Is it the best bike ever made? I dunno, but it sure seems like it.

I bought this in 2020 at Sturgis. Then and now.

Stage 1 (midflow intake; Rush pipes true dual exhaust), Stage 2, Stage 3 Thunderstroke 116.

Was struck by an unlicensed driver this past Fathers Day, totaling my 2018 Scout Bobber after roughly TWO MONTHS of ownership. I was fortunate enough to walk away with a mild concussion, whiplash and a bruised back, but am okay otherwise. Was able to get myself a 2023 Scout Rogue in my dream color!

Had a nice ride around my city and snapped a pic of my Springfield parked at a mill turned office building. Love those late night ride.

Can’t beat no helmets and the ocean air

I get it, a lot of people like analog gauges. When I bought my 25 Indian Scout, I went limited but did not want the tech package because I did not want the digital gauge. However, considering a bagger in the future, and one thing I will give Harley is their big digital screen, which looks pretty impressive. I wonder if Indian will follow suit and go full digital as they continue to improve their Ridecommand in the next few years?

I came across an Amazon air cleaner listed as:

“High Flow Cnc Air Cleaner Intake Filter For Indian Chief Chieftain Dark Horse Classic Springfield Roadmaster Chief Vintage 2014-Up” from TOPRAMETAL.

Visually, it looks almost identical to the Indian Thunderstroke Stage 1 High Flow Air Intake (minus the Indian logo), but it is about $380 less.

I already have a Dynojet Power Vision 4 with a Fuel Moto tunes, so my assumption is that I would not need the Indian calibration card. I should be able to install the intake, send Fuel Moto the updated configuration, and load the appropriate revised tune through the PV4.

Has anyone actually installed one of these Amazon versions?

I am mainly interested in:

• Fit and finish (is this product junk?)
• Any air leaks or mounting problems?
• Issues with tuning the bike afterward ?

I understand that the Indian part comes with support and the ECM calibration but nearly $400 is a significant difference for something that appears identical. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has firsthand experience with this intake or another version from the same seller on Amazon.

Hey hey, it’s me again lol

On my way back to my house after work, I always have to get on the freeway to get back home. It’s usually about 45 miles one way so I definitely try to ride my bike every chance I get , unless if I’m feeling tired. I have rode this to about 140 once or twice. I’ve had this bike since 1400 miles, now it has about 15,500 miles. I got it back in 2024, it’s a 2023 Indian scout bobber w/abs.

The issue I experienced this afternoon once I got on the freeway is that I hit about 75 to 80 mph which I’m already in 6th gear. Out of nowhere I completely lose power on my bike. Everything else was on , I just lost power which thinking about it. It’s pretty scary since I was on the fast lane, I had to quickly get on the right shoulder to be in a safe spot. I did not get any check engine light or anything. I walked completely around the bike to inspect it to see if I could see anything wrong but I did not.

Once I got closer to home, I stopped to fuel up. While leaving the gas station to get on the main road, being on 1st gear still. It started to “ boggle”? Giving it throttle to gain speed and power but again I stopped on the side of the road to see if could hear or see anything but I didn’t . After that I rode back home normally? I couldn’t hear, feel or see anything wrong with the bike. It’s shifting well but this is a bike.

Any ideas of what it could be? It’ll be much appreciated.

Trying to find a good faring, windshield, and/or windscreen for my 2022 Scout Bobber ABS. This one is ridden by my partner who is about 5'6". It has been a bit tricky to pin down good quick release options. Coming to the community to see if anyone has recommendations.

I'm actually quite interested in the Memphis Shields 'Universal' Hell Cat shield, but I reached out to their CS and they essentially said it doesn't officially fit this bike, but they actually don't know if it does. So if anyone has one of these on their 18-24 with stock bars, definitely let me know. (I might roll the dice to buy and try).

Ideally looking for:

• Smoke, gray, or black in color.
• Tall / wide enough it can largely stop buffeting / wind resistance and pushing it to the helmet going up to 65 MPH.
• Quick release or easy to remove

Finally pulled the trigger and got myself a Chieftain PP 112. Used with 6k miles at a decent price. So excited. Drove 85 miles from the dealership back to my house. Such a nice ride. To all the others that already have a chieftain pp or challenger what should I know? What should I prep for? Any lessons you’ve learned ? Origin sky wanted a thunder stroke. Love the feeling of an old school engine. Once I sat on a powerplus bike I knew what bike to get. Any advice is welcomed. Be safe out there.

