Wtf just happened

About 3 days ago i visited my parents house. Its summer so they keep the attic open to allow the heat to rise.

They live in an old victorian village near an abandoned burial ground. My younger cousin is always saying he is seeing ghosts but i was skeptical since i had not experienced anything. Just like any other night the internet was crap. I got up to turn on the lights but they wouldnt turn on . I looked outside not even the lampost was on. Then i realised my whole streets power completely shut down. I thought nothing of it and went back to bed. Suddenly i woke up later on needing to use the bathroom. I grabbed my phone to use the torch but it was dead. So i decided to just go. I walked in it was pitch dark but i didnt really care. I slowly opened the door unaware of my surroundings. Out of the corner of my eye i see a faint glow from above. I look up revealing the faint shape of the attic door. I stare for a second then blink. I swore i saw a white mass pass over the doorway. I thought it was in my head untill it began to happen every night.

I left the house still not sure what it was. What is your thoughts?

Shared paranormal experience

Hey, I’m writing this to see if anybody has had a similar experience because I haven’t heard of two people experiencing the same paranormal experience, especially if it’s something that can be knocked down to a hallucination or a trick of the light.

This was probably two years ago now, but I was driving in upstate South Carolina through a very wealthy neighborhood after I had seen a movie with one of my close friends and it was probably about 12:30 AM. While driving through this neighborhood, it’s a shortcut to mine, I was being weary of going over speed bumps and was probably driving at about 20 miles an hour I was talking and laughing, and my eyes were going back-and-forth from the road in front of me to my friend who I was talking with when I turned my eyes from him to the road for about two seconds I saw somebody standing directly in front of my car on the left side, hypothetically, they would’ve been standing a few feet in front of my left headlight. I slammed my foot on the brakes enough to jolt me and my friend forward and upon stopping and looking up, there’s nobody there nobody on the sidewalk nobody running off and before I could say a word I looked over to my friend and he asked me if I also saw a person…. I asked him if he saw someone standing there and he confirmed he saw someone standing on the left of my car in the road. We both lost the blood from our face and were genuinely terrified. We ended up spending the night together because we did not want to be alone after both witnessing what I believed to be a spirit or manifestation of some type. Nothing else ever happened. I never saw anything like this again, and I haven’t really talked to my friend much about it because it seems to almost be a sensitive topic.

Let me know if you have a heard or experienced something similar! I think about this VERY often and it bothers me quite a bit.

Question For those who believe in ghosts, what was the exact experience that turned you from a skeptic into a believer?"

I used to completely dismiss the paranormal as bad lighting, old houses settling, or overactive imaginations. But lately, I’ve been thinking about how many rational people have that one story they just can't logically explain.

Experience

bus ghost??

Basically, as I was heading home from work I got onto the bus I always go on. The bus looked empty and I sat at the front near the bus driver. I could see all the way into the back and saw no one else on the bus. Right as I got on, I heard a loud wailing and crying noise it sounded like a 40 year old woman crying and sobbing. It was not super loud it sounded like someone was sitting in the back crying. I kept looking in the back to see if someone was on there, maybe a crackhead or something but I couldnt see anyone. I assumed it was someone lying down on the seats at the back so I kind of tried to ignore it. My mind never jumped to paranormal because ive never had an experience like that before. After two stops the bus driver turns around to me and says "maam are you okay." I was like "nahh its not me theres someone in the back." He told me no one else is on the bus and he thought I was lying. He only believed that it wasnt me once I put in on god. It continued and at the next stop he walked to the back and saw no one, he said "dont scare me right now that mustve been you." He was like mid 30s he did not seem like the pranking type he was also really serious too idk. At that stop someone else got on the bus and was just smiling at me and the driver?? maybe it was because our conversation about what was going on was weird but idk. I got off at that stop because I was really creeped out. lmk if anyone has a reasonable explanation.

So this is a real story and im seeking some solutions or advice what can be done this is so confusing and scary at the same time
So this is about my friend , 6years ago she was going to attend someone’s weeding with her mother and she was playing with friends where she fell in swimming pool and at that time there was no water in that pool and the place where she felt someone did suside there just earlier and as she fell there she felt scared and cried alot and she was about to faint there but her mother saw her and took her home. Then she had a dream where 6 people all covered in black came to take her and they even cut her leg so she could not run . Then she had fever for 2 months. And when she consulted with (jotish) witchcraft they told ‘timlai chiyan lagey ko xa’ you are spiritually hunted and to avoid that place and that way.
Then yesterday she had same vision of 6 people in black conming to take her and they cut her leg so she could not run away it was not in dream but while she was awake she saw that ,and at night she felt someone was calling her at that pool . She was so scared she cried the whole night and got insane and there is no clue what to do .

