Tank Help Advice for oranda set up

Upvotes

Hey guys I have a 50 gallon currently thinking about getting a pair of orandas. I keep seeing different advice from YouTubers and decided to come here for some clarification. Would yall recommend sponges, canisters, or hob filters? Money is not an issue so whatever recommendations you have are welcome. I already have experience with fish but smaller variety such as betta, guppies, and platies. I want the very best for these fish so please whatever you can help with. I also plan on having some aquatic plants (water hyacinth) And anything else yall have had success with in your tanks! I have started cycling the tank as I expect to get the fish within 3-4 months 🙏thank you!!

hey guys! me and my dad have this tank for a couple months (we can’t remember when we upgraded them 🫠) and stocked it with some plants. we had a similar problem in the last tank where our plants are just not thriving. the fish do not pick at the plants, nor seem to care about them but the plants still get yellow and eventually die 😭. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Questions Goldfish friends

My 7 year old son came home with three goldfish from a market fair in our town 14 years ago.

We still have two and are very attached to them and they live in our garden in a 480l above ground pond.

One of the fish sadly looks like she is going to pass away very soon. We have given her peas, checked the water quality etc but she has a very swollen tummy and keeps swimming upside down - the last day or so she has just laid in the bottom of the pond upside down with her friend bumping her from time to time to encourage her to move.

When she does pass will her friend be lonely? Last time we tried to introduce a couple of small PetsatHome goldfish they chased our larger fish round and round and tried to take chunks out of their tails so we had the new fish rehomed. I’m worried about how to introduce any new fish in case this happens again.

Any and all advice is welcome.

Discussions Thoughts on Saki-Hikari Balance goldfish feed?

Apparently saki-hikari is a “premium” goldfish feed brand. I bought saki hikari balance after months of using hikari goldfish gold. Is it true that it’s more nutritious compared to other feeds? Let me know your thoughts on it.

Beginner Help aspiring fish parent in need of advice

hello :) i currently have a 40 gallon tank that used to house mice, but i'm considering repurposing it as a goldfish tank (don't worry, a DEEP deep clean is in order). i love fish and have kept them before, but it's been almost 10 years and i've never had goldfish, only bettas and snails.

i trust the folks here more than pet store employees when it comes to advice for taking care of them. so my questions are:
- how many goldfish can comfortably live in a 40gallon? i've heard 3 is a good number but i know they grow pretty large and i want them to have space
- can they coexist with other fish/animals? i was thinking of getting zebra snails as well. i've had them before and i know they live alright with bettas
- are there any specific food/brands you recommend for the best diet?

sorry if this isn't the right place to ask these questions but i'll really appreciate any advice :) goldfish are beautiful animals and i would love to take care of them

Hey chat , this is my Oranda goldfish her name is Ponyo and I’ve had her for almost 8 months now. When I first bought ponyo and brought her home she swam very normal not crazy fast or crazy but for the past 3 months she has been swimming very erotic and it looks like she’s freaking out. I thought in the beginning she was just excited to see me when I got home as when I get home she always greats me at whatever side of the tank I’m at and when her tank was next to my bed she would always watch me in my bed lol and I still do think she gets super excited when I get home as she doesn’t move this fast when she thinks no one’s around yk but I’m starting to get concerned if there may be something I’m doing wrong and it’s affecting her swimming. Plz lmk if this behavior seems weird to you or if there is something that’s could be causing this.

Hi my niece won this goldfish in the fair a few weeks ago, my sister moved out and left her so I started this tank for her.

I have done some research online but I cant find much information on specific things and was just wondering if anyone can tell me if this tank is suitable, should I make any changes?

I am planning on adding some more plants and another hide or 2 but was also wondering if it looks suitable for another goldfish. I dont even know what kind of goldfish ponyo is so it would be a while before I can add anyone else but if the tank is big enough for 2 knowing will help me to build it up proportionately.

The tank is 60 Liters
The light im using is an Aquael Leddy Tube but its only 10 Watts
The filter is a Beta internal aquarium filter but im changing this soon as its quite powerful flow.
So far ive been feeding her Tetra goldfish flakes

If anyone has any advice ponyo and I would greatly appreciate it thank u.

Hi everybody! Looking for some help with these fishies. I’ve gotten 3 goldfish from somebody who could no longer take care of them. They are in this tank temporarily and I have a pond that they will be going into as soon as I’m sure they’re all okay, but this one has some strange lumps on him. His body shape also seems strange to me. The other two look very happy and healthy, but I’m unsure about this one. I’m not sure what their tank parameters were like, don’t know how long he has been like this either. their owner was physically disabled and no longer able to perform water changes for a very long time, and their water level had just been getting lower and lower, and their water was very dirty. Very nice big tank though at least. There is still two more fancy goldfish there that I will take soon and find new homes for once these guys have gone into the pond.
Wondering what you guys think these are. Tumours? Parasites? Infection of some kind? Would love some ideas on what they are and how to potentially treat them if you think they are harmful or could possibly spread to my other fish, or if the others could also be infected. Hope he is okay because he is very cute haha

Questions I have a hypothetical question about goldfish and tank size

Hypothetically would a 20 gallon aquarium be suitable for a fancy goldfish if the water was able to be kept adequately clean, so in short answer if one fancy goldfish had the bio load of one neon tetra would a 20 gallon aquarium work? No I'm not planning on keeping the goldfish in a 20 gallon aquarium, no I do not support it especially for a fish that's more than 4 in (I give a bit of Grace if it's still a tiny baby) this is just a fully hypothetical question because it's 3:00 in the morning can't sleep and had a random thought come in my head

Tank Help Suggestions please

I want to change the bottom of my tank. I don’t want to do a traditional substrate bottom. What out of the box tank bottom coverings do yall do? I don’t wan to use sand dirt or gravel. I was thinking slate tiles but that’s pretty heavy for a big tank. Or if you go bare bottom what types of decor do you use? Thank you!
