Since Chapter 378, Togashi hasn't forgotten a single member of Morena's gang. Gelato, Bille, Daemon, Perigord, Padaille with his unique ability, even Yokotani the family's background lawyer, every one of them got a name, a job, and at least a hint of their power the moment they appeared. One woman alone slipped through that net.

She showed up at a burger stand on Tier 3, telling her companion to alert Morena the instant Xi-Yu was spotted. When Hinrigh tailed her alone, she didn't fight and she didn't panic. She simply walked into a civilian zone, and in doing so revealed, almost as an afterthought, that an entire crime family had registered itself as civilians to dodge every form of pursuit. That loophole kept Heil-Ly alive for the whole arc. And yet she vanished. No name, never seen again.

The theory: she was never one of Contagion's ordinary followers, building power one kill at a time. She came in already trained, Nen learned before she ever set foot on the Black Whale. She didn't join Heil-Ly because she believed in Morena. She has admired Tserriednich since she was a child, even though she has never actually met him. Joining Morena was just the closest way she could get to his world, a disguise to hide her one real goal, to finally stand close to him.

Her ability, going by everything we've seen of her, is a silent double paralysis. It freezes the body while simultaneously blocking memory formation in that same instant. Not erasing memory afterward, but preventing it from ever forming. That would explain exactly how Borksen vanished: no struggle, no restraints, no memory of the moment at all. This woman paralyzed her without a sound; Gateaume's spatial ability handled the transport to the hideout. Two steps, no scream, no witness.

But Borksen was never the real target, just the means. This woman will not make her move while Heil-Ly is still strong. She will wait until the family itself is destroyed. When Morena has lost everything and is left alone trying to escape the ship, this woman will appear again as the last familiar face, the only person she still thinks she can trust, offering her an escape route. Instead, she will lead Morena alone into a moment where no guards and no rival family stand between her and the Prince.

Only then does she use her ability for the decisive moment, paralyzing Morena just long enough to leave her standing face to face with Tserriednich. It is the perfect isolated stage for Tserriednich to show his true horror and his darkness, the same darkness that made even Theta terrified to teach him Nen.

And that's how it all closes. Morena's end won't come from the Spiders or from Xi-Yu. It'll come from the Prince she betrayed, delivered there by a woman Togashi still hasn't named, because naming her now would give away the surprise he's saving to reveal on her own terms.

The confusion comes from conflating the “earliest memory” Mito speaks of with the following flashback in which Ging leaves. This makes no sense because this was the LAST time Mito saw him before his return 10 years later and she has plenty of memories before this about her time with him which she relates to Gon.

Mine is Shalnark I always hated his type of character, the one who looks friendly and innocent but is evil and does heinous shit with a smile. If I had a gun and I was at a table with him and Hisoka I would ditch the gun and have Hisoka help me jump him that’s how much I can’t stand him.

In the 2011 anime adaption of this scene, they made the guy's seem more aggressive than they actually were in the manga. When I look at this scene, I just feel so sorry for those two guys.

They could have survived if they didn't have the unfortunate luck of running into an angry Killua. Imagine being a fellow contestant minding your business and tou come across their dead sliced up bodies in the hallway. There's never any mention of anyone finding those guys dead in the hallway or if Netero onew that Killua must have been behind their deaths.😨 I bet they didn't even get a burial. That honestly sucks so much for them.

Chrollo said " I'll give it to you on board "

Chrollo is talking about giving Shalnark his phone (ability) back which he stole (in this case took).

1) This means Chrollo can return an ability he stole

But what are it's conditions

-- Can Chrollo only give back an ability to it's original user.

-- Or he can give any ability to anyone he wishes

-- And can Chrollo give more than one ability to a anyone

-- And can Chrollo give Post-Mortem nen ability/abilities to anyone.

But How Would The Condition Work?

This suggests that Skill Hunter has an additional function or mode—one that allows Chrollo to borrow an ability using the standard stealing conditions plus one extra condition. This new condition would then enable Chrollo to return the borrowed ability to its original owner.

But How Would The Condition Work?

