Sharing the trailer for my dark comedy short film, Mein Surname, a UK made independent film shot in and around London.

It follows a man called David J. Hitler trying to convince people he’s a good person, despite his notorious surname.

It's releasing in September, thanks to anyone who takes the time to watch.

I've just recently found out that Vitsoe Sofas/chairs are made in the UK. They never come up as a furniture company that make all their stuff (as far as I'm aware) in the UK so I thought I'd add it to people's lists if they had missed them off.

I've generally been looking for made in the UK modern styled furniture. Not to put down the high end coach made British furniture out there. It's just nice to know that there is some variety. If anyone has other suggestions for modern styled British made furniture add them down below.

I was in Bolton bright and early this morning with Upender trying to figure out how to get the buttonholes sorted on the new Durber overshirts.

It turns out that although the cloth is made from cotton, the way it is woven means it is sometimes used on the front panels of bulletproof vests… which explains why the standard buttonhole machine was having an absolutely miserable time trying to get through it.

So we moved onto the next best solution.

A Reece buttonhole machine is normally used on outerwear, coats, jackets and other thick bits of clothing, and is designed to sew and cut through multiple heavy layers at once.

Luckily, with a bit of persuasion, it managed the job. Otherwise we would’ve ended up selling shirts with no buttons which, although very fashion-forward, may have caused problems.

It was also quite nice seeing a machine from the mid-80s still doing a proper job in the damp hills of Bolton.

I probably wouldn’t recommend using the shirt as an actual bulletproof vest though. Unless somebody attacks you with a standard buttonhole machine, in which case you should be absolutely fine.

Accrington’s second best clothing brand checking in.

I realised I don’t really have anywhere to post about how a small clothing brand in Lancashire actually operates, so this is where I’ll be putting updates about how things are made, why they’re made and occasionally what goes wrong along the way.

This week has been dedicated to a new Durber overshirt made from a cloth woven for us in Quebec.

I was chatting with Upender in Bolton yesterday (who makes the shirts for us) and he told me that although the fabric is relatively lightweight, it’s an absolute nightmare to buttonhole properly.

So tomorrow I’m driving over to stand next to a sewing machine, stroke my chin thoughtfully and contribute absolutely nothing useful apart from making tea.

If any of this sounds even vaguely interesting, feel free to follow along.

A client of mine is looking to produce some simple branded merchandise to promote their company, mainly apparel, so caps, sweatshirts and t-shirts. I’m trying to find a UK-based supplier that can handle custom orders, offer good quality products, and work with a resonable quantitiy - probably looking at 250 items in total for the first run.

The challenge I’m running into is that many of the UK suppliers I’m finding are quite small/ artisanal, and not really set up to handle this kind of order at scale.

Would really appreciate recommendations or leads!

Been trying to buy only UK made as much as I can, especially for clothes, but have generally found the prices to be very high outside of sales. However stumbled across Norman Walsh for trainers, which are mostly made in Bolton and have loads of styles, a few of which are similar to New Balance and other non-uk brand pricing (and they seem to always have some discounted).

It is a small dashboard that reads the latest UK Fuel Finder CSV snapshot, shows whether the data looks fresh or stale, and lets you find the cheapest nearby stations for a chosen fuel type by entering a postcode.

I'm looking for a new stand blender, it needs to have a powerful motor to blend soups to silky smoothness, make smoothies with ice etc and must be able to handle hot foods. I don't need bells & whistles just a lot of power 😁

Vitamix are brilliant but I'm wondering if there's one that can match performance that is UK /EU made, any recommendations are much appreciated!

I suspect it’s the smallest commercially available chess set but until I’m a little more confident I’ll be hiding behind various qualifiers. 😅

That said, I don’t believe there is anything else quite like it. Each set uses 109 neodymium magnets, all pieces can be stored inside and it’s 100% recyclable.

The board is 45x45mm in area, 6mm thick and the pieces have a base diameter of 4mm. There are many different colour options but no photos to do them justice just yet.

This is The Heritage, Excell, a range of fully British-made, tin-lined copper cookware we’ve been developing and manufacturing here in the UK.

Every pan is made through a small network of eight UK SMEs, supporting around 130 skilled jobs across the supply chain. The copper bodies are traditionally metal-spun, then hand tin-lined, with cast-iron handles that are riveted on for strength and longevity. No PFAS, no chemical coatings — just copper, tin, and iron.

We’ve taken a very buy once, buy well approach. These pans are designed to last decades and can be re-lined and reused when needed, rather than replaced and thrown away.

Before launching, the pans were tried and tested by Gill Meller and Gary Pearce (head chef at 36 on the Quay), both of whom were kind enough to give very positive feedback on the heat control, balance, and overall feel. That validation meant a lot to us, especially as this was built quietly and properly rather than rushed.

The video shows a bit of the finished cookware and the result of that process. Not here to hard-sell — just proud of what’s being made in Britain and happy to answer any questions about the materials, manufacturing, or why we chose copper in the first place.
