Im a GP in England , getting a bit fed up with the patient expectations, systems and taxation here. I love HK and have visted a few times. My wife is cantonese born in england , we have a child as well.

They have made the process for moving and the requirements less strict now to encourage non locally trained specialists to come over.

The pay is great compared to the UK, schooling appears to be good based on my limited research. I understand rent is high , but I was hoping to get a rough estimate about how much you think 3/4 bed flat would run based around hospitals or is it worth commuting and paying less for bigger space?

Also are there any Family Medicine doctors on here who would shed some light on the work itself?

I will aim to get a cantonese tutor if we seriously consider the move. I know very basic words at the moment.

Edit : I will have to work at Public Hospitals for 5-10 years at first - so wont be private clinics.

I've been to Hong Kong a few times. All short trips though.

What has really changed? I just feel everyday life seems to be pretty much the same?

My boyfriend and I are visiting HK in September. I made a very simple itinerary for our trip but we plan to do as many things as we can. Does this itinerary look okay?

I left a lot of time allowance so we can squeeze in some quick trips to must-try restaurants or free tourist locations. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share it below.

I was wondering how feasible it is to work as a medical laboratory technician in Hongkong as a foreigner. I can speak cantonese, mandarin and English fluently and can also read them (as for writing, I am pretty bad at it since I rely on pinyin).

Hiked two mountains in Hong Kong!! Dragon's Back (super scenic) and Tai Mo Shan via the Ng Tung Chai waterfalls route! Hong Kong's highest peak (quite a challenge because it was raining and we probably got lost too). Anyway, so happy!! I love Hong Kong!

Hey all, a foreigner here, I recently changed employer and I was supposed to give a one month notice before but didn't. My old employer was very upset and angry, he didn't want to pay me my last salary.

They sent me a letter from lawyer saying my salary is $94,593 and for not giving them one month notice they deduct $81,356 so left to pay only $13,237 They deducted 86% of my salary for not giving them one month notice.

Is this legal? Can I do something about this?

Anyone can recommend a lawyer that could help get me my money back and hopefully suit them for more in compensation?
