The Type 02P Sniper Rifle is a variant of the Type 02 Battle Rifle. Its modifications consist of an extended accurized barrel with a flash hider, an adjustable bipod, a precision stock with a cheek rest, and a palm shelf on the grip. It is used with 10-round magazines and is limited to semi-auto only. The most common optic used with it is the 9x sniper scope.

Note I have not yet drawn the battery pack and transponder components because I can’t wait to post this *

The Germans had the zeilgerät 1229 and the Americans used m3 infrared scoped carbines on Okinawa, I was thinking what Japanese small arms fitted with infrared night vision scopes would look like, introducing the Type 5 active infrared scope.

The Americans used the m3 carbines on Okinawa with great effect, and the Japanese took note of this in the field. High command considered that they had been actively adopting night-fighting tactics against the allies in the Pacific, while Japanese troops were well trained in night combat, troops only relying on rudimentary night navigation skills might not have what it takes for the battlefields of 1946 and beyond. In light of this, the army technical bureau was tasked to look into this matter. Heavily based on the little blueprints and notes provided by the Germans on the zeilgerät 1229 active infrared scopes they developed. The Japanese were able to reverse engineer the scope promptly naming it the Type 5 active infrared scope. The first few prototypes were mounted on Type 99 rifles but they noted that the Germans mounted theirs on the STG44 assault rifle, therefore they ultimately used the early type 100 smgs as a testbed for their new Type 5s, the early type was specifically chosen because of their bipod and very controllable rate of fire of 450 rpm, making it more suited as a static defence weapon with adequate firepower while light enough for infantry to carry around. An unknown number of such type 5s were produced there were no paperwork about this project were ever found, assuming that they are most likely destroyed in the many bombings on the home island during the last days of the war.
