Finally finished my Drachenfest (De) costume
It's not a vampire, but a living foot soldier. All hand stitched.

Locations: You don't need to include your house address but closest major city and how far you are willing to travel.
Budget: "As cheaply as possible" is not a budget and is honestly the best way to waste money. Figure out an amount you are willing to spend.
Setting: LARP is a vast and expansive hobby. Not every game is about running around out in the woods pretending to be a rouge/knight/wizard. Let us know what you play or want to play.

Hello denizens of /r/LARP.
We as a subreddit have a small announcement as far as the future of this sub is concerned.
Last week we took part in the 2 day protest that was more or less site wide spanning thousands of subs as a way to show solidarity with app creators and to show the frustration with the administration of reddit and their poor handling and plans of upcoming updates.
However, It would appear that Reddit plans to continue their efforts to stifle 3rd party creators and strong arm moderators who take any stance opposing the admins of Reddit. This creates a serious cloud of uncertainty within reddit as to the future of many subs and how the platform will be handled in the future. Because of this we have decided to create a Discord server which will be open to all of /r/larp to join. It is not our plan to abandon this sub or replace this sub with the discord server, instead, it will act as an extension of this sub itself.
While there are multiple reasons for this decision, one of the largest is that if the future of reddit creates an non fostering environment for us, we wish to have another platform that is free of Reddit's control in order to continue providing resources and networking for all of us who enjoy LARPing and LARP adjacent hobbies.
The discord has the same rules we enforce over here, with a couple modifications to make it more applicable to discords format. There is places for general conversation, places to show off your work, a place to post about and to look for games in your area, as well as Voice chat rooms for people looking to play video games together or just hangout and find comradery.
Please feel free to check it out, and ask any questions you may have. This is still in its infancy, and if we find it doesnt fit what the community wants, we will search for alternatives.
This link should never expire for people trying to join the server, however if you have an issue please message an admin for a new link.

There were some amazing costumes at As Night Falls: The Auction, a vampire LARP in Elvaston Castle, near Derby.
The core premise is that players are vampires in the modern day and witnessing everyone's different interpretations is amazing.
Me and my wife are hoping to go to our first LARP later this year and she's planning on being a mage of some sort (I don't know half of what she's talking about haha)
But she's struggling to find a good website to get a Rod/wand from. Could anybody please recommend somewhere? We're in the UK if that helps! Thank you in advance!

A nice mix between the classic buckler and tribal masks. I got a commission for a small shield with some mask detailing and I’m pretty exited about how it turned out. It will surely shine on the Netherlands’ largest event this summer.

Hi everyone! Super specific yet pretty trick request here. I think it’s fair to say we all know Mytholon, they’re like the baseplate of most medieval fantasy larp kits. Can’t love them enough for their quality and prices. Not a sponsor though, this is a help wanted poster! The Leon line of equipment is a series of leather belts, pouches, and scabbards, and is a little on the pricier side compared to other lines. Specifically, I’m looking for their now discontinued Leon Leather Shoulder Bag, specifically in brown. If anybody has one and is willing to sell it (so long as they provide photo proof), I’d be more than happy to buy one! The worst part is I’ve owned one before but sold it to someone on Facebook Marketplace! But yeah, I’d love to get my hands on one of these again :)

im on the last photo.
It's been 20 years since I last did any serious sword fighting, and I realized how much I still love it. I'm incredibly happy I got to take part in a live-action role-playing event again.
I was a leader of nomadic people from the world of The Lord of the Rings—but the game itself was a complete fantasy immersion. There were orcs, trolls, a stone troll, elves, dwarves, and, of course, humans. 🏹🛡️

Hey, I am traveling for the first time to an event via air. I was wondering about stuff. I am carrying 3 belts one leather and 2 paracord with large metal rings and a semi metal mask and my wire crown.
Being i have never flown before i wanted to see if people have experience. I am not checking my bags and have a 10h lay over each way.
Any tips are helpful.
Edit: traveling from Ohio USA to Alaska usa

