Over the last couple of years, I've gotten more into DIY Halloween projects. This year, I'm adding some motion.

And I thought I'd share some advice to new folks.

Don't worry about ripping stuff apart to get to something you need for your project.

And don't worry too much about how "good" it looks. You'll see everything with a critical eye and in broad daylight.

Everyone else will be seeing it at night, and won't know to see the mistakes or the "not perfect" parts. Also, most people want to be fooled. They won't look for nor see the wires or the supports.

This attitude has helped me finish a lot of projects.

I already wore the mask about 2 times but didn’t know how to clean one, especially with foam inside. Any suggestions?

Won this on Ebay about 10 years ago. Suppose to be from the 1980's. No markings inside or out. Creepy as shit and ive never seen one like it. Especially in such great detail. Does anyone know the background on this mask. My son literally shit his pants when I scared him with it on.

The past 2 years we’ve had a popcorn machine and had a family friendly Halloween-ish themed movie projected onto our garage with decor and costumes to match the movie theme. First year we did Monsters Inc with a replica of Boo’s door, last year we did Nightmare Before Christmas. Looking for ideas on what movie to do this year! Open to any classics or newer movies that kids would be familiar with (our kids are toddlers so we don’t know what’s “cool” 😅)

We’ve been dubbed The Popcorn House so now I feel the pressure to live up to the expectations lol. There’s several movies I can think of, but I want something that has some cool decor to match!

Hi! I'm looking for cheap or free images that I can have printed in larger sizes for use in our murder mystery themed Halloween party that will have a puzzle room element. We're thinking anything looking like late 1800's through 1930's posed portraits of older aristocrats, middle class men & women, a Texan with a big cowboy hat, and a butler and maid. Think the sort of portraits you'd find in a spooky mansion, but NOT the Halloween lenticular ones that change into zombies and ghosts and stuff (love that and have many, it's just not on theme this time.)

Anyway I've found some great things on stock websites like Getty or iStock but in order to get a download I could have printed it's in the hundreds of dollars for what I need. I'm not trying to use these commercially in any way, it's just for a party for friends (which we tend to go all-out on because it's fun :D). Most of those "free" image sites are only free for online use, downloads are $$$.

Short question long: any ideas for where I could find such things for cheap or free?

I really really don't want to use AI, though I know I could get exactly what I want very easily that way.

I’m doing a graveyard with a crypt in my yard this year. The picture is a rough diagram of what my yard looks like. The crypt will have a pepper’s ghost illusion in it. I want to back light the tombstones for eerie silhouettes and up light the crypt to give the scene depth. I need to be careful with the lights so that I don’t cause a glare on the pepper’s ghost.
I’d like the lights to be color changing and dimmable. I’d also like the beam to be adjustable.
Do you have any recommendations for lights?

I've seen a lot of people trying to find good quality videos/pictures of the ScareFactory Scarionette, and I think I may have found something whilst trying to find another prop! It looks like it doesn't have the same stretched face mask, but it seems to have everything else!
