Am I going crazy? I thought it was "Interview with a vampire". On Tubi it says "Interview with THE vampire"

I grew up in Colombia, and when I was a kid I used to see Philips light bulb commercials all the time. Back then I didn't know any English, so I read words the way they are read in Spanish.

Because of that, I never read PH as an F sound. To me it was just a P, since the H is silent in Spanish. And LL is pronounced more like the English Y sound.

So in my head, I always read the brand as something like "Pee-yes."

That's why I clearly remember it being spelled Phillips with two L's. It just made sense to my brain as a kid. I wasn't thinking about English pronunciation at all.

I know the official spelling has always been Philips, but this Mandela Effect has always been one of the strongest ones for me because I can actually remember how I used to read the word when I was little.

I was quite shocked to learn they’re American and apparently I’m not the only one. Where did the assumption come from?