Unusual ghost experience that makes me wonder

Now, I'll probably give a little backstory before I actually tell you what happened a lot throughout my life. Ever since I was a child, I have always creeped out my parents and siblings. I have quite a big family, and we used to live in a decently sized apartment. We lived in quite a remote area, but it was calm. Not like a creepy alleyway covered in poverty and drug dealers or anything, just a normal apartment building with an alright scenery. The building itself was not old or eerie in any way, like the average horror film. It just looked like a cozy, slightly messy nostalgic home.

I was a decently weird kid, I would often sleep walk, sleep talk, scream loudly from dreams or cry until everyone not only in my homes but neighbors would wake up all the time from my reckless noisy habits.

I was the eldest child, so a lot of other families were shocked that the core of my parents problems was me. As you know, the eldest is usually expected to be another mature figure in their younger siblings lives. We went to a lot of doctors to see if I had any psychological problems or just some sort of paranoia of sleeping due to a trauma response. I was giving everything, benzodiazepenes, sedating antidepressants, melatonin. But all my options ran cold eventually, and none of the prescribed ended up helping from my same occurring dream and thoughts.

Now, the weird thing is that the dream step by step is always implanted in my brain. I'm a younger version of myself, playing in a backyard that's unrecognizable. Like I've never seen it before, not in some movie or series. I'm playing with this normal doll which always looks like one of my family members. But once I look down I realize the hands and feet of this doll are bound with heavy chains. I feel the pain from the weight of the item and drop it immediately.

And once I do that, I look silently at the doll for a moment, before feeling a bead of rain drip down my forehead. I turn to look to the side to see this very tall lady looking down at me, but her neck is elongated and her arms reach down to her ankles. She has a mole right in the middle of her chin, and she doesn't have any eyelids at all.

She warns me about something every single dream, whispering down my ear something new every single time. How misfortune was coming my way, or how I was in incredible danger, or that grief would make its way round to me. And after she said that, my neck would build pressure, almost like fingers or a rope tying my neck. I could see my reflection through the droplets on the floor, my face going a darker shade of purple as the pain starts to go through my body. It felt like I was on fire.

And I would wake up, unable to move. And that same woman would be staring me down before putting her finger to her lips and getting closer and closer to my face. Her breath was cold and smelt like rotting animal meat, telling me to not tell anyone about her identity before I would wake up with an extremely sore throat and excruciating leg pain.

After another experience, my mother had taken me to some sort of therapist. On the way she complained about the pricing, and how I should tell him what im experiencing.

As soon as I left the car and was in that room, I cried my eyes out about how this woman scared the living crap out of me. I told him everything, her appearance, her threats. I was scared to death.

But in the end, he told me I should get some melatonin gummies to help with sleep. Like always. The creepy experience is when I had got back.

When I had took my shoes off at the door, I felt like strong rotting smell nearby my room. I felt tears basically roll down my face before I decided to open the door.

A dead badger was left in my room, I don't know how long it could have been there. I watched flies drop on the body, a few maggots still crawling. I walked closer to the body, to see a dirty fingernail right beside the body. It was long and overgrown. The exact same to the woman's who's dug into my neck in my dream. And after that, things in my room would disappear. Important items, like keys or teddy bears I couldn't sleep without. And I would never see them again, just trails of something. Like hair, or a hanging nail. The evidence was always left there, reminding me to never open my mouth again.

A couple years later we moved, and I never experienced that dream again. I actually forgot about what happened entirely until I saw one of my old one on one sessions books with a drawing of this lady. I could never forgot the way her hands tightened around my neck and the smell of her breath on my skin.

Is my apartment haunted or does weird stuff just keep happening for no reason?

Overall, I am not a "woo-woo" person, though I do love horror and Halloween and the IDEA of the supernatural; I just don't know what all I believe about it. But some stuff has been happening in my apartment, and I don't know if it's real or not. It's all little things, but is it possible that it all adds up to paranormal activity?

For background, I've lived in this apartment for about a year. I lived in my last place for 7 years, and a couple of times I thought MAYBE there was some light haunting going on, but it wasn't much. A framed record fell of the wall and shattered twice, and a couple of times I entered a room to find something in the middle of the floor that I didn't put there. But like, funny shit just HAPPENS sometimes, and I am prone to imagination overload and I watch a lot of creepy stuff, so of COURSE that's where my mind goes. Occasionally, I think I feel my dead best friend around (though that's happened less and less with time), and I feel relatively confident (for having no evidence) that this is not my first life; but I have a ouija board, and I have never felt the planchette move on its own. So I'm like...open-minded but skeptical, on the whole.

