Nonviolent protest against SB 4 on july 20.

Post image

On the sidewalk right next to Lion's Park, right here in Lockhart Texas, I am asking you and our neighbors to join a nonviolent protest against SB 4,

Which is the state law that states that our local and state law enforcement are legally required to help ICE: https:// Irl.texas.gov/legis/billsearch/BillDetails.cfm?
legSession=88-4&billtypeDetail=SB&billNumberDetail=4
&bil|SuffixDetail=

We're hosting this protest, because our tax payer dollars shouldn't be going towards helping a federal agency, that has been operating with absolutely zero accountability,

And that has straight up murdered innocent people in cold blood.

It is our duty, to help put an end to the assistance of these injustices at the state and local level, so as many of us as possible have got to attend,

So I hope to see you all next Monday!

8 kittens and one mama cat that we have fostered are ready to find their forever homes through the Lockhart Animal Shelter.
This Nextdoor post has more information about each of them and their stories. If one of these kittens isn’t the right fit for you, the shelter has so many other wonderful cats and kittens waiting for loving homes.
If you have any questions about any of the cats in the post, please feel free to reach out. And if you can’t adopt, sharing the post helps more than you know. Every adoption makes room for another cat or kitten in need!

Where are people gathering to watch? My brother is coming into town and it’s much more fun to watch games with other soccer fans.

I want to know:
Where are you watching?
What are you eating?
What are you drinking?
Any pregame ritual worth mentioning?

Lay them out here!

Opinions on 287g in Caldwell County

Hi all! I am a freelance reporter for the Caldwell Hays Examiner, and I’m working on a story regarding Caldwell County’s decision to choose the Task Force Model in relation to the 287g agreement, which enables local police to partake in Immigrations and Customs Enforcement operations and investigations in their day to day, in events such as traffic stops. I wanted to post out here and see if anyone had any thoughts or opinions they’d be willing to share with me about this, or any family or neighbors/community members they know that may be or have been affected by ICE operations in the area. Feel free to DM me or comment, hope to hear from y’all!

Question for long time residents

The movie "Where the Heart Is" starring Natalie Portman was filmed around 1999, partially in Lockhart. There's a scene where she recovers her kidnapped baby in front of a church. Filming location was said to be Main St and West Pecan. There's a partially empty lot there, a block down is a large catholic church but the facade is different than the movie.

Does anyone know if there used to be another church which has since been demolished on main and pecan?

Animal shelter

It’s full. I don’t know much about the dogs there but cats aren’t moving much. I dropped off some cats 3 weeks ago and they are all still there. They cannot take anymore cats in.

If you’re looking for a pet or even thinking about it, drop by the animal shelter 11-6 Tuesday-Friday or Saturday noon-4.

They could use volunteers. Bring your kids who are out on summer break by the shelter and they can hang with the cats in their new Catio (cat patio). It helps socialize the cats for their future homes and the kids always have a good time. Post some photos on your social media to help bring more people in. Anything helps!

The best way to get a hold of them is to stop by. Everyone is very kind and the animals are all so sweet.

Wedding at Caldwell Courthouse!šŸ’šŸ’’

Does anybody have any recommendations for local photographers that would be able to shoot a ceremony at the Caldwell courthouse? We’re wanting to have photos taken of the ceremony and then some photos taken after, in the surrounding grounds of the courthouse. Also any recommendations for some nice fancy restaurants in the evening!

Much appreciated šŸ’—

dead dog found on the side of 183 heading northeast

me and friend were driving and spotted a dog that clearly got hit by a car fairly recently and just moved to the side of the road. we wanted to pull over to try and see if he had a tag on him….. writing this to hopefully be seen by the owner in case their looking for their pet. it was a medium size light brown chunky male putbull, orange collar, in tact. we tried to call 311 and tried animal control to see if someone could pick it up so they could read the chip and contact the owners but they said they don’t do stuff like that lol??????
hopefully reddit can do its thing and maybe find the owners.

Considering moving family to Lockhart

My wife (28F) and I (32M) are preparing to buy our first home with our 18-month-old and newborn, and we’ve been seriously looking into Lockhart. I work remotely, but occasionally have to travel into downtown Austin for my job in government relations, so I’m curious what that commute is realistically like for people who do it on occasion.

We’ve driven through Lockhart a few times and really liked the vibe, but I’d love some honest insight from locals or people who’ve made the move there recently.

How’s the crime and overall safety, especially for young families? When I have to travel, is this the kind of town where I can feel comfortable with my wife and kids being home? How are the schools/community feel? Are there good internet providers for remote work?

Also wondering socially — we’re younger parents and coming from a more suburban environment. Is it easy to make friends there? Would we fit in as younger newcomers, or does it feel harder to break into the community?

Ultimately we’re looking for a place where we can establish roots, raise our kids somewhere safe and enjoyable, and still be able to enjoy Austin and the surrounding towns/cities without feeling isolated. We’re also churchgoers.

Would you recommend Lockhart for this stage of life? Any insight — good or bad — would really help.

Mom moving and we are considering Lockhart

What is Lockhart like for the 55+ community? Is it safe? Easy to get around in? Anything we should consider?

She lives in Austin and I know she wants to be close to my sister, but she has most of her family (siblings, nephews, great nieces and nephews) living in Lockhart and I think it would be good for her. My sister can visit her anytime no matter where she lives. Also, she is on a fixed income and Austin is so expensive, so we are looking for alternatives.

Just want some information about the area. What do you like about it? What should we keep in mind? Thank you!

Creep/Murderer? on TX 130 Toll - Be Careful

Guy ran up at me from the ditch while using natural bathroom in the middle of nowhere on 130 and an exit near Black Ankle Road at 10pm. Noticed him out of the corner of my eye horror movie stuff.

Pulled my gun and yelled at him to fuck off and get on the ground and called 911. He got down and the police asked me to shine my light and get a description. Wearing all black with black hair I think. Police are looking for him or already got him. The guy was coming straight for me. Be careful and protect yourself. Writing this a couple exits down while cooling off.

Edit: I know it sounds unbelievable because it is, you don’t have to believe me but this happened.
