Food & Drink LPT: Replace your hotdog buns with a sandwich!
This may be my single greatest contribution to humanity!
I was making myself a brat the other night when I realized my hotdog/brat buns had gotten moldy. I figured I would just use some white bread slices instead. Not great, but it works. Then I realized if I use 2 slices the amount of bread thickness would be closer. And I would be able to make a sandwich out of the toppings, then wrap that around my brat. So basically for me it was a mustard and relish sandwich, placed a brat on top and curved it around the brat.
It spreads the toppings/condiments around so you get a bit each bite. And it prevents wet things like relish from soaking through the thin connection of bread on a normal bun.
As a bonus, no more trying to match up packages with different amounts in them. Just get a loaf and use the leftover for sandwiches later. Also, way cheaper.

Since you all seem to love this invention, I have another for marshmallow lovers. Next time you have smores, replace the graham crackers with rice crispy treats!!!! Diabetes for sure, but damn son....

That sounds delish, but if I had a beard and a food truck, I'd put pickled onions on it instead of sauerkraut.

On regular bread. It's called a poverty dog. You accidentally invented poverty dogs. It's also something parents do for small kids who don't know any better. I'm amazed you have never heard of anyone using bread in a pinch like this. You didn't come up with some magical trick, you're just oblivious.

I mean, if you want to class it up you could get some nicer bread from a local bakery. But the principle still stands. I generally don't decide on if food is good or not based solely on if poor people do it.

Sorry but I think anyone who ran out of Hotdog buns has already done this.
Also try adding those crunchy onions that are normally put on string bean casserole on your hot dog

And denmark, which is where I had it. Best hot dog ever. I think 15+ years ago i tried to make one, but it wasnt the same. Maybe it was the type of relish or my attempt af remulade(sp).
At least my crispy pork christmas dish came out well.

I had my best hot dog at an Icelandic gas station, so I get it lol. Meat tastes different in Europe, and the remoulade also makes everything better!

I am sure everyone has just used a piece of bread before. But the making a sandwich thing is a game changer. It is so much less messy too.

Nope we've all done that too. I did it when I was a kid in the 80s, many of us did, especially if you wanted more than 1 hotdog.

I believe that is the standard single slice of bread. It is less bread and way messier. The sandwich keeps it all contained and adds thickness to the bread, like a real bun.

I’m trying to figure out if you really never did this before or if your next post will be on using fast food napkins as tissues in the car. :)
That being said, your description on how the bread wraps around the sausage is excellent.

You are overlooking the utility of making it a sandwich instead of a single slice. Self contained mess with evenly distributed toppings. It is amazing sir. You just are jealous of my enormous intellect.

honestly yeah, I might try this. my go to is a johnsonville cheese dog, so.....might have to use a grilled cheese sandwich.

I wasn't allowed to have 2 slices or pick the bread type when I was a kid. Just use buns. This is kind of like r/wewantplates but with buns.
