[History] Anyone remember the N in Manhattan being painted red 11/2001? Before the game in Nebraska?

ETA: yes I do have photo proof of the red N and know who did it. What a wild story to hear after these years lol https://imgur.com/a/gj5lxTG

I am looking for anyone who remembers a specific piece of Big 12 lore from November 2001.

right before the Nebraska vs. K-State game someone snuck up the hill on Highway 24 and spray-painted the "N" in the giant "Manhattan" welcome sign red.

Does anyone here remember it?

Hypotheticallyyyyyy if someone actually had a physical photograph proving this happened... what would be the best way to share it after all these years lol

Need a temporary room or roommate in the Kansas City area – starting a new job next week

Hi everyone,
I’m 25 and I’m looking for a temporary room to rent or a roommate in the Kansas City/Overland Park/Lenexa area.
I’m about to be evicted and don’t have a car right now, but I recently accepted a new job and have orientation next week. Once I start getting paid, I’ll be able to pay rent and work toward getting my own place. I’m also dealing with some court expenses, which has made things financially difficult.
I’m not asking for a free place to stay. I’m looking for someone who has a room available and is willing to work with me until I receive my first paycheck. I’m clean, respectful, I don’t smoke , and will do my part around the house.
If you have a room available or know someone who does, please send me a message. Thank you for reading.

Kansas State begins a new era with a familiar name. Former legendary Wildcat QB Collin Klein returns to Manhattan as the head coach.

2025 was a strange year, but this is a program with a strong foundation that makes them a contender in the Big 12.

Full 2026 Preview is attached. What are your expectations for the Wildcats in 2025?

K-State Graduation Rings

Does KSU have graduation ring pride? In Texas college graduation rings are a big deal i.e the Aggie Ring (Texas A&M) that are worn by all alumni. Figured I would ask here if the graduation rings are a “Thing” at KState

New to town

Hello! I’ve been feeling out of place since I’ve relocated for school, I’m 23, so a bit older than the usual crowd here. Im looking for insight on the best places in town to meet motivated people my age. I love to go out, stay in, play sports, anything that involves being off my phone or not at home honestly haha. Ideally I want to surround myself with people who are academically motivated and are also extroverted. If you have any advice for places to work, or things to sign up for, I’d appreciate it :)

Play Fake Baseball for KState?

Post image
3 Upvotes

First up, what is r/fakebaseball a.k.a MLR?

It’s essentially a number guessing game - the pitcher submits a number between 1 & 1000 in secret and the hitter tries to guess a number as close as possible to the pitcher. The result of each At Bat is entirely dependent on the difference between the pitcher’s number and the hitter’s number and we add in a little extra flavor by allowing players to choose ‘builds’ that can change the outcome slightly. The numbers ‘wraparound’ - a pitch of 1 and a swing of 1000 will lead to a difference of 1. Games are played out over a 10 day period and our season runs for 16 regular games and 4 rounds of playoffs before the Paper Cup Champion is named. Each season lasts approx. 9 months.

But it isn’t just guesswork…

Our community of 700+ people is headed into its 13th season and we’ve got people from all over the world and from all walks of life.

So what’s next?

Firstly, the subreddit r/fakebaseball is where our games are played, feel free to browse through the threads and get a handle on the format. We’ve got a pretty nifty bot that handles most of the legwork. We're currently in the last session of Season 12 before the playoffs, which also includes a Summer Sadness tournament for those teams that didn't make the playoffs.

Most of the community can be found in our discord servers: we have one for Fake College Baseball which is where you’ll be headed for now, and we have one for Major League Redditball which you’ll gain access to a little further down the line.

This year Kansas State is one of the teams that has been selected to be a college represented in Fake College Baseball!

If you're ready to get going, go ahead and click on the link below and get your college ball career started!

URGENT RELET NEEDED

URGENT RELET NEEDED: Hello! Unfortunately, my plans have changed and I am in search of a relet for my apartment starting August 2025. It is a 2 bed/bath.

The location is The Quarters located at 2215 College Ave. Manhattan, Kansas 66502. It is located just a walking distance away from the football stadium. My current rent rate is $699/month and my lease ends July 31 2027. You will be responsible for electricity and water. The average for electricity is about $90 per month. The rent rate does include trash, pest control, snow removal, lawn care, and internet. Another great thing about reletting is that you DO NOT have to live in the same apartment I lived in, all you must do is agree to be my relet and you can move into any apartment within the complex.

It is a fully furnished space and very nice, as well as pet friendly if needed! If you need to move in early, I would be willing to discuss covering the early move in fee.

If you are interested, please contact message me directly or comment!! If you would like to set up a tour or have any additional questions you can contact a Community Assistant at 785-496-9147.

Has anyone had this happen with their summer financial aid pell grant? My account was already paid prior to the pell grant being applied, so I was in good standing. I havent dropped any classes and all of my classes start and end at the same time and have already began. I am just so confused and a bit worried that I may not be getting my pell grant refund!

Incoming PhD CS student — funding revoked after advisor transferred. What are my chances for a TA position?

Hi everyone,

I am an incoming PhD student in Computer Science for Fall 2026. I was initially admitted with funding support, and based on that funding I completed the required admission and visa-related process. However, later I was informed that my funding was revoked because the professor who was supposed to support me transferred to another university.

My admission still remains valid, and I have now applied for a TA position in the department. I am trying to understand how TA decisions usually work for incoming PhD students.

I would really appreciate any insight on the following:

  1. When are TA position decisions usually announced for incoming Fall PhD students?
  2. How competitive are TA positions in CS departments?
  3. What percentage of PhD students usually receive TA positions?
  4. Since I was originally admitted with funding but lost it due to a faculty transfer, does that situation improve my chances in any way?
  5. Is there anything else I should do while waiting for the TA decision?

This situation has been quite stressful because I had planned everything based on the original funding offer. Any advice from current PhD students, faculty, or people who have gone through a similar situation would be very helpful.

Thank you.

Confused

I’m looking into enrolling for the online food science bachelor’s degree. I was looking at the tuition and costs but it’s including books and transportation and stuff. I’m trying to see the tuition for online classes. Idk if it’s half online and half in person. If it’s in person too I can’t go. If anybody went to the school online what are the tuition costs?
