Misc. AU ANNOUNCEMENT: "The Life And Times of Kaguya Shimizu" what if Kaguya wasn't rich?
Greetings, I am Itto and I've come to announce my first major project in an upcoming comic series called "The Life And Times of Kaguya Shimizu", an alt scenario where Kaguya grows up as a working class girl and doesn't have her fortune.
SYNOPSIS:
New to Tokyo, The Shimizus have recently moved from Kyoto on a scholarship to Shuchiin Academy thanks to Kaguya's talents as a photographer. Now in her current predicament, Kaguya finds herself a working class girl in a school full of Japan's elite with her newfound friends as they help her survive and maneuver across Shuchiin Academy.
Character illustrations coming soon, Ch1 somewhere between Late August Early September.

Marchen Crown plot
Are we allowed to talk about Aka's other works here? I can't believe this was the series to follow up after Oshi-no-ko.
I really want him to have one more work in his bag that doesn't drop the ball. Even with Kaguya's final arc being slightly weak, I still find it pretty satisfying overall even with the missing conclusion of IshiMiko. But this series fucking blows man.
I've been reading it since chapter 1 and I can't believe this has gone on for almost 50. Things happen too fast and jump around like nothing, while other parts spend way too long on themselves. I wonder what the gameplan was. I usually describe this series to people as Aka's Fire Punch if it made less sense and was also just not good.

Spin-off Just finished We Want to Talk About Kaguya
It was really funny! Aka Akasaka is really good at writing comedy. Naturally wasn’t as good as the main series but getting small chunks of insight into the important events is super awesome. I’d recommend for anyone who wants more Kaguya-sama like I did

Manga How do you think Ishigami found out that Hayasaka had a bad past with the Shinimoya’s? Spoiler
it had always slipped my mind reading this panel that Ishigami teases Hayasaka about the Shinimoya’s of all things in retrospect how could he possibly know she has a bad past with them?
i went back and read other chapters out of curiosity if I had missed something that had implied this and although he definitely knew that Hayasaka was a former servant and close friend of Kaguya ( chapter 196 where maki calls Hayasaka Kaguya’s servant in front of him and Hayasaka being present to help with saving Kaguya during the helicopter arc) I never found any sort of implication that anyone knew what hayasaka went through aside from Shirogane and Kaguya( and Chika helping during the Kyoto arc)
more than anything I’m quite curious what could’ve lead to her telling Ishigami about what happened or if he even knows the full truth? on one hand I could totally see Hayasaka just telling him a watered down or maybe even made up story about her experience with the Shinimoya’s but on the other hand I find the concept of hayasaka opening up to someone who had nothing to do with what happened to her lovely for her character arc about learning to open up and ask for help. The only thing I quite doubt is Kaguya or Shirogane telling him I don’t see either of them spilling hayasaka’s personal business like that especially to someone as uninvolved with what happened as Ishigami

What to implement when watching the anime from manga?
So I want to start this anime but I read that important parts of the manga are excluded especially after the announcement of the final film, what do you recommend I read from the manga to have the most important 360 degree view of the work as possible?
r/Kaguya_sama • u/CarelessReputation73 • 8d ago
Anime What do you think about the tone that the anime implemented to the scenes of the manga?

Anime THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING ANIME/MANGA I'VE EVER WITNESSED.
A few of my friends recommended Kaguya-Sama, saying it's as good/better than AOT and Cowboy Bebop, at first I was extremely doubtful, HOWEVER after binging the series in about 3 days I can say they were right! Honestly it's one of the most well written, emotional, and I positively have fallen in love! I just ordered the entirety of the manga, so I can read any skipped content. Anyway, I just thought I'd say this is genuinely amazing, and way less well known than I expected

Manga The Dichotomy of Talking About Kaguya-Sama: Love is War Spoiler
It will never not be funny to talk to someone who only watched the anime, or only consumed the early chapters of the manga, and you bring up a moment from an arc, or a charecter arc that goes into some hard, not funny, emotional matters, and see them go through a “Kaguya Sama, The Rom Com anime.” Cause it is comedic, but dang, do some of these charecters not feel like they fit in this story, or some of these backstory’s just swing at you to the back of the head. Like I am laughing them, turns out one of the charecters is actually suffering from a lost parent, or are in such a toxic relationship.

