What MERC is MERC is a token that serves as a component of Liquid Mercury's institutional trading and real-world-asset (RWA) marketplace infrastructure, providing ecosystem access and fee benefits. MERC confers access rights only — no ownership, governance, or profit-sharing rights.

Current and planned features include: - Platform access credits - Fee reductions - Ecosystem and liquidity incentives - Access tiers across the Liquid Mercury RWA marketplace - Staking (planned, future phase — not yet live)

Deployed on Ethereum and Base, with cross-chain infrastructure via Wormhole's NTT framework.

We're opening a prediction ledger. Two calls below, with dates and receipts. Take the other side.

This sub now has a prediction ledger. One rule: a call only counts if it carries a number, a date, and a public source anyone can check when it resolves. "RWA is going to be huge" doesn't qualify. "Tokenized private credit passes treasuries in secondary volume on rwa.xyz by June 2027" would.

We go first. Every call in this thread gets graded when it resolves, wins and misses both. The misses stay up.

Call 1. DTCC's tokenized-collateral platform opens in October. Our call: the first live activity reported on it is repo, not tokenized equity. Resolution source: DTCC's own reporting or trade press coverage of first live volume. Deadline: March 31, 2027. In July we called intraday collateral as the first mover, and it landed within a week: JPMorgan posted tokenized fund shares as margin at CME. Receipt: x.com/MERC_token/status/2077822353329815717

Call 2. Two US tokenized-stock models went live last week. Securitize tokenized its own NYSE shares, so the token is the share. Ondo mints entitlements under UCC Article 8, and the shares stay in custody. We prefer the issuer model, but we're betting against it: by mid-2027, entitlements hold most tokenized equity, measured by rwa.xyz's tokenized-equity split. This is one we'd like to lose.

That's the whole house list. We hold more opinions than this, but most of them don't survive the number-and-date filter yet.

Your turn. Take the other side of either call, or stake one of your own under the same rule. No full call ready? Reply "fade 1" or "fade 2" and we'll log you on the other side of the ledger. "Call 1 is wrong, here's why" works too. One house note: no price calls. Rule 1 of the sub covers that, and "up by December" was never an insight anyway.

We'll keep the ledger in an edit at the bottom of this post: every qualifying call, who made it, and the grade when it resolves.

Answer key: why MERC's Ethereum and Base supplies don't match (numbers pulled today)

Wednesday's pop quiz asked why the Ethereum contract shows 6,000,000,000 MERC while the Base contract shows about 1.087B, and where the difference lives. Nobody claimed the pin, so the answer key is ours to post. We said we'd write it up either way.

Short version: Base MERC is bridge-wrapped. Nothing was minted twice.

The walkthrough, all checkable in a block explorer:

The Ethereum contract (0x6EE2f71049DDE9a93B7c0EE1091b72aCf9b46810) is the canonical supply: 6,000,000,000 MERC, full stop. Every MERC that exists anywhere is one of these.

The Base contract (0x8923947EAfaf4aD68F1f0C9eb5463eC876D79058) shows 1,087,043,628.57 MERC as of today. Those tokens were minted by Wormhole's TokenBridge when someone locked real MERC on Ethereum. The locked tokens sit in the bridge escrow at 0x3ee18B2214AFF97000D974cf647E7C347E8fa585.

If you add 6B + 1.087B off two explorer tabs you get a number that has never existed. Aggregator sites do this constantly with wrapped assets, which is one reason multichain "market cap" figures deserve suspicion.

Now the part worth arguing about. Lock-and-mint wrapping means every Base MERC is an IOU on an escrow contract we didn't write. The alternative, burn-and-mint native issuance (what Circle does with USDC via CCTP), keeps one canonical supply and no escrow, but hands mint authority to whoever runs the messaging layer. Our bet: escrow wrapping ages worse, because every additional chain adds one more balance that only reconciles if someone does the subtraction above by hand, and almost nobody does. If you think the escrow model is actually the conservative choice, make that case in the comments and bring the failure mode that scares you about mint authority. First argument that changes how we'd describe the tradeoff gets pinned for the week.

Pop quiz: MERC's Ethereum and Base contracts show different total supplies. Why don't they match, and where does the difference live?

The numbers as of this morning: the Ethereum contract (0x6EE2f71049DDE9a93B7c0EE1091b72aCf9b46810) shows 6,000,000,000 MERC total supply. The Base contract (0x8923947EAfaf4aD68F1f0C9eb5463eC876D79058) shows about 1,084,118,140. Both are public on eth.blockscout.com and base.blockscout.com.

The question: why don't the two numbers match, and where exactly does the difference live? Everything you need to answer is visible on-chain.