When I moved to my new apartment a year ago (almost exactly), I pretty immediately felt like there was some kind of different energy here. The whole complex has some minor spooky vibes, but also we're basically in a swamp and there's like Spanish moss draped all over everything, so the Southern Gothic energy is just high here. In my apartment specifically though, there was always a weird energy and sometimes I would hear noises I couldn't explain, and that's always been the case. That wouldn't be enough for me to tell Reddit about it., though

In the last couple of months, a series of things has occurred, and maybe some of them are related, maybe none of them are. I did think a ghost was playing with my tv, because it kept turning on when I was in another room, but eventually I discovered that it's just something that happens when I let my tv go to sleep without powering it down. It fires up just the audio of Netflix (screen does not wake up), and whatever I was watching last on it starts playing. But I feel quite confident now that it's just a weird glitch. Here are the things I haven't been able to come up with an explanation for:

  1. One day, I came home and found all the shampoo and body wash bottles on the shelf in my shower had fallen into the bottom of the tub. My friend and I speculated that maybe there was work being done in the apartment above mine that caused some vibration? Seems unlikely just given where the wall and the shower shelf are, but maybe.

  2. In my kitchen, I have these 4 tiny fake plants on the windowsill, with the blinds behind them so you can see them if you're walking past them outside, but you can't see into my apartment. Well, one day I came home and the plants were like knocked out onto my kitchen counter, like they'd jumped out from behind the blinds. I have no idea how they could have fallen that way.

  3. I was sitting on my couch one day, watching tv, when I started hearing music. I paused the tv, and it sounded like the music was coming from my bedroom. I followed it in and turns out it was the Alexa in there, and it was playing "Vienna," by Billy Joel. I said, "Alexa, why are you playing that?" and he said, "Because you asked me to." I said, "No, I did not," and he was just like, "Oh, sorry about that" and stopped. The weird thing is, I had had that song stuck in my head and was just singing it all around the apartment for days beforehand.

  4. There was a firm, loud knock at my door one afternoon. I took just a second to get my dog in her crate because she freaks out when anyone knocks on the door, but it was literally NOT long. However, when I got to the door, there was no one there. Nothing had been delivered. I looked around the corners and no one was running away or anything. I was like, "Did I get ding-dong-ditched by a very stealthy kid or is one of The Strangers here? Or is this just my ghost doing its thing?"

  5. Last week, I came into my house from being outside and there was a snake lying across the floor in front of my fireplace. (I freaked the absolute fuck out, grabbed my dog and went outside, and then didn't come back in until I had someone to help me. It was gone by then. We never found it, but I had opened the porch door, so maybe it went back out. I've been on edge ever since, just in case he's in hiding.) Today, I came in from outside and there was a small marsh crab in the middle of my living room. Granted, I live basically in a marsh and maybe there's a hole in my screened in porch that has allowed these critters to come in, but could this be related to the Possibly Supernatural Stuff? Snakes and crabs are not exactly bunnies and squirrels. Why is it only creepy critters getting in, and why only recently? Twice within like 3 weeks? (And look, I'm a big animal person, but the outside should stay outside if that's where it lives. Why are they being drawn to me like I'm some kind of dark Snow White?)

  6. I got back a week ago from traveling for 7 days. I was about to take a shower, but I lifted one of my towels so I could move it from the rack on the wall to throw it over the shower curtain, and it was already wet. Wet like I'd JUST used it to dry myself after a shower, but I certainly hadn't used it in the week I'd been away.

  7. There was a loud banging noise that came from my kitchen the other night. Sometimes I do hear bangs and stuff from the apartments beside and above mine, but I just don't see how this one could have been from another apartment.

  8. Just a little while ago, this picture I have on a bookcase just flew off. Like, I watched it, it was crazy. Just flew off and landed on the floor. It's just a cute drawing of a girl in a red coat next to a fox, and its spot on the shelf is dead center, with a little crate of chargers on one side and a monkey made of a coconut on the other side. It's not like anything would move it or knock into it.

After the picture incident today, I just replaced the picture onto its shelf and said out loud something along the lines of, "If there is someone here, I'm not sure what you want. If there's something you need or want to tell me, I'm not picking up on it. I'm curious, but I don't know what your goal is. As long as you don't mean me any harm, I have no problem with you being here, but please don't destroy my stuff."

So what do we think, gang? Is this a mischievous ghost? Is something trying to reach out to me? Are there environmental explanations for all of it? I just don't know what to think. If you DO think it's supernatural, what should I do about it? Sage the apartment? Just talk to it? Haul out the ouija board and try again? Just looking for insights and advice. Like I said to the potential spirit, it's cool with me as long as it doesn't mean me any harm, but is there something I should be doing for it? Let me know what y'all think.

I still dont know what that thing was, and why it want me to look at it

For context, I'm from Taiwan, and this happened during my last year of high school.

