Football 2026 Portal Thread
This is your one stop shop for Portal News™ ahead of what is likely to be pre-portal news shortly after Christmas and then into the actual portal. We're asking that folks keep the rumors and discussion inside of this thread as otherwise there's going to be a flurry of 80-90 tweets a day claiming XYZ player is leaving or going or leaving and going at the same time.
I'll try to keep this up to date once a day with anything confirmed.
As of 1/20/26 ~12:00pm:
In Portal / Leaving
QB Dylan Raiola
QB Marcos Davila
RB Jamarion Parker
RB Kenneth Williams
OL Jason Maciecjzak
OL Houston-Kaahaaina Torres
EDGE Maverick Noonan
DL Keona Davis
DL Jaylen George
LB/S Roger Gradney
DB Caden VerMaas
DB Malcolm Hartzog
DB Preston Okafor
DB Brice Turner

Dante Dowdell in ATV accident
I know he left after 2024. Sounds like potentially a serious injury as he is being treated at Shepherd Center in Atlanta. They specialize in rehabilitation and treatment for brain and spinal cord injuries.

Eric Crouch passing highlights.
Why are there no highlights of Crouch passing the ball online it seems. I know they were way less common than his running scores, but I know he had a 5TD performance against Iowa. Was feeling nostalgic and wanted to compare his throwing mechanics against some of the other QB's

Football Anthony C reportedly QB1
News stations are reporting AC will be QB1. I suppose this was obvious given his number of starts. I am not sure the way AC plays is going to be effective in the BIG Ten. My take….QB2 better be ready!

Football Nebraska VS IU (Football)
Hey Everyone!
I am seriously considering doing the 10+ hour drive to Lincoln for the IU @ Nebraska game Oct. 10, 2026. Feel like this game is getting slightly slept on and hope both teams are going into it 5-0.
Went to the @ Iowa game last year, great atmosphere there and likely a 10x's better atmosphere in Lincoln from what I have seen on TV.
- Where to stay — looking for an Airbnb or hotel that's walkable (or a short drive) to Memorial Stadium. Which neighborhoods would you recommend for 4-6 people wanting to be close?
- Tailgating — is tailgating generally open to visiting fans, or are lots more tied to season-ticket groups/clubs? Any specific lots or areas known for being welcoming?
- Food & bars — best spots near campus for pregame food or a good beer, plan to get to there early afternoon Friday.
- Anything else — any Lincoln gameday traditions, must-sees, or things we shouldn't miss while we're in town?
Excited to see Memorial Stadium in Lincoln for the first time and to see how Husker fans do gameday. Thanks!

[History] Does anyone remember the "Manhattan Sign" prank from the 2001 Nebraska vs. Kansas State game?
as promised, the pic of the 11/2001 Red N…that was actually not done by Nebraska fans, just some young and dumb military dudes. lol

Football [History] Does anyone remember the "Manhattan Sign" prank from the 2001 Nebraska vs. Kansas State game?
ETA: yes I know who did it and I have the photo lol but too dumb to figure out why it won’t let me post it. ughh hold on. lol
I am looking for anyone who remembers a specific piece of Big 12 lore from November 2001.
Allegedly, right before the Nebraska vs. K-State game rival pranksters snuck up the hill on Highway 24 and spray-painted the "N" in the giant "Manhattan" welcome sign red to turn it into a Nebraska block 'N'.
Because this happened in 2001 and the city covered it up quickly, there are absolutely zero photos or digital traces of this online. Most people today treat it as an unverified urban legend.
Does anyone here remember this happening, or the fallout from it on campus that weekend?
Hypothetically….. if someone actually had a physical, film-camera photograph proving this happened... what would be the best way to share it with the community?….

Football Advice needed: Nebraska vs. Maryland - October 3
Hey everyone! Setting up the trip for 80 year old dad, my brother and I to see the Nebraska Maryland game on October 3. I was wondering if anyone had advice on where and when to get tickets?
I want to shell out a bit and get some great seats, and am wondering where that may be. I read that the "West Club" is nice, and anything between rows 10-40 near the 50-year line, but i cant seem to find much availability online! Perhaps it is too early? Thank you all!

Are we ready for the fact that Colandrea may very well be the next G6 to P4 phenom?
Think Diego Pavia. Jalen Daniels. Guys like that.
Colandrea was the mountain west player of the year. The mountain west is not the SEC, or the Big 10. But it’s an FBS conference with alot of under rated talent. Being the best player, or atleast best skill player since usually that’s who wins these types of awards, is no small feat. And while he wasn’t playing against Big 10 defenses, he also didn’t have a big 10 oline, tight ends, or receivers either.
I saw PFF grades come out. According to them, Colandrea ranks as the 3rd best QB in the big 10 behind only Julian Sayin (92.9) and Dante Moore (90.2). Colandrea comes in at 89.9, ahead of Jayden Maiava, the next closest ranked, at 86.2. For more context, Rocco Becht comes in at 80.0, Demond Williams of Washington is at 79.1, Josh Hoover of Indiana is 76.8, and Nico Iamaleava is 72.0.
Then there’s the stats. I don’t want to type it out or do the research to get the exact numbers. But according to the guys on early break, you could take a 20-30% mountain west tax off colandreas production last year, and he’d still have the third best numbers of any big 10 QB. He’s old. He’s gone through his growing pains. He’s ready to prove it on the big stage.
Guys, if Holgerson can get in his bag (and that’s a big IF), I do think this offense could be special next year. Holgerson needs to be able to find that offensive innovation and spark that made him successful for all those years. I hope he’s not an old dog who can’t learn a new trick, because I believe top to bottom, this is the best offense we’ve had since atleast the Taylor Martinez years.
Are you ready for Colandrea to be the next boom in the transfer QB market?

ISO: Passionate Husker Football Fan
Hi everyone! My name is Ethan Petrik, and I’m the Iowa beat reporter for the Quad-City Times in Davenport, Iowa.
I’m putting together a preseason series called “The Fan Files,” where I interview one passionate fan from each of Iowa’s 2026 opponents to get a better understanding of their program through the eyes of someone who follows the team closely.
Unfortunately, I cannot interview myself (or any of my family members or former college roommates UNL ‘21). So, I’m looking for someone here!
The conversation would cover topics like:
• How you became a fan of the Huskers
• Your thoughts on the 2026 season (best-case and worst-case scenarios)
• Biggest strengths, weaknesses, and players to watch
• Expectations for the matchup against Iowa
• Anything else you think opposing fans should know about your team
The interview can be done however is easiest for you—Reddit DMs, email, or another format that works though I will need to confirm your real world identity. I’ll use your responses in a feature for the Quad-City Times.
If you’re interested—or if you know someone who would be a great representative of the fanbase—please leave a comment or send me a DM.
Thanks, and I’m looking forward to learning more about the Huskers from the people who know the program best!