First correct answer gets this thread pinned for a week. We'll post our own write-up with links either way.

4,019 wallets hold MERC. 28 accounts are in this sub. I've stopped thinking that's a failure.

Standing question for the room: name one token outside the top 100 whose subreddit has real, unprompted conversation in 2026. We'll go read it and report back on what they do differently.

Why we're asking. 2,743 wallets hold MERC on Ethereum and 1,276 on Base (blockscout, contract addresses below). This sub has 28 members. That ratio looks damning until you check any other token sub this size — holders use the thing, they don't hang out. MERC is an access token; the marketplace is the point, and the 2021 idea that every token ships with a fandom attached died with that market.

So this sub runs on one job: claims get checked here. Someone says lifetime transfers on Base just passed Ethereum — pull the explorer, confirm it or call it wrong. 28 people who verify beats 5,000 farming an airdrop that doesn't exist.

Hot take from the mod desk: most tokenized real estate is narrative. Change our mind.

Tokenization pitch decks love real estate. But fractional property tokens mostly recreate a REIT with worse liquidity and murkier rights — the hard parts (title, tenants, local law) stay off-chain no matter what the token does.

Where we think it actually works: assets that already settle badly. Private credit, commodity warehouse receipts, funds with 90-day redemption windows. Slow, paper-heavy settlement is the disease; on-chain transfer is a real cure there.

And yes — we build RWA marketplace tech, so we have skin in this. That's exactly why we'd rather be honest about which half of the sector is real.

Which asset makes YOUR 'actually better on-chain' list — and which one is pure deck-ware? Argue with us.

The tokenized asset market is moving faster than most people realize

Tokenized treasuries crossed $5B earlier this year. Tokenized private credit is growing. Real estate, commodities, and equity-like instruments are all in motion.

The infrastructure to support this at an institutional level — custody, settlement, compliance — is what actually determines which projects survive the transition.

What tokenized asset class are you most interested in? Drop it below.

Liquid Mercury x BitGo — big infrastructure move for the platform

Good news out of the Liquid Mercury camp this week.

LM has selected BitGo as its Crypto-as-a-Service provider across the entire stack: Mercury Pro, Mercury OTC, and Mercury RWA. That means qualified custody, OCC-regulated trust infrastructure, multi-sig cold storage, and up to $250M in insurance coverage now sitting behind every product.

FinanceFeeds covered it well: https://financefeeds.com/liquid-mercury-and-bitgo-push-crypto-trading-closer-to-prime-brokerage-infrastructure/

The RWA angle is worth noting. BitGo's infrastructure will also support tokenized asset issuance and management through Mercury RWA, which puts the platform in a solid position as that market keeps growing.

Solid step forward. Excited to release more information about the much anticipated go live dates for TokenBloq, Stratofied, CVP, and Annex. Stay tuned!

👋 Welcome to r/MERCtoken: The Official Community Hub for the MERC Token & Liquid Mercury Ecosystem

Whether you're an RWA builder, an institutional trader, a Base-chain explorer, or simply curious about asset tokenization: welcome. This is the official subreddit for MERC, the utility token behind Liquid Mercury's institutional trading and RWA marketplace infrastructure.

What MERC is

MERC is the utility token for the Liquid Mercury ecosystem, used for platform access, fee reductions, staking for tiered features (planned Q4 2026), and participation across the Mercury RWA marketplace. Fixed supply of 6 billion. Deployed on Ethereum and Base, with cross-chain infrastructure via Wormhole's NTT framework.

The only official contracts:

  • Ethereum: 0x6EE2f71049DDE9a93B7c0EE1091b72aCf9b46810
  • Base: 0x8923947EAfaf4aD68F1f0C9eb5463eC876D79058

Any other address claiming to be MERC is fake. Everything about this token is publicly verifiable — supply, holders, transfers — on any block explorer. If you can't verify a claim on-chain or in the MiCA white paper, treat it as unofficial.

Why subscribe

This sub runs on real data, not hype:

  • On-chain receipts (Wednesdays) — holders, liquidity, and volume pulled live at post time, with week-over-week changes you can check yourself
  • Holder milestone posts — only when an actual milestone happens
  • Weekly discussion (Mondays) and verification threads (Fridays)
  • The team reads everything here

About Liquid Mercury

Liquid Mercury builds institutional trading infrastructure used by hedge funds, OTC desks, exchanges, and RWA market participants. CEO Tony Saliba (of Market Wizards) writes about bridging traditional finance with on-chain markets in The Saliba Signal.

Official resources

House rules, short version

No price predictions or pump talk. No scams, impersonations, or unofficial contracts. Critique ideas, not people. Full rules in the sidebar.

Safety
