A bit of background: I started trying to figure out my Kibbe type around 2022. In the very first quiz I ever took, I got Dramatic Classic.

Then I started looking into the system more deeply. I’m 5’2”, and at the time, most people noticed my short height and lack of obvious Romantic curves and immediately suggested Flamboyant Gamine. For the next year, I thought I was either FG or SG, although I kept feeling that something wasn’t quite working.

Then the new book came out! 🔥

After completing all the quizzes and exercises in the book, I still hadn’t fully figured out my type. The first thing that helped me was realizing that I have Vertical. Why? When I looked at my photo, I noticed that my eyes travelled straight from top to bottom rather than moving in a curved direction. Okay, some progress!

The next step was figuring out my accommodations. I took the type of photo recommended in the book and traced my outline, imagining a slightly weighted piece of chiffon falling straight down from my shoulders.

What helped me most was realizing that the stripes on each type’s outline show where the line begins to behave differently. And then it clicked! I quickly realized that I’m actually a Dramatic Classic, just as I had thought at the very beginning.

I think Nelly is a great example of how we can adapt our styles to accommodate our weight gains. She looked amazing back then and now she's incredible!

She gained more weight now and she was pretty underweight when people typed her before so maybe it's so no longer the same ?

My natural waist is super high, I always feel like bottoms are too low even when high waisted... I need shorts to hike but I seldom like how they look on me. How are those? I work with SN (I'm 5'4/163cm).

I'm self typed as FG, maybe SG, but definitely gamine. I wear exclusively high waisted pants as I need to emphasise my waistline. But I've also noticed that tops and t-shirts look better on me when they're not just flat fabric covering the whole chest. E.g., with horizontal text above the bust, suspenders, or an interesting neckline. In this photo I posed to make the top look better, but the shape is really not that flattering.

I really don't suit tops that have a standard scoop neckline. It feels like it makes me look wide in that area even though my waist and upper torso are small compared to the rest of my body.

Is this just because I need to tailor to the upper torso?

This is just for fun! What type would you say this hidden mystery celeb is? I know the photos are not the best for typing, but I tried to choose the more incospicuous ones. If you've recognized who it is, please don't give it away, I will update the post later to reveal them :)

Thanks to everyone who played even though it's not easy to type from photos, let alone cropped ones :) I think the most answers were around C and N fam with some for D and G fam, which was super interesting! I think it might point out to one of her accommodations at least being vertical, though until David verifies her we won't know for sure.

Absolutely adore her style! She strikes me as an FN based on how the more flowy, off the shoulder looks flatter her, but I’d love to know what others think.

I’ve been going through different subs trying to figure out her Kibbe and different threads and posts say different things. I feel like because she gets styled for her body correctly, It’s also harder to see because her outfit suit her so much but I’ve tried to find some pictures that show her silhouette the most.

I tried on this shirt today, knowing it probably wouldn't flatter me, but the color was so nice and it looked so nice on the model I had to try it. But of course it didn't flatter me at all lol. Is this an example of my bust line interrupting the fabric? Or should I just have sized up? The top seems to fit me around the neck and shoulders and upper chest but if I lifted my arms it would immediately bunch over my bust

I suspect I am a pure D. I've been trying really hard to get shoes and accessories right. I felt happy and confident in this HTT, and I got some head turns on the street (maybe just because the shorts are short!). I tried to do a shoe that is more geometric and D-friendly, and a necklace that accentuats vertical, along with SHORT shorts so that my legs can add the vertical element. I think the shirt is a little too open on top (the straps slide down my shoulders tbh, a problem I often have that makes me suspect D... I prefer racerback style) but it is comfortable and I like it... and I felt the necklace broke up the space a bit.

Any input is welcome <3 And would be super curious how vertical types here are styling shorts and what types of shorts you wear! Or, heck, how do you do shorts whatever your type?

I've seen past conversations about Kate Winslet not being a Romantic because she's too tall. Different people believing her to be different heights.

However...

I'm watching a "Who Do You Think You Are?" episode with her. There's a part where she's in a tiny old home where she has to duck down and says, "I'm not very tall and even I'm struggling. I'm only 5 foot 5."