That year everything in my life collapsed. Within a few months, my Granny and my pets died , and my family kind of fell apart because of it. while I still had to study for my college entrance exams through all of it. I was so worn down that I basically felt like a walking corpse. I wasn't really feeling anything anymore.

One day after school I was walking home. The sky was that warm orange color you get at sunset. There were cars, people talking, kids laughing, all the normal after-school stuff. But I couldn't feel any of it, so I just kept my head down and kept walking, just wanted to get back home and sleep through my life.

There's an elementary school I have to walk past every day on the way home. When I got to it, everything changed.

All the noise just stopped. The traffic, the laughing, all of it, gone. Even the air felt like it wasn't moving. And everything in my sight turned black and white.

I was about to look at the road to see where all the cars and kids went, and out of the corner of my eye, I noticed something.

Inside the school wall, in this black-and-white world, there was a human-shaped thing, maybe two stories tall, glowing a faint fluorescent color. My first thought, weirdly, was that it looked like one of those inflatable tube guys they put outside stores in America. And it was dancing.

I frozed. I walk past this place every single day. How was this thing here? What was it? Why was it dancing?

While I was standing there trying to decide whether to turn and actually look at it, it stopped moving.

Then I started to feel seeing it in my head, and I could feel that it wanted me to look at it. And somehow I just knew that I should not do that. and I have to pretend that I havn't seen it, or I'd be stuck here, in this world, accompany it. So I kept walking and acted like nothing happened.

But I could still see it in my head the whole time, it is watching me. I could even see it bending its body out over the wall to keep looking at me as I kept walking. And the whole time, something in my head kept telling me to look at it.

The second I passed the end of the school wall, everything came back. The orange sunset, the birds, the cars, the kids sound, all at once.

I just stood there. Then I turned around. There was nothing there. Just kids, parents picking them up, and the cram school teachers waiting.

It felt like a dream, like it couldn't have been real. But the cold sweat at the back of my neck, says otherwise

I still have no idea what it was. It's been a few years now and I've never seen it again.

Question The Kitchen Incident

I've had a lot of paranormal experiences since childhood, and my family has a long history of paranormal experiences as well. On my dad’s side, his mom was a curandera (priestess), and he has had some crazy things happen to him. On my mom’s side, she is very religious, but she has a lot of horrible dreams that won’t let her sleep. I went through a period of time where dreams would also scare me right out of bed and just wouldn't leave me alone. My sister never experienced anything like that in her twenties, but once I started sleeping in her room out of fear of those dreams and whispers, she too started hearing a voice in the middle of the night. Strangely, the only time it would happen to her was when I was there with her.

But this all started way back in our first house, and although I was too young to remember anything remarkable myself, I relied on my siblings and my parents for the things they experienced in that house that were not normal. My dad saw shadow figures, my older brother saw a little girl he originally mistook for one of us, my mom and older sister heard a scream inside the house, and my older sister once felt AND saw a hand moving behind her pillow when she was a kid.

However, once I got older, we moved to another house where I could finally confirm through my own experience that ghosts and spirits exist. Because this was my normal, these ghost encounters never left a huge impact on me.

But this one did.

Fast-forward to when my older sister and I were teenagers, around 2018-2019. I still remember exactly what we were watching on the TV in our living room: Criminal Minds, Season 9, Episode 19. It was the episode where Morgan was interviewing a lady and testing to see if she had OCD. Out of nowhere, we heard our small dog barking. We ignored it at first because he always barks. But a few minutes later, our big dog started barking, and that alerted us because he only does that when there is an actual threat.

My sister and I just looked at each other, confused. A few seconds later, we heard our big dog running from the dining room into the kitchen. There is a mini hallway that connects the kitchen to the living room; we couldn't see into the kitchen yet because it was on the left, but we could see that mini hallway. That is exactly where we saw our big dog walking backwards. Suddenly, we heard him yelp and jump back. My big dog isn't the type to whine out of fear, he's a guard dog. But, the only time he ever makes that sound is when he’s been kicked.

My sister and I stood up from the couch, no longer out of confusion, but out of anger because our dog had just been kicked. My sister grabbed our big dog, and I grabbed our smaller one. As we did, we avoided looking toward the kitchen. I could see my sister struggling to keep our big dog from pulling back in that direction.

We started talking, the TV was still on, the dogs were barking, and everything was incredibly loud when suddenly my sister said she heard something coming from the dining room. She told me to pause the TV. I did, and we stayed completely quiet. Our big dog started growling.

Then, we heard footsteps. They were heavy, boot-like steps, and they were walking extremely slow. What really freaked us out was the fact that our kitchen floors were a little sticky at the time; whenever you walked on them, they made a sticky sound. Those footsteps had that exact same sound, as if a real, physical person was walking across our kitchen floor. For a second, my sister whispered to me, “What if it’s an intruder?” We both knew that wasn’t the case, but in that moment, we wanted to think logically.

