Every founder who hires us now opens with some version of "can't we just run this through an ai content generator and cut the retainer." Fair question. So last quarter I actually tested it instead of arguing.

Took two similar clients, same niche, same budget band. One got our normal process. The other we ran mostly on generated first drafts with a light human pass, the setup everyone swears is "good enough now."

The generated one published faster, sure. More posts, more pages, prettier calendar. Three months in the numbers weren't close. The human-led client booked more calls off less content. The generated client got traffic that didn't do anything, plus a pile of pages we're now quietly pruning because they were dragging the domain.

The thing nobody selling the shortcut mentions: the generator doesn't know which three things your customers actually care about. It averages. And averaged content ranks and reads like averaged content. You still need someone who has talked to the customers to point it at the right problem, and that someone is the expensive part you were trying to remove.

I'm not anti the tools, we use them daily for grunt work. But "replace the thinking" and "speed up the typing" are different products, and half the market is buying the first one believing it's the second.

Anyone actually seeing generated-first content convert, not just publish? Genuinely asking, because I keep not finding it.

Twenty years in paid media, now fractional growth for a few DTC brands. The question I get most from founders lately is which AI tool makes the best social creative. Wrong question, and I'll explain with numbers instead of vibes.

On the accounts I run, creative is the lever. Not targeting, the platforms took that over years ago. So the real constraint is how many distinct creative angles you can get into testing before the winners fatigue. That's a volume-and-taste problem, not a "best tool" problem.

Here's what actually changed the numbers on one brand, roughly 40k a month in spend. We stopped hunting for the perfect creative and built a system to ship more of them. Rough shape:
- Went from about 4 new concepts a week to around 15.
- Used AI to render variations of a concept fast, then a human picked which three deserved budget.
- Kept a swipe file of our own past winners and remixed the structure, not just swapped colours.

Result over a quarter: CAC down roughly 20 percent, mostly because we stopped letting fatigued creative bleed spend for a week while we scrambled for the next batch.

The tool that generates the carousel or the video is the least interesting part. Any of them are fine now. What moved the number was velocity plus a taste filter deciding what to kill. AI made producing 15 variants cheap. It did not make knowing which 3 to fund any easier, and that's still the whole job.

So if you're asking which generator is best, you've already skipped the part that matters. What's your actual weekly creative throughput, and who decides what dies?

and i get it. and i have obviously seen it. ai launches on x are doing crazy number. like the numbers are insane for some of these. and the tech twitter on x is real and engaging especially when  new tools come out..

but they arent telling us how to do the launch. like yes launch on x. ok. and then what. post and hope?? that cannot be it.

the ones that blow up have a lot of retweets, a lot actually.. and ai space on x has specific accounts like robert scoble, aakash gupta, tiffany fong would been carrying a different weight, and when these kinda accounts repost something it moves differently than a rnadom repost. so getting those specific accounts to repost on launchday seems like the whole game

i just dont know how to make it happen. is it relationship or is it money or some agency. someone in  one founder group chat mentioned thelaunchvideocompany does exactly this for ai startups. need to check them and see if there are other alternatives

has anyone launched an ai startup on x. what actually worked

i run paid social for a small b2c saas, productivity app, around 9k a month on meta with a bit of google on the side

and ive noticed the creative volume advice splits into two camps that cant both be right. every agency and every "creative strategist" thread says you need 30, 50, 100 creatives a month or the algorithm eats you. then you talk to actual solo operators and half of them are running 4-6 decent statics a month and doing fine

im stuck in the middle. i ship maybe 10-12 a month, some ai assisted, some canva, some admakeai, occasional fiverr order when i want something polished. no idea if im massively under-producing or wasting effort on volume i dont need

so genuinely asking people who run their own accounts:

• how many creatives do you actually ship a month and at what spend
• of those, how many are real new concepts vs just variations (new bg, new headline, crop)
• did increasing volume ever visibly move your numbers, or did it just burn time
• is the 30+ number real for anyone under 20k/mo spend or is it agency talk to justify retainers

my suspicion is the answer scales with spend and everyone quoting big numbers is spending 10x what i am. but id rather hear real numbers than keep guessing

I post about macOS productivity tips. I am using chatgpt to compose my article and I manually post it on x daily.
The worst part is, I don't see much of 'macOS' related post to interact with. I don't get much views and near zero engagement for my contents too.

Is this normal?
