Hi! I got a job offer with relocation to Tripoli, Libya. Is it worth it? Is it safe? What is the life like?

So apparently, power outlets in Libya can be 127v or 230v depending on where you are. If you live in Libya, can you confirm if this is true? I am not travelling to Libya, I'm just curious to know.

الساعة الثانية ظهرا، الحرارة تقترب من الأربعين والرطوبة عالية جدا و بعد اجتماع ممل في وسط البلاد  ومشوار المشي  لمكان السيارة  مع جو الصهد اللي برا  وفجأة هديكا القهوة الصغيره تتمنى تلقى فيها اميه مصقعه ومايمنعش اسبريسو قصيره وتقعد دقائق قدام المكيف الصغير اللي يادوب يبرد

وهني تبدا عملية الاغتيال لما تلقى شخصين واقفين جنبك  وكل واحد غارق في عطر عود ثقيل جدا جدا هداكا نوع العطر اللي يبي درجات حرارة تحت الصفر

الذوق العام جزء من الثقافة  الصيف له عطوره والشتاء ليه عطوره خصوصا الصيف ومش مهم السعر او الشركة المصنعة  نقاء طبيعي أو صناعي اهم شي انه يكون فرش منعش  حمضي، فاكهي، مائي، أو أي نوتات وريحه تعطيك إحساس النظافة , بدل الاختناق الكيميائي اللي صاير , مفروض محلات العطور تمنع بيع العطور الشتوية القاتلة في الصيف

للعلم فيه عطور شتوية جميله تنحط في الصيف ليلا او مكان فيه مكيف قوي لمناسبة خاصة لكن مش عود في عز القايله

I've been in and out of Tripoli fairly regularly over the past few months and whenever I'm there, not a day goes by without fireworks being let off at absolutely any time of the day.

First times I noticed it was usually at night time and usually being let off from convoys of cars driving along the seafront so assumed it was maybe a Wedding or some other celebration.

Now a lot of the time when I hear them, I look out the window but don't see any sign of a convoy or obvious gathering of some other sort - even in the middle of the day, which I'd have thought kind of defeats the point of fireworks?

Not complaining, not mad, genuinely just curious what it's all about 🤷🏻‍♂️

I grew up abroad but moved back after high school. I took a gap year and now i’m looking to study at university. Is the University in Tripoli actually good? I’m really on the fence and would prefer to study in the UK but it’s £27k :(

What would you do?

Salam everyone, I’m 16 years old and Libyan, but I have been living in Canada my whole life. I haven’t been to Libya since I was about 4 years old (which I obviously don’t remember much) and I’m planning on visiting this summer. I can understand some simple phrases, but I really want to improve my speaking and understanding before I go.

I’ve tried learning with a teacher before but I realized pretty early on that this type of learning really doesn’t work for me. I learn much better through immersion like listening to people talk or watching content, and naturally picking up the language. My sister had even suggested watching SpongeBob in Arabic but I could only find Masri versions.

For anyone who has been in a similar situation (living outside Libya and trying to reconnect with the language) please let me know what helped you the most. Any advice or resources will be appreciated. Thanks 🙏

I am a Libyan girl living in Canada, my spoken Arabic is pretty weak and my reading and writing are almost nonexistent. I was already teased whenever I visited back home because of my Arabic. I’m also very disconnected from Libyan customs and cultural norms. I recently dyed a front piece of my hair an unnatural red colour, and my mom told me I’ll be made fun of when we visit Libya again. Is that true? And I also want some advice on how to better connect to Libyan culture and customs. I’m a socially awkward person by nature and struggle with it even here in Canada. Any advice would be greatly appreciated♡

هي دوامة يقع فيها المجتمع المستهلِك عديم الإنتاج اركانها البحث عن المشاكل و إلقاء اللوم بعشوائية أو منطقية دون التفكير او الخوض او النِّقاش في سُبُل الحل الحقيقية ودراسة جدوتها.

مالغرض او الهدف من الحديث عن هذه الدوامة ؟ هي محاولة دنيئة للإشارة لأحد المشاكل في المجتمع والحل الحقيقي لها هو البحث عن الحل بحقيقة والمشكلة هنا ان الحقيقة نسبية و لكن لمن يريد الحقيقة المطلقة في البحث عن الحل، يجب ان ينبثق البحث من مبدأين أساسيين والأول هو أن تضع نفسك في مكان المسؤول ثم مكان المسؤول عنهم وهذا المبدأ مأخوذ من قول النبي ﷺ: «لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى يحب لأخيه ما يحب لنفسه».

الثاني النية الصادقة للوصول إلى حل جذري، فهي منبع القرار السليم، وهذا أيضًا مأخوذ من قول النبي ﷺ: «إنما الأعمال بالنيات». و لو نبوا فلاسفة اجانب بش يوافقوا الكلام متوفرين و شكرا عفوا
