Just bought this knife and wondered what the black coating is on the blade, does anyone have any idea?

Damasteel Aegir pattern, black G10 with G10 spacers and spalted maple burl. The paring knife is 1/16 Nitro-V with the handle materials reverse using the off it’s from the other handle.

This is homemade felt micarta, and it's my first attempt at texturing micarta. Some areas look good, but some look "crumbly" for lack of a better term. It isn't falling apart at all, but it still looks kinda rough. How do I clean up this thing? Thanks!

First time attempting to sell a knife and looking for recommendations on how to realistically price. Specs are 1084 with micarta and g10 handle hardware. Etched and stonewashed. Looking to avoid lowballing myself but also keep my price realistic. Thanks!

Here Are three brothers that i made today. I tried a new way to grind today.

This is the first of complex Mosaic pattern I have made. The result isn’t bad. I am very happy with it.

It’s a little paring knife.
Mosaic steel with 416 guard and hardwood burl (stabilized).

This is a full tang hunter out of previously produced batch made from Elmax steel.

Specs:

• Overall length: 10"
• Steel: Elmax
• Handle: stabilized spalted apricot wood
• Hand-stitched leather sheath

I wanted to keep the lines simple and let the spalting in the apricot handle stand out. The blade has a clean satin finish and a comfortable handle profile for extended use.

I still refine my fit and finish with every knife, so I'd really appreciate any feedback or criticism. What would you improve?

I'm finally posting something other than a question on this sub, my very first folder !

It took a good month of work from design to finish, a lot has been learned in the process and I'm quiet happy with the result !

I started knife making about 4 months ago and made 4-5 fixed blades before this project but I'm really more into folding knives and I'm glad I made a knife I'll actually EDC !

1075 carbon steel & copper handle, hopefully both develop a nice patina.

it's heavy, no pocket clip, copper leaves smell on the hand and the action isn't perfectly smooth but man I love it !

Gonna keep practicing and maybe work on a locking mechanism for the next one.

This version is slightly scaled up with an agressive Jimped Spine and a longer 4 ⅛ overall length. 

4 ⅛" OA with a 1.25" Cutting Edge 

Apoc-Grafiti Acid Etch / Bronze Mullet Finish

80CrV2 blade with a stonewashed finish. Katalox wood handle with brass pins and a brown leather sheath.

Haven’t done a Katalox handle in a while and I forgot how hard this stuff is, grinds and sands slowly but does end up with a nice finish.

Blade is made from a 15n20 industrial bandsaw blade, handle is homemade burgundy and black felt micarta. This one was too big for me to heat treat, so I sent it out to a friend whom I will tag in the comments. He handled everything from making sure it was perfectly straight, to dialing in the exact HRC I needed for this beast. Thanks dude! 10/10, definitely recommend his services.

Never made a sheath like this but I’m super happy with it. Buckeye handles & raindrop damascus.

BHK : " Toxic " MKII 3" Pocket Tanto in AEB-L / fatcarbon.

This is kinda of a trial on an "Light MKII" with extra weight reduction, Carbon Scales, thinner .06" Kydex & a UltiClip Slim, i'll have to weigh it against my personal 3" MKII Tanto to see what the difference is.

1. How do you set the bevel width? (Height?) Like how do you gauge the height of eye/angle relative to how far up the blade towards the spine you want the bevel to go?

2. How would you clamp small/irregular knives? Like a marking knife example, basically just keep the edge perpendicular to the file?

3. How do you prevent semicircular bevels if you just want a straight edge like on a marking knife? Does it even matter if the file is basically the width of the whole edge?

4. Would a ball end joint like in second image be a good idea for this sort of jig? I feel like it would limit any travel/slop in the arm.