Call it a crackhead theory but togashi kept her alive for a reason. the narrative is leading us to believe hisoka will die to Chrollo permanently after he ends up taking a number of the spiders out but knowing togashi and how much he loves his curveballs and anticlimaxes, I feel like chrollo will not be the one to take out hisoka(who knows if Chrollo will survive in the end anyway). Given how much chemistry and screen time Hisoka and Machi have shared, and togashi vetoing hisoka killing her right there he definetly has some big plans for her later in the story, and i feel like it would be poetic justice cause she definetly blames herself for not being able to kill hisoka then and there before he killed Shalnark and Kortopi.

He's so damn good at drawing expressions.

This page with Oito and Shimanu, the look on Oito's face is so good knowing that she now knows that Shimanu knows Woble is male and not the real Woble. Not to mention Kurapika just pulled a gun on her a moment ago out of suspicion of her.

I can never agree with the folks who claim Togashi should give up drawing and just write for many many many reasons, but even folks who agree with me often show off his double spreads and grander art, but he really shine's even in these small moments with subtly and expressions.

I had this thought a while ago that the Succession War is an incredible arc but seems so different from the rest of the series. It's partly the culmination of several storylines built throughout the series but also partly a self contained story, so I wanted to see what would happen if you read the Succession War blind without any knowledge of the series and what happened before it. Kind of similar to the thought of watching Better Call Saul without watching Breaking Bad, except obviously the Succession War does not occur before the main story and relies on more details from the story.

So I asked my friend who has never read Hunter x Hunter, had no plan on reading it before, and knew next to nothing about the series to read the Succession War Arc and see how much of it she understands, and how her perspective of the story is different from someone who's read the series all the way through. I was especially curious to see how her understanding of nen develops as she reads the story, as she relates more to the characters who're learning about nen for the first time on the ship compared to the average reader who'd relate more to characters like Kurapika. The only bit that I allowed her to read from before the Succession War Arc was the 2 chapters of Kurapika's backstory and the 2 chapters at the end of the Chairman Arc (when the dark continent was introduced).

I understand this phrase has been memed to death at this point. But how did this even become a phrase to be said in the first place when it makes absolutely no sense. One of the main messages Togashi is trying to portray during the Chimera arc at least to me is that in a-lot of media the trope of “humanity” being merciful, selfless or gentle is flawed. When it’s actually the exact opposite humanity in nature is driven by extremely selfish and malicious goals. Gon losing himself to things like grief and revenge is an extremely human thing.

The fight starts with Hisoka declaring that his dream has been realized; he's finally about to fight Chrollo. He then says because he's waited for so long he doesn't want a friendly sparring match - Chrollo agrees, saying Hisoka constantly chasing him is getting annoying thus he declares a death match and Hisoka agrees by consenting.

The fight sorta begins with Chrollo showing off and explaining the abilities he's gathered and will use against Hisoka in this fight. Hisoka smiles at the fact Chrollo left him hanging after the exorcism to gather his cards.

Hisoka estimates Chrollo's intentions, thinking Chrollo is declaring a drawn out battle, which, in Hisoka's own words, makes him happy and that Chrollo make's him feel "so good". (Note: this is his reaction to Shalnark's black voice)

After showing off Bookmark and Sun & Moon, Chrollo talks about how style is important... arguably moreso than winning or losing. Hisoka takes this to mean Chrollo's not fully invested in actually beating him and winning but Chrollo clarifies that he has every intention of winning, then he asks the same of Hisoka.

Then he says to Hisoka he should carefully consider whether he actually wants to fight after seeing all of Chrollo's cards, so to speak. Hisoka's inner dialogue shows he's actually having a good time, he thinks, as long as Chrollo can fight comfortably he's good and that a battle is a dance in which they must move to each other's beat. In other words, this is exactly what Hisoka wants and is looking for.

