I finally did it! I have tried several hammock stands in my bedroom but the space is just too limited. With lots of research and a quality stud finder, I used an ENO hammock kit and freed myself from the portable stand. Width of the hand space is 12.5 feet. Hammock is a 10ft Voyageur from Simply Light Designs. My hammock companion is super happy too.

What type of Hammock can I have in my UK Garden pictured

Hi, hammock newbie, Looking for advice.

So this is my finished garden. Not looking to concrete any posts in and dont want to be pinning anything into the artificial grass. Just want some advice from experts. Could I do something across from the Wall to the Concrete fence posts? If so what? If not my option would be a freestanding one like this Freestanding hammock but if that's the case then what brands are decent. What sort of price point should I be in.

Also in either case any particular style of hammock that works best. It's mostly going to be one maybe two person use and in Summer months.

Thanks

Do they even read their emails and reply?

I have sent them mails asking for help on verification process, never got replies.

Tried to reach them on facebook group, but my post is on monitoring phase while other people are fully posting something an hour ago.

If mails take forever to get replies and posts and comments need monitoring before posted,
Is there any other actual way for me to get help?

Alt set up for tensa4 to anymaka style?

Hey all!

Been loving my tensa stand! And looking at various ways to lay\sit to decide where i want to go next. I don’t really camp, but i do drag this thing lots of places to hang for a few hours.

My starter hammock is the wise owl double. And i have the tensa4 freestanding. I havent tried the tripod stance yet. My biggest difficulty with hammocks is physics, so sometimes i just fiddle till it sits right with poor understanding why.

I would like to have a more seated than laying layout sometimes, for views or doodling, and was wondering if there’s any successful setups out there to try out a lay closer to the anymaka chair and stand where you can drape the sides down to make a seat shape.

I fiddled some, and i think it could happen, but im not sure the safe way to anchor the lower portion that hooks on to the frame. I would prefer not to buy another portable build. If i did i think i would want to focus around something fancy like the draumr double to accommodate my dog *cough* wife. So any insight on tensa and compatibility there is welcome as well. I haven’t researched much of that.

Is a stick\square similar to the tensa tarp extension the right direction?

Amok Hammock Issue

Post image

For all Amok Draumer users out there! Is this normal to see light through the stitching of the sides of the hammock? This location is mostly in the middle of the hammock (where the butt would be) and I am worried one day the stitching will give out and I’ll fall through the hammock. Looks similar on both sides of the hammock.

Gathered End Suspension Question (Loop and Calf Ridge)

Thumbnail

I have a cheap hammock that I have replaced the rope and cheap carabiner at the gathered end with an Amsteel Loop and Cinch Buckle. I’ve had this similar problem with my Onewind 11 foot hammock as well.

After putting the loop through the gathered end, and running it through itself like a larks head, the gathered end of the hammock, just never actually seems to fit uniformly, and it throws the hang off, and may also be contributing to shoulder squeeze, and to Calf Ridge.

TLDR: Is there a secret to running the Amstel loop through the gathered end so that the ends are uniform and it hangs balanced?

I hope I’m making sense. I’ve tried looking at different videos, etc. but they don’t always seem to address the issue in a way that makes sense to me.

DD Frontline Replacement

My DD Frontline has recently given up, I think it got brittle in the sun and has then ripped. I really liked it, so i'm going to replace it either like for like, or similar. I've been looking at the Travel Hammock (same but water proof base), then also looked at the Superlight Jungle.

Does anyone have any experience with these? I fancied trying to use it as a ground set up too (see pic). The Travel one doesn't seem like a bad idea, but someone said it can be a bit sweatier? Then i'm not entirely sure I can see a solid use case for the Jungle one, that a Frontline and Trap combo couldn't achieve, and probably better.

How to hang a hammock here

Post image

New to Hammocks and Hammock-related accessories! I have two trees in my garden and would love to hang a hammock between them as a surprise for my wife, who’s always wanted one. Issue is, the distance is only 7ft which a quick bit of research suggests is too small. I can easily clear the small bush/tree that’s grown up and make sure there’s space between, but is there a particular type of hammock or way of doing it so that I can get a decent sized hammock in this space? Doesn’t need to be huge and I don’t mind hanging out of the end a bit. I’ve got my eye on a hammock with two spreader bars either end, but would this work here I’m 6ft, my wife’s 5ft 7.

Exceptional night camping

I live in Big Sur (doing seasonal work) and I’m frequently out in the Ventana Wilderness. I recently saved up for a 4 season Hennessy Hammock. Not necessary for California nights, but I pack for comfort. This is my 5th time using the hammock and I’m in love with it. It’s incredibly roomy and uber comfortable. It’s 8 pounds but the snakeskins make it easy to pack.

I have a hammock stand at home and would love for a seat styled hammock like this. Most others I see seem to be solo seating.

How do you store shoes and gear?

Long time camper and now scoutmaster who camps year round in hammocks. I usually strap my backpack to a tree with a rain cover and drop my boots inside my burnet to keep critters out of my shoes at night but I’d love to learn what’s out there for a week of storage. This week I’m in PA for summer camp and I have a scout tent I drop all my bags into then hang at night under a fly. Boots are still in bugnet.

What do all of you do for a big bag with a week of gear and are there better solutions for shoe storage as I will be upgrading to a DutchWare rig that doesn’t have a complete covered bugnet to drop my shoes? Was thinking of making a bugnet stuff sack for socks and shoes and hang from ridgeline but interested in what other pros are doing?

Stand that can hold weight

Looking for recommendations on a permanent stand that I can purchase that is safe for my husband and I to both lay in safely together. (We would like it to hold 400 lbs, 350 lb minimum.)

We have ENO hammocks (both the straps and the hammock itself hold 500+ lbs easily.) We don’t have trees at our home so looking to hang without always trying to find good trees.

Thanks so much! 🤙🏾

Hanging horizontal?

Thumbnail

I came across these huge live oaks with long, nearly horizontal limbs. Instead of hanging between two trunks, I’m wondering if it’s ever considered safe or reasonable to hang from large limbs like these.

There are three possible limbs to use. The spans between them are about 13 feet and 17 feet. My hammock is 12-foot, so I’m thinking the 13-foot span might work, but I’m not sure if hanging from limbs instead of trunks is a bad idea or changes the hang?
The limbs are massive and appear healthy, but I know appearances can be deceiving.
Are there guidelines for when this is or isn’t appropriate?

Update: Thanks, everyone! The hang was instantly comfortable.

I have to admit, the “widowmaker” comments had me spending the first few minutes staring up at those giant branches. 😅 But I’m unmarried too, so I figured I was probably okay.

I wish this subreddit let me add photos after posting—I wanted to show you the final setup.

Thanks again for all the advice!

Just a couple minutes hanging out under a tarp in some rainy New England woods last week before the sun decided to scorch us.

I think a 12foot onewind hammock/net combo with an eno rainfly.

It's like 95F+ degrees out there today and gonna be 100F+. I miss this type of weather.
