I'm watching Jurassic Park right now and noticed something. When the helicopter is flying to Isla Nublar, the sitting arrangement is like this: Hammond on the extreme right of the seat facing the rear, Ellie to the left of him, and Grant on the left. Facing them, on the front-facing seat are Malcolm facing Hammond and Gennaro facing Grant (on Malcolm's right). However, when they landed and the door on Gennaro's side is opened, Hammond is the one sitting in the seat facing him (where Grant was before), and he steps out first, followed by Ellie and Grant. Has anyone noticed this before?

Funny thing is, when they show the shot of the helicopter flying towards the island from above, Hammond's white shirt can be seen through the window at the seat that he gets off from later. While I know that would probably be a stand-in, it is an interesting choice to put him there since in the very next scene he is on the opposite side of the seat telling Grant how to buckle his seat belt.

Another small goof (creative licence, I know!) is that if Hammond is facing the rear of the helicopter while flying, how can he be the first person to spot the island and point it out to the others ("There it is!") while pointing towards the rear?

Hi everyone! Here’s a portrait sketch I did of Sam Neill (Dr. Alan Grant).

So if any of you don't know, The World of Kong is a book that expands and goes in depth (exploring the flora, fauna, ecosystem, species evolution, and geographic activity of the island) of Skull Island in Peter Jackson's King Kong from 2005. It also tells us what happened to Kong after he died at the end of the film.

Imagine what a similar book could do for the Jurassic franchise for Nublar and the Five Deaths?

Not just go in depth on the history of the islands but also on InGen and Masrani Global's activity on the islands, and species profiles & data.

Wu found redemption at the end, Daniel Kon sacrificed himself to protect his son and Soyona did seem to grow to care for Brooklynn before her betrayal and could be reasonable at times (like sparing the Nublar Six after Brooklynn came with her despite them being a threat to her plans).

On the other hand, Hawkes is a ruthless mercenary willing to murder kids with a smile, Kash was purely evil, the Handler's only redeeming quality is her love for her raptors and Sarr fed his own crew to the Baryonx, which disgusted even Santos.

I always love the more despicable minion trope

So they just don’t care? Never mentioned him? Last time Ellie sees him, she’s about to go to the maintenance shed. She returns to the emergency bunker and I’m sure she tells them about Mr. Arnold’s fate, but aren’t they forgetting someone?

It’s looks accurate while in my opinion still resembling the rexes from the franchise

The colors are perfect, especially around the eye area since it resembles how that area looked on rexy in the first movie

And, oh boy, is it different then the movie! I did not see that coming. It was also very interesting to read how every movie so far has borrowed ideas from just this book!

There were some strange things that didn't add up to me, but it was very thorough read and basically finished it in two days.

For those who have not read it, I'll put the rest under the spoiler tag, so click at your own risk!

First off, I love the characters. They are much more flashed out then the movie. Which obviously makes sense, there is simply much more space to this.
However, I absolutely hated Lex... My god. How many times she was whining, and screamed: "I'm Hungry' or just being annoying after all. The way she was written also didn't make much sense, for in the beginning of the book, when she is 'cool' and collected and plays with her baseball glove and ball with others, she appears to be very mature. As we keep on reading however, she turns into this.. 7 year old child? "No, I don't wanna" "No, I found it first! Its mine!" (while velociraptors are litterally hunting them) .... or, when they find a dead guard and her first thought is: "I'm hungry." Really?
Malcolm's chaos theory. Holy... I get it. You want to explain that everything always keeps moving forward and that you can never suspect what will happen, but there paragraphs upon paragraphs devoted to this. At one point, there is almost an entire chapter.
Hammond. Now, I watched the movie and I totally understand why they made him into this sweet old man, basically, the perfect grandpa in the movie, for he was a dick! My goodness, that came as a very interesting surprise!
MULDOON LIVES! Hell yeah! That was awesome!
Malcolm dies. WTF?
Hammond dies. WHAT?
WU died to??? But I just saw him in a film.... Sus.
Donald Gennaro lives! YAY..?
And the final thing that really, REALLY, bugged me throughout the whole book. In the beginning, they count 8 Velociraptors. And they are locked inside the pen basically just outside the visitor center? (Doesn't seem like the best place to keep them, since they are, extremely intelligent, and will always try to escape) but we'll gloss over that. During the ride, Lex already mentions that she sees a raptor running around. Nobody believes her. Then during the ride, Malcolm does his test and the computer goes from 8 to 37! Raptors. And they all aint living in that pen, let me tell ya!
No, they are apparently already comfortably running around. Because the first one was spotted in the big Bronto area. So... Why does no one find this absolutely scary as f*ck?? They get out, run around, out of the cars, mend fences, while they KNOW that a large part of velociraptors is just chilling somewhere.
Now granted, towards the end of the book the big flock somehow got away. Most likely due to the boat, and they got on and such. But the characters don't know that yet. If I was there, and I know that 8 raptors are very mean and sit in their cage, and then I learn that there are actually 29 unaccounted for.... I would not be walking around so easily

Anyway, I loved it, had some gripes with it, but overall, it was a very good!!<

Well, the title pretty much sums it up. I just want to have a conversation about the first two books, "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World" because everyone I know has not read the books. So I'll just get it started.