The footsteps stopped walking, and we felt a heavy presence that did not feel human. To me, it felt like the energy of an older man.

Terrified, we started reading scriptures from the Bible. My sister went first, trying to imitate the way my mom prays with a strong, confident voice. But in that moment, we didn’t sound strong or confident at all. Our voices were shaking. For some reason, we started feeling incredibly tired, like our energy was being depleted. I went next to pray from the Bible, and I too started to feel my energy weaken. Of course I was scared, but I tried to stay strong and not let my anxiety take over.

No matter what we did, I could still feel its presence. Then, I heard it walking again. At the same time, we heard the plates in the sink clanking as if they were being moved, and we even started hearing noises upstairs. Then it stopped, and I noticed the footsteps were getting louder. I told my sister, “It’s getting closer” All we could hear were those footsteps slowly getting closer and closer, until they stopped right where the wall blocked our view. It was closer than it had ever been before.

In that moment, I felt like it was mocking us. It felt like it was telling us it knew we were afraid, and that I wasn't strong enough to pray or face it. The next thing I knew, we were on our knees. I felt so tired. My sister told me to call our parents while she continued to pray. My mom answered, and I explained everything to her. My sister then started playing gospel music, and as I stayed on the phone with my mom and dad, I suddenly felt like the presence was no longer there.

When my parents finally arrived, we booked it out of the house without looking behind us. I saw my parents walking up to the door. They came inside, and my dad went straight to the kitchen, slamming the walls and yelling at it to get out (although it was already gone) while my mom started praying.

After that day, we ended up with PTSD from unfamiliar footsteps. A week later, we heard our dad walking up the stairs in his work boots. It sounded exactly like what we had heard that night, and it made both of us completely freeze.

One last thing that makes this even crazier: a day or two before this incident, I had a dream. In the dream, my sister and I were in a dark, foggy place. From a first-person perspective, I saw a large shadow figure wearing boots coming toward us, I could only see its bottom half. Both of us were kneeling, holding hands, and praying. I slightly closed my eyes in the dream, opening them just a bit to see it walking toward us until it stood right in front of us. Then the dream ended.

I know this seems unbelievable, but I truly want to know why this happened to us. I want to know what this entity could be, because I’ve never encountered one like it before. Out of all my family, my mom is the most religious, but we all believe in God. Yet, it has been bugging me ever since. Why did it do what it did? Why did it feel like it was mocking us? Why could I feel its presence so clearly and feel like it was a man? And why did that dream predict exactly what happened to us?

Since then, other things have happened, but nothing quite like that. Present day, we are in a new house and have had no paranormal activity here, well, just once, but that was outside the house (a story for another day). Hearing audible footsteps from a spirit is insane to me. If it weren't for my sister being there with me that day, I would have second-guessed myself and felt like I was going crazy, or that it was all just a dream. But it was real, and I will never forget it.

Chill ghosts?

For context i live with just me and my dad in the mountains, It’s an old native American area and we regularly poke our noses into haunted places probably bringing a lot home with us. We’re very aware of that fact and don’t really mind apart from when something too crazy happens and we sage or cleanse.
Well, i’ve been having a lot of people over lately ghost hunting my house because of how haunted it is and i think we accidentally taught whatever is here how to turn music on… We usually tell them how to interact with equipment and that they can touch certain equipment to make noise but i forgot to think my house has 3 Alexa’s that make noise when you touch them 🤦‍♀️
It’s not terribly scary but it’s a bit of a startle when nobody’s home and music we’ve never listened to turns on two rooms over. I’ve already verified nobody is turning it on through any kind of app or fidgeting with a separate Alexa by locking everyone out of the app and trying to recreate it but i can’t. ( plus my dad isn’t exactly IT, he barely knows how to make it work normally let alone use it to mess with me).

Has anyone ever experienced this before with spirits just jamming out or just my house?

Experience Cabin 102

Hey everyone. First post

Let me begin by providing some context. I was a sailor for years, found myself doing a repositioning voyage from NZ to Spain for a fairly old vessel bought by a shipping company, about 3 years ago. Joined vessel in Wellington, we were alongside for about 3 weeks before we began the voyage, which took 5 months (we made port regularly, and had a couple weeks where we had to do repairs)

Ship was Baltic design, so designed for short runs, with many passengers and freight. Not really intended to be at sea for more than 2 days. Miracle the ship stayed together between NZ and Spain, let alone doing a voyage from Estonia to NZ 20 years prior. I digress

We were crossing the Atlantic, the final stretch of our voyage. Chief Officer asks me to count all the mattresses and assess their condition. Weird reques for a junior OOW, but it was one of those rubbish jobs they'd been putting off all voyage. I of course said yes, and inbetween watches I'd do it alongside inspecting fire extinguishers.