So I have a beautiful set of stainless armor coming in from armstreet.
Im looking for what to where under it and where to buy that which I should.
I have: padded linen top and bottom.
Im not looking to do cobbat i'm more of a mobile skit proformer.
It gets super hot here, but im a skinny guy so im a tad concerned about the balance of wearing it for 5-10 hours in 90 degrees and my shoulder or hips rubbing off. I'd love to not wear the linen furniture blankets haha.
What to wear under the pads or in place of? Where to buy?
US based faire performer
Thank you guys, I saw this question get asked other places. but I might be dense because im still confused.

Have felt for a while now something is slightly off; maybe with the lower half? Empire system, Dawnish nation. Regal/martial Earl is what I’m going for. There’s a lot of bulk to account for the system’s armour rules. Appreciate any input!
Edit: Seems helmet and greaves are the common answers! All my current gear is steel, so I’m keen to keep from adding additional weight if anyone has lightweight leg/hat advice 🙂

I recently got a golf bag so I could carry all my weapons (trying for one for every elemental damage type in the game) and I'm unsure of how to make it more fantastical and less walking advertisement.
I'm currently thinking about a fur ruff around the top and encase the rest in a leather sheath, but it's tricky because the bag has these fold-out legs that can keep it propped up at an angle, which I'd like to keep access to.

Photos from Pilgrim's War at Ye Olde Commons in MA (a religious horror game set in 1252).
Photo 1: Lady Tiffany Ballard (my PC). Married into nobility. Her husband (Sir Tristan) perished in the Holy War against the undead. My bestie, Matt, played my Knight (Chevalier/Messire Guy du Bellay). Tristan and Guy had a made a pact that if the other perished they would take care of their widow.
Photo 2: Penitent (angry mob person) NPC.
Photo 3 (CW: blood/gorey makeup): Undead/Soulless NPC (makeup done by the super talented Bendy Mitchell).
*All players had to take at least one adversary shift.

Happy to say my work over the last few months (since work and health keep me from doing things like this full time) finally resembles a tent.
Now it's time to finalise everything and pack it up!

Looking for some sort of rapiers that would be good and safe for sparring in a pool and what kind of material would be best for that

Hey all! I'm in London and having trouble finding LARP events for a complete beginner.
I wanted to avoid high fantasy types like Empire because the costumes seem to be a lot to invest in for a taster of the hobby. (Especially for someone my size, regular clothes are a nightmare)
I'd prefer something I can more easily try without *too* much investment, preferably something I could even wear my civvies to like Vampire (though the Vamp scene seems kinda dead here? Maybe the sites I browsed were just crap though)
Any help is appreciated!

I want to find some fur form room/outfits, any good ethical places to find vintage fur or faux fur?

So I have extensive, but stale LARP experience from another part of the world, including both playing and crewing (and some assistant GMing including one game I wrote the contept of, but that was in 2000). I don't have nearly enough in terms of costume. And I'm not great at fencing (though did just complete a basic HEMA course).
I would like to get back into it and to "see how it is done here", but don't want to invest a lot without a clear direction - which probaby means I'm best off as crew. However, not all games even want crew.
I am in Ireland which does not have large scale LARPs but can reasonably travel, which means I'm looking at Europe and especially at the UK.
How d I look for crewing opportunities specifically? Any game recommendations would also be much appreciated.

Hi guys, I've had my eye on this armour set for a while because of the look & of course, the price. But I haven't seen any reviews for this specific set nor any non-advertisement pictures of people wearing it. I want it to look... bulky? Intimidating? I can't buy men's pauldrons because those will 100% be TOO BIG, but I still want a pretty manly figure if that makes sense lol.
I have never bought anything from Mytholon before and would love to know a bit about their quality, and how true to picture these pauldrons actually are. Has anyone ever bought plate armour from Mytholon? I'd love to know what you think of it!
If y'all have other suggestions for trust-able brands to buy armour from, please lmk :]
