Art/Meme Perfume inspired by Ju-On??

Post image
21 Upvotes

I bought a sample of this perfume purely for the name šŸ˜‚ I feel like its possible they were inspired by the movie because its a gothic scent that smells like being trapped in a cold, dark room with a dirty aquarium (bathtub scene??) Anyway, my husband didn't care and thought it was stinky, so I thought I'd share with people who might get a kick out of it. Its too challenging of a scent for me to wear regularly, but it'll be fun to spray on a card and sniff while doing a rewatch of the movies. Smell-o-vision!!

Question Looking for a short film and series Spoiler

One of them may have involved teke teke, but one that that stood out was about a a guy that lives in an apartment across from a convenience store. the clerk is an odd looking woman and is always staring at him. She at one point caresses his hands during a transaction. Anyway, at one point our main guy is hearing pebbles being thrown at his door, goes out on the balcony and the clerk is on the roof and smashes his head with a rock.

This was part of a series I've never been able to find. I found, through translation, episode descriptions that sound relevant, but that was a few years ago.

Review My thoughts on Onibaba Spoiler

Finally got around to watching this and I did enjoy it quite a bit. Its a well made and crafted film. Really enjoyed the sound design in this film, the lack of music helps enhance the sounds of the rustling grass, the crunching of the grass. just ever sound feels more real and immersive. At times the rustling almost sounds like claws scratching together which I know sounds weird but thats best way to describe it, makes the field of grass feel more dangerous.

I find it interesting that the Old Woman and Woman are never named. Wonder why that is?

Soo. discussion, Anyone else wonder if the story Hachi told them about Kichi is the truth? I personally don't think so with how he looked after telling it, like avoiding eye contact.

The first 2 times the Old Woman wore the demon mask is just striking visuals in how sudden they were, like she appeared out of no where. I also love how with all the different angles it makes the mask feel like it has facial expressions.

Now any thoughts on the demon mask? Do you think there was something supernatural about it or was it all something natural in how it got stuck? The Old Woman appeared to have the same damage as the samurai once the mask was removed.

Will say, the ending was very abrupt. Just the two jumping over the pit then The End

Would like to hear thoughts on this film

IMDB 8 stars

Collection Cure by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Rare english sub VHS

Post image

A crazy find, presumably a festival screener, and exceptional due to its English subtitles. Afaik the Japanese VHS itself is already quite rare. God knows how many of these still exist.

I'm really excited to watch this on a CRT but also terrified it's gonna be the one tape that my VCR chews up. Might try to get it digitized for posterity.

Anyone have any more info on this or similar international screener/promotional VHS?

Help/Suggestion Help me find episode of Tales of Terror from Tokyo

I remember watching an episode when I was a kid that really impressed me at the time. The only thing I can remember now is a bathtub with a bunch of blood. I’m pretty sure the protagonist was a girl too. Does anyone know what episode this might be? Thanks so much in advance!

Discussion Looking for an old Japanese documentary style horror show called "Honto ni Atta! Noroi no Video"

I can find references to it on old Japanese forums but I can't find any kind of archive of it anywhere besides some deleted Youtube videos and some posts on Nico (a Japanese video sharing site) which unfortunately weren't archived in time on the Wayback Machine.

I know it was aired on TV originally but surely if there were clips of it uploaded to the internet it has to be somewhere right?

Review EXIT 8 2026

I’ll keep this short and sweet as an avid fan for the ā€œ8ā€ series of games, a horror movie buff and someone who has written media reviews.

Set design - PHENOMENAL ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø amazing lighting, almost 1:1 adaption of the game
10/10.

Protagonist: biggest short coming, not only did I not care or anyone I was with NOT care about the protagonists backstory or anything about him, but his inability to react like a normal functioning human when encountering anomaly’s both in speed and in urgency was pathetic.

8 levels isn’t that significant, especially when at least 30-50% of these levels have NO anomaly’s.

The character was an ā€œEVERYMANā€. 2D blank slate with very little substance too him. I found myself getting frustrated with him.

Also: the asthma ? What a pointless addition, as it seemingly provides NOTHING or any form of payoff to the story. 40 mins of him wheezing for what??? Nothing.

GREAT acting though so: 4/10

Supporting roles: the walking man was excellent, the girl was great but the KID !!!

No consistency in the behaviour of the child. Sometimes pointing sometimes just staring, sometimes he would actively inhibit wrong decisions, sometimes he’d knowingly go along with them. Sometimes mute - oh wait, HE CAN SPEAK.

The child had the emotional range of a Deku Stick. Honestly so lame. No fear watching him or any emotion. The director really screwed the direction of the child up 2/10.

STORY:
It’s exit 8 ….its a film adaption of a 20mins indie horror game. I didn’t come into this thinking of much but here’s some desirable questions of what I would’ve like to see:

What is the Hallway ?
Why does the Hallway Exist
Why 8
Why does it choose people
What happens to them when they’re consumed ?

Some LORE??!!

I didn’t care much for the human element. It was always gonna be a film where we try and see him escape. But this film answered almost
Nothing. Got bits of it but that’s it.

Overall opinion and score: 5/10 - would recommend to watch it for someone who is a horror newbie or hasn’t ever played the games. But it’s pretty underwhelming and lame for anyone who has played the games and likes horror films.

Question Hey All. Are there any good YouTubers who go in depth on J Horror movies?

I'm looking for YouTubers who really go in depth and detail about all aspects of any one movie. Kind of like a retrospective but more of an in depth talk about the plots and things like that? Like a compendium to the movies?

I'm planning on watching tons of Japanese Horror this weekend. The ones I've watched 100s of times and ones I've never seen and I thought it could be a nice addition to learn some things along the way and get other perspectives.

Preferably long form videos but anything of that nature would be awesome.

Cheers. :)

One thing I just discovered was YĆ»ta Shimotsu directed three episodes. He directed ā€˜Best Wishes to All’ which is on Shudder and a great film. In hindsight that film feels like it could have been an Ito story.

I’m trying to get through all of Shozin Fukui’s work as he’s my all time favourite J horror director. However I can’t seem to find his documentary ā€˜The Art Idol Koe-chan's Challenge! Transformation Land’ anywhere online so I wondered if anybody knew where I could watch it?

Question How bad is Tokyo Gore Police REALLY?

I'd really like to watch it, considering I love the lead actress. If it's not suitable for family stuff, I'll watch it on my own. For context, by "family stuff," I mean if I can watch it with my mother. My mum also likes horror so it probably won't be much of an issue. I've heard mixed reviews about how bad the gore and sexual stuff is. May I get some feedback? Thanks so much!

Edit: Feedback received, will not watch with mama. Thanks, y'all! From what I've seen, it looks a lot like my other favorite J-horror (?) film, Psycho Gothic Lolita.
