Visions of Mana Expert Difficulty Recommendations
That’s another wrap on the end boss! I’ve started my new game plus and want to see how far I can get on Expert without changing difficulties along the way. But even in my first playthrough I had to switch to easy or normal for bosses like the black rabbite, elemental trials challenges and the final boss. Has anyone here beat the game on expert? And if so, did you even enjoy it? But mostly I guess I’m looking for gameplay tips for bosses. Regular adds/mobs won’t seem to be a problem.

Final Fantasy Adventure / Sword of Mana / Adventures of Mana Has Sword of Mana become the forgotten game in the franchise?
I realize it’s a remake of the original GB game, it’s interesting it doesn’t seem to get talked about a whole lot. And it wasn’t added to the Mana Collection so I feel like a lot of people haven’t played nor beat this one. I sat down and actually beat it for the first time, and I have mixed thoughts on it.
Pros
-Graphics are beautiful
-Gameplay is more fun than original and feels like later games
-They really expanded on the original game
Cons
-They tried to expand the original game too much, honestly way too much dialogue that disrupts pacing
-it’s nice they added side quests but most are horrible fetch quests that aren’t worth your time
-Some of the later bosses feel a bit unbalanced even with really strong equipment
It’s interesting because overall I can’t say it’s undeniably better than the original and I still enjoy the original more in some ways.

They all (?) have different world maps. Secret and Trials are definitely not connected. Are there Mana games that are connected?

Trials of Mana ToM Tandem Play
TLDR: Doing a tandem playthrough of Trials of Mana—OG first, then remake to the same point. The remake is way smoother, but the OG Harcypete fight was a brutal item-burning grind. Should I grind to class change now, or keep going and accept that OG bosses are just tougher?
I’m having FUN enjoying a tandem play of Trials of Mana. I appreciate how streamlined the progression of the game is in the remake. For example, I play up to the next boss fight in the Collections of Mana version in the switch to get as close to the original experience. Then I play it on PS5 to the same point. Love how faithful of a remake this is, down to the word for word npc dialog.
I’ve spent twice as much time (nearly 10 hours) of wandering and grinding trying to remember where in the fetch the wind cave is cause it’s not either side of split stone gap or near the dwarf cave haha (out of Palo btw I figured it out) and fight the boss at lvl 13.
Really tough fight. I used all of my chocolate and candy stores and almost all of my Cup of Wishes plus all of my darts cause I got tired of waiting for Harcypete to come down close enough to attack her. Fun fight though. I love the feel of victory after a bit of a challenge. Learn I can’t quite switch classes yet. That’s fine I’ll get there.
Now swap to the remake, I enter Gust Hall at like lvl 18, (mind you I’m like at 5 hr of gameplay instead of 10) Harcypete is a breeze, walk back to the stone and I’m already lvl 23 🤣, sweet. Now I’m thinking, dang, the OG is one heck of a grind.
I’m still having fun but should I grind this area out on the switch until I can switch classes? Or just keep going and expect boss battles to be harder? Everything before this wasn’t bad, so maybe it was just the added flying mechanic and semi clumsy legacy controls that made it hard. Regular enemies seem about on par with the remake.

Other Mana Games / Media Speculative Hot Take: The Adventures of Elliot is actually a Mana Series Origin Story (Actual TAoE Map Spoiler) Spoiler
galleryMost mana games have a few iconic biomes. There’s usually have a volcano in the west somewhere, a cold biome up north, some kind of desert, and a mix of forests. Adventures of mana doesn’t fit the mold as much but still has the main biomes. Tell me (pictured) that it’s a Mana game without telling me it’s a mana game. Or as the studio would have it, It’s inspired by a Mana game but it’s not. Yeah right, so far, everything I’m reading in the discoverable in-game manuscripts points to placing Trials of Mana, spiritually if not literally, in between the two Prologue Demo Ages, including mention of the Hero King, a conflict with beast-men, and a original settlement in the east after some magic water showed up after some volcano activity. What’s on the east of the map (huge possibly mid to late game spoiler,) It’s a really freaking big tree (this is not intended to be revealed in the demo but am out of the map glitch allows you to preview a large majority of the map) where the magic water spring up. (This bit in the manuscripts) Plus the main princess Heuria, looks a lot like Hinna from Visions, and is cursed as says the trailer and is more or less some kind of Alm. For the record, you heard it first here. 🤣

