Just bought an embroidery machine second hand - Janome Memory Craft 350e - and decided to make life difficult and design my own motif as someone who has never ever even used an embroidery machine before. Turned out quite well though if I do say so myself. I downloaded inkscape/inkstitch and used a picture of my doggo to draw out my design.

I told my friend I would make her a Lizzie McGuire shirt for a Hillary Duff concert. I’m so new to embroidering so I did a trial run on the design I bought from Etsy. How do I make her face look less distorted? Any tips would be so helpful 😭 I have the Brother se600

I’m using a 4x4 magnetic hoop with mesh cutaway stabilizer, stretchy jersey cotton, and clear wash away stabilizer on top. This is the design I’m seeing in embrilliance, but when it stitches out (with and without hidden stitches removed) the A’s look like they’re missing a stitch where they connect on the left side, and with the darker thread it looks like my backstitches are crooked. Looking for pointers to fix this. I was thinking I will try a traditional hoop with the cutaway mesh hooped and float the fabric and wash away and use a basting stitch, but I’m not sure what else I should change that might make an improvement.

I thought id share the new stitch outs after ive made adjustments.

1.increased gradient percentage of the secondary gradient color and rotated it clockwise roughly 20°

1. Added 1.5mm border

3.changed out the black for purple.

Enjoying the brighter colors, I used a lavender as the secondary for the yellow ring pop. The yellow completely nullified it. So it mostly looks yellow which wasn't the intention.

What do you think? What color combos should I try next?

I want to know which has got better result. If anybody can help?

Is there a basic software that is free or very low cost? I limped along with 5D for more years than I thought I could, but the machine is not starting now. I tried to install on my next oldest computer (5 years old), but it won’t work. Any online suggestions? I see a few choices. What do folks suggest. I only need it for getting my designs to the thumb drive and for making text labels for quilts.

Trying a new gradient feature in ember embroidery and its working pretty well. In this design i used a fill gradient, duplicated it and inverted the duplicate. I removed the underlay since they overlap.

I used a black/white combo thread on the orange ring pop. I cant decide if I like it.

Im typing out a name using the preinstalled university font in essentials. I want the name on the far right side of the hoop but every time I save it and reopen the .pes the name is recentered. It does save the correct positioning on the working file. I do not want to move it once it is sent to my machine as I feel like the measuring will be off. I’m new, so Thank you for any help!

Can I use such a large spool with my machine? If so, how? 😁

I attempted to create and use this design I digitized with hatch. For some reason when put on the machine it begins to overlap on top of the other portions of the design. On both the digitizing software and the actual screen on the actual machine, it shows that the designs are not overlapping. Have you seen this before and what can I do to fix this? Do I need to add extra space when digitizing? Though with this issue how do you even know if its going to be enough?

My machine is the brother PE 535. I have had issues with this machine skipping stitches or whole sections of embroidery then, after running the file a second time it's totally fine. ???

Tension is at a 3 due to the thread type.

Tear away stabilizer properly seated in the hoop. I use a magnetic hoop to float things, I find much easier when multi hooping.

I could just need to service the machine but if any of you have seen this and know how to fix this, thank you, your advice would be much appreciated.

Hello, I just got my first machine (Pfaff creative vision) but I just dont understand how to position my design where I want it to be on the fabric, I know I can move it on the screen, but how do I know that the design based on where it is on the screen will be where I want it to be on the fabric.

basically how do I compare what's on screen to what's in the hoop ?

Just doing some small simple designs today. Testing out a few things. I wanted the frog to look a little unhinged looking since hes screaming so I added a single stitch border instead of a satin border. I did a set of heart themed designs, I really love the net one, its so cute.

Is it bad that I prefer a trip stitch lettering vs a satin when its smaller?

Accidentally snipped a hole in this hat unsure how to cover it up. (This design is final so I couldn’t add some embroidery to cover it)

I embroidered this beautiful design on a towel but it’s waaaay too small. I have a PE 535 single needle machine so big designs are a little tricky. Should I just buy a new one and try again? Or call it quits? This is for a friends retirement gift. Any tips on how to resize the design?

I posted a similar issue a few days ago! Took some advice got some cut away stabilizer. I’m wondering if this is either the Machine just being mid, or if the stabilizer is just not great.

I have the Poolin EOC06 (If I could go make a different choice haha I sooooo would’ve) I’m using their brand it’s a 2.5oz Cutaway stabilizer. The first photo is with one piece the second is with two.

This issue happens with just about EVERY design and spend about 20-1hr removing run stitches on some designs. The third photo is with tear away but I cleaned it up after the fact. Surprisingly seemed to stay the most on track with that one.

Hi everyone! I currently have a Brother PE800 and have really enjoyed it, but I’m starting to outgrow it.

I’ve recently started getting a lot more embroidery orders (mostly sweatshirts and tank tops), and I’m finding that my biggest time suck is constantly changing thread colors and trimming. I’d love to upgrade to a multi-needle machine to make production faster and easier.

I’m also interested in getting into hats eventually, so I’d love something that can handle apparel now and give me the option to do hats in the future.

I’m looking at used/new machines in roughly the $5k–$6k range and have been researching different machines, but honestly, I'm getting overwhelmed at all of the options and don't know what would be best. I don't want to drop 12k on a new machine because I'm scared I won't get as many orders as i am right now.

Does anyone have recommendations on what machine to get as someone who's just doing this in their spare bedroom for a little bit of fun and extra money outside of their 9-5?