Hey! I found a cheap (less than $20) helmet lock on Amazon that I wanted to share. Really cool aesthetics, of course it isn't all that practical with leaving my helmet with comms setup locked to bike (I take it in with me everywhere), but it is a cool little addition to add during meet-ups etc.

As you know the chiefs don’t come with an adjustable brake lever like the touring models do, and I liked the gold accents on these. Figured if I was going to do the brake I might as well do the clutch side too. Install was super easy.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a way to secure your helmets (rider & passenger) to the bike when parked? It doesn’t have to be Indian-specific and can be a universal tool/item.

20 years ago I’d hang my helmet on the end of my handlebar (unsecured) and wouldn’t worry one bit, but the times have changed.

I tried to do my own oil change and ended up puncturing the oil filter because of how tight the dealer put it on. So anyway the oil drained out over 2 to 3 days. I had to get a mechanic to remove the filter.

I bought the Indian oil change kit and it took the entire 4 quarts of oil and still did not reach the minimum fill line. Its barely there in the picture.

Two questions:

1. Is that normal?

2. I'm not an automotive guy. Do I need to buy the same oil to top it off or can I buy a different brand of oil? As long it is

Full Synthetic 15W60 oil, is it fine?

So i have a question, techs and old timers are swearing that doing an oil change with diesel 15w-60 is king in their bikes. What are your thoughts on it vs using motorcycle specific oil for changes? I have a 2025 super scout and dont want to grenade my engine but Im an former diesel mechanic and know how good the oil is/can be (especially quality Full synthetic) but not sure if something in the V twins needs moto specific. TIA

Hey everyone, I posted a few days ago that I got a new Chief DH. I was looking through the settings and noticed that the bikes oil change interval was not reset. I thought the dealer might've forgotten to reset it since they told me the bike was ready go and be ridden home but I decided to check the oil anyways.

I noticed that the oil is insanely low. Someone was saying that Indians have a semi dry sump so they'll read low until you run it for a bit and then check the level. Just wondering if this is true or not I can't find much about it online. Dealer isn't open until tomorrow so I couldn't ask them what the deal with this was. Ive already put 90 miles on the bike so I really hope nothing was damaged. I did check the oil when the bike was level and cold. I know the manual says to run the bike for 3 min then check but I'm just not convinced that running the bike will suddenly make the oil level jump that much. I'm also scared to run the bike since the reading is so low. While I rode the bike there were no issues and the oil pressure light did not turn on but I'm still worried.

Anyone else experience or deal with this? Thanks

UPDATE: I checked the oil again after running the bike for about a minute. The oil is 3/4 of the way to the add line which makes me think the dealership didn't change the oil. Bike says the last oil change was 90 months ago

‘21 scout bobber -
The powder coating is flaking / bubbling off near the water pump weep hole (see pics). Any idea as to how/why? More importantly is there a recommended way to repaint/coat this small area.

I just noticed a coolant leak, slowly dripping out the weep hole when the bike is running. Could the leaking coolant have caused this?

I’ve got parts on order to address the leak but fixing/mitigating the flaking is outside my previous experience.

I recently reviewed VB Iron Born Diamond Stitch Indian Scout Bobber 2-up seat on their website and they chose not to post it on their website. My review isn’t a glowing 5 star like the ones they do have posted which is misleading for potential buyers.

In my experience, my previous seat was the Indian Syndicate 2-up seat. I went for the Iron Born hoping for an upgrade in comfort. But there was no difference, maybe slightly less comfortable despite the “memory foam” claim.

In my case, this was a style change but not an upgrade. If you are coming from a stock solo seat, Iron Born might feel better comparatively plus it has a back seater.

The Good:
Price point
Diamond pattern
Takes up less bolts to secure

The Bad:
Very thin cushion
Very narrow seat
Leaves a sizable gap between bike frame and bottom of seat.