There were a set of cabins in Deck 8, up forward of the accommodation. I used to hate these alleyways anyways, they were lit quite poorly and smelt super off. I had entered Cabin 102, which was an interior cabin. No windows/portholes, so when it was dark, it was pitch black. The cabin smelt very odd- a mixture between burnt plastic and damp is the best way I can describe it. But it was exceptionally clean in there. And I mean, very clean. No dust, no rust in the bathroom, carpet was cleaner than even the cabins in use

I had this feeling of complete and utter discomfort. Like where you stop in your tracks and you feel something you can't quite put your finger on. Almost like deja vu. I checked the mattress, and noticed there was a large black mark, all across the bottom of the mattress. I noted it down, thought it was a burn or mould or something. As I was looking at this, the second bed (which could be stowed upright) had unlatched and come down to hit me in the back of the head. I swore and left the cabin, went up to have a cigarette. I realized I'd left my helmet down there, which I needed to get onto the deck and have a smoke.

So I returned down there, and placed neatly outside of the door, I found my helmet. I thought in the moment that I must've left it outside- problem is, I hadn't. It was left on the mattress inside the cabin, and I was absolutely sure of this. And I had the only set of keys for the cabins- so it couldn't have been another crew member.

When i realized this I was pretty unsettled. Got in with the rest of the job, but the weeks that followed I had terrible dreams. Dreams of drowning, of rot/mould I couldn't get off my skin and a real deep feeling of being watched. When we had reached Spain, we had professional cleaners come aboard to prepare the cabins for service. One of the cleaners, had been into 102, and reported to us it was an absolute mess. Mirror had fallen off and broken, mattress on the other side of the cabin, and flooding in the bathroom. No other cabin was like this

So.. whatever the hell was in 102. I doubt it was kind, friendly or well intentioned

the screams

I believe in the paranormal for the most part but i could usually brush incidents like using a stupid ghost hunting app and thinking the info it gives us are just conicidenes ( sorry for my horrible spelling) but this case i'm not quiet sure this sort of thing happened twice which has me puzzled but here we go the first time I was outside it was dark right outside the front door but then I hear a man scream at the house next to me so I decide its best for me to head back inside now I have no idea what this was for the most part I have seen all my neighbours after this incident and was just a bit scary maybe someone hurt themselves doing something in the dark but the second time this happened I don't think that's the case. it was a nice evening and I was setting up for an upcoming fishing trip tying knots and it was peaceful until I hear screams from across the road to my other neighbours they were screams and crys of help I was frozen in fear and then the screaming stopped I quickly finished and headed back inside I hope these incidents were paranormal beacuse other than that espicially for the second incident I might need to call someone.

Question What's the most terrifying thing you saw on trips or in abandoned houses that made you never want to go back?

Personally, I'm terrified of places with a bad vibe, and sometimes you stumble across something really interesting, but it all leads to something terrifying.

I've never been to an abandoned house, but I'd love to know what they found there, if they ever did.

a few short tales of mine, all these actually happened (believe it or not)

1: the Skinwalker:

one day when i was 10 in a living room doing a puzzle or something, i dunno, anyways i was in the living room when my sister walked in, she said "wait weren't you just in the hallway" i said "no" then my big siter siad "well i saw you in the hallway" wierd, then a few months later i was in my room with the door locked, but my sisters said that i was on the padio, when we loked there on the padio I WASN'T THERE, then on the halloween when i was 11, i saw my sister walk into her room, WHEN SHE WAS IN MOM AND DAD'S ROOM, and finally just a few months ago today i was awake at 10 PM getting a cup of water when i heard my big sister's voice "hello" my sisters and i think it is a skinwalker

2: the wasp: this one is not as long as "the skinwalker" but still is pretty kinda good, when i was 10 or so my family was going to a park, but before we went my little sister got stung by a wasp, so my mom did what any reasonable parent would do... BURN IT ALIVE WITH A BLOWTORCH, and then the wasp fell down 50-100 feet, then my big sister and i went to look at it and the wasp was still alive, for about 5 seconds, and it was already on fire for 25 so the wasp survived 30 seconds of extreme heat

3: bruised then broken: when i was seven years old i was riding on my scooter around the neighborhood, my brain said "i am going to crash" my whole body said that too, and i though "maybe i won't crash" and i crashed and bruised my right arm, a few months later it healed for my cousin's 10th birthday, it was at a tampoline park, and then this happened there, my little sister saw my big sister jump on a trampoline, so my little sister decided to go on the trampoline too i'll spare you the details and her leg was broken, strange huh, on the same day my arm healed from being bruised myu little sister broke her leg

BONUS STORY: the time my little sister almost burned the house down: so it was my parent's 17 years together aniversery, and they went out on a date, and my little sister decided she wanted to make a cake, she had two options: either get supervision from my big sister and I, or just put flour in a boewl put watter in the bowl and put it in the microwave, i'll svae you the details and my little sister almost burned down the house

Experience My old supernatural experiences. What are your thoughts on this? Has anything similar happened to you?