My favourite moment in the book has to be Ellie running from the velociraptors or Hammond dying, atleast from the first book. Ellie's arc really showed me that Micheal Crichton was breaking atleast some sexism in books by writing a strong, confident woman. I loved Ellie so much, she was my favourite tied with Malcolm for absolutely ripping apart Hammond while dying. Well I also love Muldoon but genuinely, who doesn't love him.

I kinda think I just wrote a lot of hate on Hammond... But I was so happy reading his death part because I hated him so much. From the very start how he made a elephant with health problems and he wanted it to die so a new one could be made. To the end how he had no remorse towards the visitors, and his staff, that literally died because of him. He was literally going to build a new park but on the main land. And his death was so brutal, getting paralysed by Compies and then the BABY T-rex finishing the job. Beautiful.

For the Lost World now, I gotta talk about Sarah Harding and Kelly, also Arby because the movie butched these three so much and I prefer this book to the first one but the movie is my least favourite of all 7.

Let's start with Sarah, similar to Ellie but so much better since she KICKED Lewis Dodgeson from out of the car straight into the T-Rex, it was amazing and I loved her for that. But then in the movie, they completely cut that scene and replaced Lewis with INGEN? A corporation which, quite literally, BOMBED after the first book/movie. And they forgot Lewis till 4 movies later and didn't even give the proper death, nor gave Lewis his "sidekick". And above(not really) all that, she was the daughter of DR. HARDING, another character I loved from the first book which again, the movie absolutely butched(giving him a minute of screen time and replacing him with Gennaro).

Next is of course, Kelly and Arby, the two geniuses. Kelly in no way is related to Malcolm, shes not his daughter, she wasn't even his student. She and Arby were Levine's students, and his best students at that(i know we don't see any other). I loved their parts with the technology, with Arby hacking into the cameras from the trailer and Kelly saving everyone in the gas station(something they couldn't even do in the newest movie). I also felt so bad for Arby when he got kidnapped by the Raptors(fitting name honestly), I just know he got so much trauma from that, well both of them definitely did but yeah.

Honestly, in the end, I HATE how Speilberg did the adaptations of the books. Don't get me wrong, I loved the movies but as an adaptation, you can't say they were good. So many fantastic characters were either cut out, not given the proper attention or just made into poor storylines. And cutting out the aviary, hotel(extremely important too which he didn't add to the bunker), or even the baby T-Rex. Could've easy added the baby to when Alan(may Sam Neil rest in peace), Tim and Lex were in the forest.

Edit: I accidentally switched up Muldoon and Gennaro But also... THEY RUINED GENNARO, I loved him in the book and he would NEVER run away from Tim and Lex, only that stupid, wimpy ass coward Ed Regis(I suppose it was a good thing he was cut but also bad they blamed it on Gennaro)

New edit: I fully understand if you want to talk about comparing the two films, I know I went on about comparing the two and I dont want to seem rude or condensending or anything but I kind of just wanted to talk about the books in general. But this is a public post so anyone can talk about whatever.

The way he just ''departs'' leaving Ellie behind as she watches him leave hit me hard...This and when he puts his hat back on in the helicopter and gazes out at the Pterosaurs flying in the golden clouds are especially hard to watch now.

I made this and the display base and hand painted. It even has an Aztec death whistle inside, so it really makes a sound! I made it for my online store. Im looking for feedback and improvements so and advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Trying to slowly collect all the Dilophosaurus Funkos. I know there are Easter ones I’m missing and I think a purple Funko Fusion one. I have the flat little Funko plush but he’s still in some boxes from moving.

I was at Half Priced Books and saw this. So far it’s is a really amazing and interesting read. I won’t go into detail but it’s just a bunch of short stories from his life. He touches on a lot of things and there is even quite a few pictures. Would highly recommend. For me it is a great way to honor the late Dr. Alan Grant.

I would delete jurassic world rebirth

This movie is very bad in my opinion, one of The stupidest in The frenchies, And it doesnt't really look like a film from The frenchies, but the movie has good point, like The t-rex in The water, And you which movie would you delete?

Starting a Jurassic movie with a news broadcast of pure exposition is the worst I've seen in the entire franchise. The height of laziness and the most boring way to start a story.

(Specifically the theatrical cut of Dominion, the extended opener is way more effective)

Even Rebirth's opener at least attempted to be creative...

After watching the movie again after a long time, I noticed a curious detail.

A line of dialogue early in the film struck me as particularly interesting: when Hammond arrives at the dig site and tries to convince them to visit the island, he remarks to the doctor, "I'd like to hear a paleobotanist's opinion." I find this highly relevant because, as the movie progresses, we see dinosaurs suffering from indigestion after eating plants their digestive systems aren't equipped to handle.

Hammond seeks out Ellie because she possesses specific expertise in a niche field that only she can shed light on. Regarding Grant, he only wants his stamp of approval—since he is a famous paleontologist—but he doesn't ask him anything technical or seek his opinion; he doesn't seem to need a bone expert, given that Hammond's own science is far more advanced.

I also noticed a very interesting exchange where Ellie discusses the plants and the dangers involved while arguing with Hammond, the lawyer, and Malcolm. Furthermore, I believe the scene shown in the image is one of the best in the film; it seems to be the only moment where Hammond is completely sincere, and they discuss the park's dreams and problems face-to-face. Ellie is the only one capable of discussing this matter with total objectivity, and Hammond knows it.

Does this happen the same way in the book? Of course, this is just my own conclusion as someone who hasn't delved deeply into the source material; I’d appreciate hearing others' thoughts on this.
