I got a job over there and I don't have a car, so I've been looking for a place nearby, but I'm not finding a whole lot of anything.
I'm trying to find a studio or a 1 bedroom with a kitchen for under 1k.

Went for a look to see if there was an update posted on their business like the Hawaiian place and Hobby Lobby. There was one of the owners in there. On talking with her she was very nice and said they are shooting for an end of the month opening. It will be nice to have all three of those businesses open. They’ve been empty for so long. It isn’t a good look to have empty buildings in the town. Now maybe we can get some businesses over where Big Lots used to be. It would be great to get that filled in.

I'm moving to Kingman from Vegas and looking at spec homes and see that Angle Homes are the largest builder in the area. I was curious of any one here's opinion on experiences and having bought from them. Thanks guys. I've visited Kingman numerous times and enjoy the area and smaller town feel.

Due to aging family members we are considering Kingman or Valle Vista. I've read that Valle Vista is a quiet community and did drive through there on a Saturday evening a couple of months ago, it did seem quiet to me. In my current neighborhood in SoCal we have fireworks (M80's and larger, dry ice bombs, etc.) being set off every weekend and even some random week nights. The dog is a basket case. A home in Kingman or Valle Vista may be a 2nd home for a while and I'm not wanting to land in a noisy area like where I'm at in SoCal. Just looking for some opinions from people that currently live there or lived there recently. Thanks.

Why is it actually impossible to get a job out here atm? I’ve applied in person and online to every entry level job out here, I’ve applied to American plastics and other warehouses by the airport but nowhere gets back to me not even fast food, I would just apply to somewhere in Bullhead but I live by Blake ranch and that would be more than an hour away which I can’t afford. This just really sucks :(

not even trying to insult the place, but what is there to do here? besides going to first fridays once a month and the overpriced fair in september. and they only have a 4 room theater. there is not much of anything. yes maybe the pool every weekend or so but it doesnt even stay open very long. maybe im just being pessimistic but i mean cmon we need more things to do here without having to go to havasu or somewhere more than an hour away.

***Last post for 30 days*** Just for today 03JUL26 "Quiet time" 404 days clean and sober NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I'm about to have 30 days of "quiet time". This will give me time to work on my conscious contact with my Higher Power. I did the crime, now I gotta do the time. Back when I was using it was all about "catch me if you can". Now that I'm moving forward in life, I can see this as just an obstacle. I will continue to move forward with my plans and goals. This is just gonna give me some time to work on my much needed quiet time. Careful what you pray for, you just might get it...

Just for today 02JUL26 "Comparing" 404 days clean and sober today NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I know I haven't lived the same life as you. My individuality is what makes me who I am. My recovery won't look the same as anyone else's. i'm learning how to do my recovery as I go. I talk to my Higher Power frequently. I refuse to allow negative thoughts and feelings to stay with me. I'm not looking forward to going to jail tomorrow, but I will put this in God's hands and I have faith everything will be ok. No matter what path we're taking, or what we've been through, we are all looking for a better way of living. One that doesn't require us to chase that bag or bottle.

Just for today 01JUL26 "A simple program" 403 days clean and sober NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
A simple program that ain't always all that simple. How can it be, I gotta deal with me? And I'm always there. I'm still working on keeping it simple. I can't help overthinking, isolating, and just not giving a shit. I''m trying to do as much as I can for as many people as I can. I know service is important. This ain't easy, people annoy me. This 30 day vacation will give me some time to work on my mindfulness techniques.

Just for today 30JUN26 "Maintaining the foundation" 402 days clean NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I've been telling my son the importance of having a strong foundation. I forgot the importance of maintaining that foundation. I've found myself going to meetings less. I haven't done much in the way of service. I need to spend more time in mindfulness techniques. My journal is right there, yet I haven't written in it in a while. It's time to do some maintenance on my recovery foundation.

Just for today 29JUN26 "Keeping recovery fresh" 401 days clean NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I've caught my recovery getting stagnant. I started volunteering my time wherever I could. I joined a veteran group and a leadership group. One thing I've learned in recovery is that I can't allow myself too much time in my own head. I think I have been doing pretty good keeping my schedule full. I still haven't figured out ways to release those brain chemicals that shake things up "legally and safely". For now I will search for joy in all things. I'm told it's possible.

Just for today 28JUN26 "Group conscience" 400 days clean and sober NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I haven't participated in any group decision making yet. I am still trying to dial in on doing service work. Hell, I'm still trying to make it to meetings regularly without letting me get in my way. This person made me feel this way or I made that person feel that way. Getting away from self and becoming a part of the group takes time and practice. I am still a work in progress.

Just for today 27JUN26 "Change and growth" 399 days clean and sober NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
Change is scary. Not knowing what to expect, how to do it, where to go, or why it's worth it, leaves us in fear. I didn't want to lose my stuff, even though most of it was broken. I didn't want to move, even though the property I was on had been sold. I ran from change, literally. I hid in a bush... The police found me and the changes began. I didn't realize how much support was out there. All I had to do was open my eyes and look. I found that honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness to change fosters growth. Add a community of others, with something in common, and that creates hope.

I'm working on getting a degree in business and cooking
I have tons of retail and food experience and the process is slow but I'll be learning more about behind the scenes business, inventory, shipping, stocking cooking recipes.
Genuinely curious before the pandemic was Kingman a super busy place at night would you come to a diner that stays open 24/7 night and day?
I want this to be a place where people get off late from work and have a place to sit down when they don't feel like going home.
Many times during my childhood me and my family went to Walmart at 3am and it was always nice to walk around and eat at the food court.
Not many places except gas stations are 24/7 but those don't feel welcoming

Just for today 26JUN26 "Surrendering self-will" 398 days clean & sober NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
Surrendering self-will was the best lesson I have ever learned. Not only am I relieved of stress and worry, but I can trust in my Higher Power to put me where I need to be. The less I try to run the show, the less I fuck it up. I'm still working on it. The more I let go, the better life becomes. I'm done trying to control shit, it doesn't work.

Just for today 25JUN26 "Not just lucky" 397 days clean and sober today NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I have seen many "miracles" throughout my life. My Higher Power and the strength He has given me to stay sober, has given me more clarity to see His work in my life. I could go on for hours speaking of the countless close-calls that I shouldn't have lived through. I used to think I just got lucky. That's not true. God was there, even when I was too drunk or high (or both) to be present myself because I asked Him to be there.