I would like to tell you about the paranormal experiences of my childhood.

One of my first such memories dates back to around 1995: I was standing in the living room, it was broad daylight, and there standing opposite me, slightly sideways, was a very tall man, dressed in the kind of clothes that peasant farmers in Hungary wore in the first half of the 1800s. He had a hat, a mustache, a dark, old-fashioned coat, vertically striped and baggy trousers that he tucked into the legs of his boots. He had dark hair and pale skin. He was over 2 meters tall. He stood straight, like that. His appearance gave a somewhat statuesque effect. He was so lifelike, as if he had been a flesh-and-blood person. (He must have been in his fifties.) Later it turned out that my dad had also seen this ghost at that time. He also described it as having the same appearance. According to him, the ghost followed him with his gaze, so he reacted to him, noticed him.

My other supernatural experience dates back to around 1997: I was walking down the street with my mom during the day and noticed a man on the other side who was sweeping, crying and shouting, then suddenly angrily threw the broom and started banging on the door of a nearby house while crying and shouting desperately. He was a short, muscular, broad-shouldered man with dark, slightly long hair and a large mustache. He was wearing a sailor-striped T-shirt and jeans. I told/showed my mom that "there's a crying, screaming guy over there," but she didn't see anyone. Later, we told my dad the story and described the man's appearance to him, and it turned out that he knew the man in question, but that he had died shortly before I saw his ghost.

I have another such memory from the 1990s, but I can't date it exactly: I woke up one night to find a white light-emitting, oval object about 1 meter in diameter floating in one place in my room. It made a piercing, buzzing sound, accompanied by a vibrating sensation that went through my body, every inch of me. It wasn't ball lightning, it didn't leave any burn marks anywhere, and I didn't get hurt.

My closest paranormal experience was in the spring of 2004: I woke up. It was dawn, but it was getting a little light. I noticed something standing on the other side of my room, looking at me. It was human-shaped, but not human. It had huge, white eyes that were shield-shaped, with long, reptilian pupils. There were two small holes in his nose, his mouth was a thin strip that curved downwards, as if he was sad. His head was bumpy, covered with protrusions. His neck was long and square. He was thin, and about 175-180 cm tall. His skin was brown and a bit slimy. I was so scared that I hid under the blanket in fear and felt vulnerable. My heart almost jumped out of its place, it was beating so hard. Then I carefully looked out from under the blanket, and the creature was still standing there. Then I hid under it again, and when I looked out from under it, it had disappeared. These were the most interesting supernatural experiences I have had.

Unfortunately, my English is poor, so I used Google Translate, sorry about that.

A multitude of ghost stories

Never really used reddit before, but I love discussing these things with people, trouble is, no one in my life wants to talk about it with me, so im here!

I should probably start off with some context. My grandpa (moms side) (71M) either built or moved into his house when he was around 20? My grandpa put the house in my moms (49M) name a few years back, and when she passed, the house was given to my oldest brother, who ill refer to as Alex (24M) Over the years, 3 people, and four dogs have passed in the home. My grandma (moms side), some random guy, and my great grandpa (moms side), my grandmas three dogs (lucky, chester, and one I forgot the name of), and my moms dog (gizmo).

The random guy (who I do not know the name of) committed in the garage of the home. The garage is located in the backyard, right behind the washroom. My great grandpa passed in the very same mattress my mom used to sleep on. (She put another, newer mattress on top, dw.) My grandma passed in her and my grandpas bedroom. My moms dog passed in her room, lucky and the other two dogs in the living room.

That being said, the house has seen a lot of death and whatnot. Now for the real reason im writing this.

My grandparents were very religious people. My mom grew up being forced into religion. However, she was also a rebellious daughter, therefore, she dabbled in what most might call "witch activities", dont leave yet! She could sense, see, even hear things others couldnt. I know the moderators said dont mention anything about sleep paralysis, but my mom, on multiple occasions, met the same two demons in her dreams.

She told me about a specific encounter, she saw two orbs swirling around her, screaming at her in blood curdling screams, saying things like "get out" "die", basically the normal things youd hear in a horror movie. My mom, not know what to do, screamed back, "In the name of the Jesus Christ, in the name of the Lord, leave this house." With one final scream, she woke up.

