There's been some confusion about June 14th- let me help:

Indivisible Wilmington has gotten a lot of questions about why Wilmington isn't participating in a protest on Sunday. That's because there's no national call from Indivisible to have a protest on June 14th. Instead, Indivisible National is encouraging groups to host watch parties for the Rise Up, Sing Out concert (more info at nokings.org) in New York City.

While the event in NYC will be historic (Patti Smith! Rufus Wainwright! Jane Fonda!), we've opted not to spend time and money on hosting a watch party when we'd already planned a social at The Rift on the 18th (see below to RSVP).

So no - there is no protest in Wilmington on the 14th. While some groups across the nation may choose to host a protest, there is no coordinated national movement.

Alex Pretti was executed in Minneapolis while exercising his First and Second Amendment rights. Wilmington marches to remember all those murdered by ICE and CBP - those whose names we know and those we don't.

This march starts at 4:00 on 17th St in front of Novant TOMORROW, January 30th, and proceeds to the CBP office at 721 Medical Center Drive. Bring signs supporting our immigrant community members, memorializing our detained, deported, and dead neighbors, and generally telling ICE to fuck itself.

What we allow will continue and what continues will escalate.

Seems weird that DJT is now threatening to block the Washington Commanders from building a new stadium unless they change their name back to the Redskins.

I get it — local radio is like 3rd on my list after pandora. But still, npr has been (I thought) like a national treasure.

It’s only an 8% cut to local NPR stations — but doesn’t feel like we’re headed in the direction of greatness.

Hardy is a mom and social work professor who has been on the political scene for a few years now. Some might know her because she's currently 2nd Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, where she led a listening tour of a lot of Eastern NC over the last couple of years. Key platform issues: raising the minimum wage, stopping/reversing healthcare cuts, and protecting federal funding for our schools. Great to have someone who can make a real fight of it be out there this early.
