The stitches are unfortunately visible (it was glued before) but at least it looks mostly consistent and rather uniform. Also forgot to take a before pic, sorry for that.

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit to post this on, but i’m not too sure where else to go.
I purchased this skirt second hand online knowing the back patch was peeling slightly, but it arrived in much worse condition than was shown. The skirt itself fits me perfectly and I love the silhouette and shape of it, but the peeling patch is really putting me off it.

I’ve attached a picture of it below. If anyone has any idea on how to salvage this, please let me know. Would it be easy to unpick the patch without the correct tools, or would it be easier to sew another fabric over it? I’m a complete beginner by the way, but I do have a sewing machine. Thanks in advance!

My plan was to remove the button to somehow mend the fabric underneath, but am not sure of the best way to go about it. It’s 100% viscose and I’m ok with a visible fix. Would love some advice!!!

I bought these a few days ago and went to meet my girlfriend the next day via a bike. Got into a minor accident and they got ripped under the kneecap area. Please tell me how can i fix this? This skirt has a light swishy fabric that keeps ripping at the hem. Brought it to a local laundromat and they re-sewed the hem, but it ripped again after 1 wear. Any ideas for a solution? I LOVE the print and spent $20 on ebay for this skirt. Don't want to give up on it.

Hi all, I’m devastated I ripped my dress. It’s a linen (55) rayon (45) blend. I only have access to hand mending. It’s in a voluminous part of the skirt, so I’m not too worried about a flawless mend, but want to prevent it from ripping further. Please let me know your recs. It’s about a 1 inch square area. Should I just put a patch on the backside and be done with it? TIA.

I ripped my favorite pants on a log backpacking, and decided to mend as invisibly as possible rather than throwing a patch on them (which is funny, because they're patchwork pants). I used a speedweave on the black and white (and doubled thread) and hand darned the red using red for the warp and black for the weft using single strands. I never remember before photos 😭 but you can see the size of the holes when I hold it up to the light.

I’ve a beginner when it comes to mending, and this is the first time any of my clothes has torn this badly. (A real bummer since this is my favorite shirt!) Hello, I have this blanket, which I believe to be 100% polyester (I don't know much more about its contents or origins), which has one frayed end which I used heavily for the better part of two decades. The original(ish) look in another corner is shown as well. My mother is decent with fixes, but I'm not sure where to start. Any advice? Thanks!

I sadly sat on a screw and a hole formed in this small triangle shape. I don't want it too obvious, as it is in a weird place. Do you have any ideas or techniques that I could try out as a beginner?

i bought this on the streets of nyc, got home and put it in the washer inside out and dried it in the sun. and this still happened. i mostly handwash every delicate item of clothing i have but i thought this t would be alright. any fixes please?

I somehow managed to get multiple small tears in the butt of my favorite pair of sweatpants & curious if anyone has any better ideas of how to go about hiding them? The fabric is a 80% cotton / polyester blend. I’d consider myself more of a beginner so looking for ideally the most simple way to blend these in with the seam to mend without drawing attention to the butt or making it look wonky. (I also feel like the color is tough to match to maybe a type of hidden stitch so i don’t have to go searching for a matching thread) Any help is soooo appreciated!

I’ve heard I should use darning but I’m not sure. I just want to make sure this tear doesn’t progress any more and will hold up as long as the regular fabric will. I have all the basic sewing supplies and needle types and sizes.