Trials of Mana Why do you think Seiken Densetsu 3’s sales fell short of Squaresoft's expectations back in 1995-1996?
It’s well-known that Squaresoft had a strict internal policy at the time requiring major titles to hit 1 million sales in Japan within their release fiscal year.
Despite being a masterpiece, Seiken Densetsu 3 missed this benchmark, finishing its launch window somewhere around 800,000+ units. Because it was flagged as an internal disappointment, Square opted out of the expensive Western localization process, which completely changed the trajectory of the Mana series. Also, translating the game meant it wouldn't fit on the cartridge anymore, and a bigger cartridge increased the financial risks of publishing a game so late in the life of the SNES.
Given how massive Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2) was, why do you think its follow-up missed the mark in Japan?

Final Fantasy Adventure / Sword of Mana / Adventures of Mana 35 years late to the party, but still holds up surprisingly well in 2026
That was one of the best games I’ve ever played and that’s saying something reaching all the way back to gameboy era! I loved how enemy weaknesses and immunities encouraged you to actually switch things up. Loved the puzzle mechanics, breakable walls and guest party member advantages. This is one of the simplest yet tightly designed games. I achieved max stamina (hp) and will stats (how quickly your special charges) right before the final battle(s). Super satisfying short game that doesn’t waste the players time and doles out plenty of rewards to keep you overpowered without having to grind. Already working my way through Adventures of Mana on mobile. Great faithful remake!

Final Fantasy Adventure / Sword of Mana / Adventures of Mana Where to go after Mana Statue in the Jadd dessert? Spoiler
I got the spirit already and got to the mana statue to save. After that there is this area with a whole bunch of treasure chests that bite lol and this waterfall that should have a door. I checked the area beneath this that should have a cleared waterfall as well but I can’t get the waterfalls to show the doors as I seen in gameplay and tutorials. I beat all the enemies and checked all the boxes and can’t find how to open both waterfalls? I don’t know how I beat this game as a kid with no help lol help please? Sorry about the pic.

Dawn of Mana Question about Dawn of Mana
So, currently I am streaming the whole Mana Series, almost finished with Legend of Mana.
I like to do some progression things with my layouts, as in, for example, in Secret of Mana I displayed the weapons and spirits on the side of the gameplay, letting them appear as soon as I got them, for Trials I did that with the spirits and in Legend I track Quests completed and Artifacts obtained.
As Dawn is the only game I never played, is there something like that I can do too?
Like, do you collect the spirits or something?
As minor as spoilers as possible please :D

Trials of Mana Trials of Mana Remake - PS4
Just completed the PS4 remake on PS5. Angela Main / Reisz / Duran. A couple of observations:
-Game was really fun. A lot of people say it's too easy, but for a casual gamer like myself Normal felt just right. Most of the game no problem, a handful of spikes that were a problem. Replaying from scratch on Hard right now.
-AI was awful. They seemed to never dodge reliably and would sometimes just stand around doing nothing. Healing and reviving them while not dying myself kept me busy.
-The graphics felt very "Mana series". I put close to 100 hours into Legend of Mana on PS1 and the artistic style felt familiar and nostalgic for a veteran of LoM.
-Music was incredible.
-Core mechanics were simple, easy to understand. It let me focus on having a good time. Nothing felt like a chore.
-Dungeon complexity was just right. Enough branching paths to make it interesting, but not crazy like some games where it's frustrating try to keep track of where you've been and where you are going.
-Class system offers a variety of gameplay styles for each character, and allows you to build some interesting teams. Chain abilities gained from one character can be used on others. It's simple yet very well designed, and offers a lot of replay value on NG+ or repeat runs. Some of the costumes are pretty awesome too.
-I didn't notice that the game ran any faster or looked any better on the PS5. My eyesight isn't the greatest though and I'm colorblind so there is that.
Overall, definitely would recommend!