Chrollo talks about the fact that having both hands free has vastly impoved his combat efficiency and rhetorically asks if it isn't wonderful that he can use a stolen ability with both hands free - Hisoka agrees, but also adds that it's annoying(In the translations I've shown anyhow, in another translation he just says it's wonderful but I prefer this one). Chrollo then pays Hisoka a compliment, saying he's setting a new record for the number of abilites it has ever taken him to kill someone and that he should be proud.

Chrollo also then talks about the fact that all abilities have strength's and weaknesses and that people compensate in varying ways, but that he can gather abilities AS HE NEEDS them and wait until conditions for certain victory can be met. Now, the most important part - Hisoka replies that that is pretty standard(meaning, to me at least, Chrollo isn't unique in doing this, at least not in Hisoka's experience. This is further backed up by the fact he goes on to say-) and his greatest pleasure comes when such people crumble to their knees and he looks down upon their disbelieving faces as their plans fail. (Note: at the end of the fight Hisoka will be the one with this look on his face).

Chrollo offers Hisoka one last piece of crucial information, that being about the fact Sun & Moon is a post mortem nen ability. He then says, he isn't saying this as a challenge or to taunt Hisoka but that he'll 100% win, then he gives Hisoka a way out by asking if he'll continue. Hisoka says of course and the fight begins in earnest.

From here on out there's no more dialogue between the two, just Chrollo carrying out his plan and we witness the fight entirely from Hisoka's perspective and how he's analysing and estimating Chrollo's movements and plans. After he takes a surprise hit from Chrollo from an angle Hisoka couldn't understand we get the sorta infamous panel of Hisoka exclaiming how much he loves it.

After Hisoka loses a hand, he's disappointed solely because he will no longer be able to pick apart and analyse Chrollo's strategy as now he'll have to fully lock in and focus entirely on survival. Then he dies.

The end.

SO! Why am I explaining all this when you, who's already read the fight, know all this already? Well, as the title says, was the fight a disappointment for Hisoka? I asked this question because there seems to be a prevailing sentiment that it somehow was. Not because he LOST mind you, instead people come up with a lot of other reasons and excuses, such as the fact Hisoka has stated he's not into group fights and want 1 on 1's and because Chrollo used puppets against him, it was no longer a fight vs him and Chrollo. Which, if you've read the fight and seen his reaction during it, is absurd to say the least.

But the most absurd argument has to be the idea that, because Chrollo stole Black Voice and Gallery Fake from Shalnark and Kortopi, HE INVOLVED THEM IN THE FIGHT. People have unironically said this which is more than absurd and downright insane. As I've demonstrated in my 3rd paragraph, Hisoka was elated when Chrollo revealed black voice.

Not to mention all the other cope about Chrollo cheating this and that and he not just involved the troupe by stealing their abilities but that some of them were literally in the crowd helping Chrollo while never being noticed by Hisoka and also somehow using abilities that Chrollo stole from them somehow.

Last thing I'll say so I'll also make it my conclusion. The idea that Hisoka killed Shalnark and Kortopi as either get back because "Chrollo involved them" or to specifically weaken Chrollo is also ridiculous. 1. He has no idea whether that'd just give Chrollo 2 more post mortem nen abilities or not. He could've easily ended up with a stronger Black Voice and Gallery Fake. 2. Togashi himself says Hisoka was also going to kill Machi but he vetoed it, he had Hisoka spare her just for her to send the message to the rest of the spiders that it's on sight. The REASON Hisoka is acting this way is because HE LOST. He got everything he wanted in the fight except victory. That's it.

I feel like HxH is the type of manga that doesn’t give the fans what they expect, meaning i think most people believe that kurapika is going to confront the fourth prince eventually and probably kill one another, but i feel like the events would take a turn in which kurapika confronts the troupe/Chrollo only to find out that they didn’t actually massacre his clan and that it was actually the fourth prince who hired some people to do so, and i think if this will happen it’s going to be after the fourth prince dies from the succession war, leaving Kurapika empty without a goal and realizing he wasted his life for nothing…

I’ve been thinking about this for a while but I’m curious about what creatures from other franchises do you think would fit well in the Dark continent. They can be Animals, planets or even desires just so long as you think that they would survive or Even thrive on the Dark Continent.
