clutch has been replaced and paperwork is available.
• It is now stored properly and kept on a trickle charger.

The reason I’m interested is because similar Quattroportes seem to be advertised much higher, but I know a cheap Maserati can quickly become an expensive one.

My plan would be:

• sort the small faults,
• get it MOT'd,
• give it a proper detail,
• then either keep it or possibly move it on.

Would you consider this:

1. A genuine bargain because the issues are already priced in?
2. A risky buy where the low price is hiding expensive problems?
3. Worth buying only if I negotiate further?

Would appreciate any advice from Quattroporte owners or Maserati specialists.

2017 Levante — the plastic peg on the rear trim that the cargo cover cord hooks onto snapped off. Pics: good side first, broken side second (looks like just a screw head left).

Is it threaded in or a push-in clip? And is it sold as its own part, or only with the whole trim panel? Anyone fixed this?