There we go. She can remain a Romantic. 😁 And we need to be careful of online listed heights...

What do we think for her?

Been listening to The Doors a lot lately and I’ve always had a thing for Jim (and Kibbe men typing is a bit more fun on here…)

My knee-jerk instinct was natural family but after looking at some of the verified Kibbe men, I’m kind of stumped, I can see a number of others as well (romantic? soft dramatic? classic?), the only one I’ve sort of ruled out is gamine but I can be convinced of this too tbh. He is just below auto vertical for men.

Towards the middle I added photos of him very young and towards the end of his life, where his style doesn’t really match the image he crafted for himself as a frontman.

When I scroll through this community, I see a lot of the same things, so I had a thought.

SG is what people think TR looks like. Sometimes what people think is FG is really TR. Width and curve are incredibly misunderstood.

I've been struggling to find good DC inspiration that I can relate to, beyond the official verified celebrities (Lizzy Caplan, Michelle Yeoh for instance). The celebrities here have been mentioned as being potentially DC in this sub, with some more controversial than others. I think they have great fashion.

So in here, Greta Lee (5'5" - discussed here), Rhea Seehorn (5'5" - discussed here), Emma Watson (5'5", discussed here), Saoirse Ronan (5'6" so theoretically too tall for DC, discussed here), Amber Heard (5'7", so also too tall- discussed here).

I'm finding it tricky to type her. She comes across as taller than she is (5' 3.75" according to Celebheights). At first, I thought it was because she has long arms and legs but I actually think they are average length, just very narrow. Do you think she is a natural like her lookalike MIL and SIL (Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson)?

I watched The Red Shoes last night (highly recommend it btw) and Moira is such an icon! Moira was an acclaimed a professional ballerina and played one in The Red Shoes. I was really reminded of Vivien Leigh's playing a ballerina in Waterloo Bridge.

I'm curious if anyone else sees TR for her or sees another ID for her entirely. Selfishly, I'd love to claim her as R, but idk how realistic that is 🫣

She reminds me of a cross between Greta Garbo and Tilda Swinton in her screen presence (and was often likened to Garbo when she was alive, but I see a lot of Swinton in her roles and looks!) - regal, cold, with an intensity simmering beneath the surface. Last Year at Marienbad, Donkey Skin, Daughters of Darkness, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, Jeanne Dielman, and India Song are my favorite of her films.

Lots of great looks in her films - many of the full length shots have her in Chanel. I know we’re not supposed to do faces but her features are what push me towards pure D for her as opposed to SD - which I wouldn’t be surprised by either.

There are Lana Turner, Nancy Wilson, Ida Lupino and Michelle Yeoh.

I found it very useful to make this moodboard/collage since realizing that I’m Dramatic Classic. It made me realize how similar by the atmosphere, impressions and vibes we are… That’s Spectacular.

Has anyone else been through something similar? I know people maintain that your kibbe type never changes and all that, but about 3 years ago I lost 11 Kgs (24 lbs) (my weight fluctuated in the middle but has been stable since last year) and that resulted in me losing volume in my breasts, my collarbone popping up, and just in general my bone structure showing up more prominently. Instead of being more voluptuous and soft, I have more edges. Even when I adjusted my wardrobe to my new size, the same styles and outfit combos that used to work so well for me no longer do.

For e.g. bell sleeves used to look good on me, they no longer do. Dresses with ruffles, a-line skirts, etc. make me look like a child now. I realized that I look much better in more structured pieces now. I used to despise pants (I'm also 5 ft., so pants were always a struggle) and now I'm ditching my favorite skirts for pants.

I'd built a wardrobe and style that I was proud of over the years. I'm struggling to adjust, both in the fashion sense and psychologically. I looked in the mirror the other day and almost cried because I put on my beloved cowl neck dress that I've had for over 10 years, and it looked so flat on me because I had no boobs for it (it was adjustable so it wasn't about being too big). I know how to sew garments, I have done alterations and stuff too but it's not just about the size it's really about the style. Feeling a bit like I lost a part of me :/