Manga Hot take: Chika cares a lot about Ishigami as a friend and this panel shouldn’t be used as an indicator of that Spoiler
gallery( DISCLAIMER: I’m not an Ishifuji enthusiast, and this is not in any way trying to imply these two have as close a relationship as their main friendships in the series)
( Second disclaimer: I’m very open to being proven wrong on my interpretations. I am not trying to disrespect anyone's interpretation of their relationship. I would like to start a discussion on a relationship in Kaguya Sama that I feel is a bit deeper than people give it credit for. Please be respectful and enjoy talking about the topic)
I see many people use this panel as legitimate support to the idea of Ishigami Chika only being mutual friends and or not wanting to hang out alone with each other but in my opinion this panel is nothing but an absolute gag something similar to all the times Kaguya refers to Chika as a disgrace to humanity and or Shirogane calling Ishigami an idiot I know that Ishigami‘s thoughts here may make it seem like a more serious panel but I think people fail to remember that ishigami is spiraling during this chapter into loneliness as well there being multiple other moments in the series I feel deeply contradict what people want to spin this panel into
Exhibit A: Chapter 176: Yu Ishigami wants to show off
I dont often see many people talk about this chapter but it shows Ishigami wanting to learn volleyball Chika runs into him and despite having traumatic flashbacks to her time with Shirogane agrees to train him ultimately Kaguya and Shirogane run into them and Kaguya chooses to train him but it still shows that complete Willingness to be alone with Ishigami and do the exact same thing she did for Shirogane
Exhibit B: Chapter 178: Senpai-kun and Kohai-Chan
Chika Fujiwara in this chapter is shown to genuinely care about Ishigami’s incident i wont necessarily use this as evidence itself because at least to my understanding Ishigami and Chika hadnt interacted much by the time that flashback had happened but what did call my attention to was how the president remarked and almost seemed sad that Ishigami didn’t trust Chika lamenting that she was the angriest out of all of them when she heard his story to me this seems like Miyuki Seems to believe Chika genuinely cares about him and is somewhat saddened by the idea of him not knowing that
Exhibit C: Chapter 200: Chika Fujiwara wants a celebration
( off comment note this chapter felt like aka break dancing on the tears of ishafuji shippers over how dead their ship was)
In this chapter, Ishigami and Chika celebrate their dual birthdays together, along with the council, and depending on the way you view things, this chapter has pros and cons for my argument as well
The pro: Ishigami shows genuine interest in giving Chika a birthday present she likes, and she seems genuinely touched by how he took the time to pick out a board game he knew she would like to make her happy on her birthday
The con: Chika does whine a bit throughout this chapter about sharing a birthday with him or some gifts seeming somewhat romantic towards her and him, but these can be seen as classic Chika being a bit self-centered rather than any sort of indicator of their friendship again or her interest in him as a friend
(I don’t really count this as a con because i do see it as a straight up joke but she does give him a piggybank for his present and even Ishigami comments on how horrible of a gift it is I personally see this again as a gag not meant to be taken seriously but I personally think I shouldn’t leave out anything that can be used against my point as Im not bias)
Exhibit D: Chapter 188: Miko Inno can’t make him answer
In this chapter, it is where Chika infamously says, “ Don’t you know how much I worry about my useless kohai?” I’ve seen this used as a defense for their relationship once or twice, and although throughout this text I’ve made the point of not using gags for characterization or for a view of relationships, the specific examples I used all were gags that didn’t actually line up with the relationship the characters have. When Kaguya calls Chika a shameless slut we know Kaguya does truly care about Chika and doesn't actually feel that way about her. When Shirogane calls Ishigami an idiot, we know that Shirogane doesn't actually see Ishigami as an idiot but rather an extremely smart guy in his own right. And that’s why i Think it’s fair to count this scene because it lines up with what we’ve seen in the series so far about how protective Chika can be of Ishigami in private and it makes sense within Chika’s character to be genuinely offended by her efforts being diminished and expressing it in the playful and challenging way she does of cussing him out and challenging him to another round which is why I think the useless kohai statement is direct proof of how much she actually cares and sees him as a close friend
Exhibit E: Chapter 276: Ai Hayasaka‘s final chapter
i will offhandedly bring up the fact that Ishigami and Chika seemingly do keep in some sort of contact seeing as he knows that She’s been busy lately and personally invited her to the reunion although this could just be because she’s a public figure they don’t really interact much in this chapter though so I can’t comment besides my personal opinion that if they kept in contact after school it shows they were a lot closer than people think because most highschool friendships that are more through mutual friends never speak a word to each other even if said mutual friends stay in contact with them————————————————————————————————
The one major weakness in my argument:
The one weakness I would 100% call out myself with my point of view is their lack of emotional Intimacy Chika and Ishigami never really have a moment where they truly open up to each other the way he does with Miyuki, Kaguya, Or Miko . And to that I think it boils down more to what Chika Fujiwara is as a character. unlike every other main cast character Chika Stays stagnant in her role as a comedic relief she never really has a truly emotionally intimate with anyone until her final chapter with Kaguya. it can feel like she isn’t very close with Ishigami because all of Ishigami’s other relationships that are close have deep trust and emotional intimacy. but when looking at Chika’s actions and feelings towards Ishigami I think it’s fair she does actually cherish him as a friend
Conclusion:
If I’m honest, I think Ishiafuji shipping in of itself is a product of self-inserting with Ishigami and or latching onto a pair very early in a series, but I think Ishafuji as a friendship is much deeper than people realize, and it is actually one of my favorite friendships in the series. And I think the genuine platonic affection Chika feels for Ishigami is constantly ignored within the fandom