I believe she said that was the start of everything. Many nights, she said she'd be laying in bed, reading or watching a scary story on Reddit or YouTube. She said almost nightly, she'd hear small whispers in her ears (sometimes she'd hear AND feel someone blow into her ear, rather than a whisper), or feel someone grab her. She told me she didn't exactly mind the whispers, so she ignored them, but when someone would grab her, she'd tell them, or it, to lay off.

She described one time, whatever it was straight up hugged her, and she told it if it touched her again, she'd kick it out. Apparently, it worked, because it never touched her again. Another time, she said she had fallen asleep with her blanket loosely around her. She had woken up in the middle of the night to something tucking her in, just at the end of her bed, by her legs. She fully believed it was her grandpa (great grandpa) taking care of her after she broke her hip.

(Ive failed to mention up until this point that she and my dad got divorced when I was 3, she moved back in with her parents after the divorce, to this house, which was also her and her brothers childhood home. A little before she passed, Alex moved in with her and my grandpa, grandma already having passed, my mom and Alex shared a room, my mom on a bunk bed she bought for me and my other brother, who ill refer to as Andy, (20M) when we stayed the night, Alex on a mattress on the ground. My mom and I shared the bottom bunk up until she passed.)

Now for my personal experiences.

At my grandmas funeral, my moms cousin brought my mom a dog, knowing my mom had been wanting one since snowball (the cat my grandma had, which had taken a liking to my mom after the fact) and gizmo had passed. We still have the dog, Zoe, who is now Alex's.

A few years ago, in between the time of my grandmas death and my moms death, I was over at my moms (Andy skipped), and I was laying on the bottom bunk. my back was to the bedroom door, my dog (Zoe) at my feet. Everyone else (Alex, mom, and grandpa were all in the living room.)

The bedroom door is a heavy wooden door, meaning no draft can just push it open. You have to physically push it, however its broken, so it doesnt latch. Minding my business, I hear the door open from behind me. I expect my mom or brother to come in. No one did. Almost as soon as the door opens, my dog gets up, and looks towards the small walkway between the mattress on the floor and the bed frame.

I turn back expecting someone to be standing in the doorway, especially if no ones walking in, only to be met with the door. Still slowly opening, no one there. I should mention the cat, Snowball used to push the door open to cuddle with my mom. The door was open about the same amount it would be open when he would come in. My dog starts staring towards the void (above Alex's bed, towards the dresser on the other side of his mattress), alert. Freaking me out even more, she starts growling. She started to pace along the edge of the bed, looking at one spot, growling, before her growl turned into a whine, and she freaking leaves me.

My second story is so terrifying, I start crying every time I retell it, so bear with me here.

I was spending the night this time. Our sleeping arrangements were: Alex on the mattress on the floor, my mom and I on the bed, her head to the door, feet towards me, on the outer edge, my feet towards her, head towards the window/wall, on the inner edge. Usually, Andy would be on the top bunk, but he skipped this visit. (Not sure why I didn't just sleep on there then, maybe I just liked my moms comfort? I was young, and anyways, Im sure it would have made this experience much more terrifying.)

So anyways, I was usually the first to fall asleep, since, like I said, I was young, and both Alex and mom had insomnia, so they took gummies or medicine to sleep. I want to say it was maybe 3:30 am, maybe 4, but I remember it being well into the early early morning late late night.

Im not exactly sure why I woke up, but I did, and when I did, I immediately froze in fear. Now, I wanna say the bedroom door is maybe seven feet tall, an extra two feet above it till it meets the ceiling. What I saw was taller than the doorway. It wasn't sleep paralysis. I could move. I moved to hide from this thing, and to check the time before I even saw it.

What I saw was standing inside the room in the doorway, the door closed behind it. It was pitch black, darker than the room around it, which is horrifying in itself, because every light was off, and the window is blacked out with two different blankets.

Whatever the hell it was had glowing dark red eyes. Just bright enough to tell they were glowing, just dim enough to not be able to make out anything else. Its body was inhumanly skinny, like a thin branch on a tree, and completely black.

Its head was freaking elongated, like a foot long, and it stretched maybe 4 or 5 inches past the door frame. Safe to say, just the image of it was enough to have me almost pissing the bed. As if it couldnt get any worse, it did. This thing fucking reached out towards me.

Everyone else was asleep, I was the only one awake to witness it, so why not reach out towards me. Its arm and hand were the same as its body, extremely skinny. It had what looked to be claws, still all completely black. Being young, I did what any young child would do, I hid myself under the blanket, told myself I was dreaming and tried to sleep. I really dont know when I fell asleep, but it was a long time after.

I know many are going to say this was just my imagination playing tricks on me, but I felt it. I woke up for some reason and saw this thing. Why would I just wake up randomly and see this thing, other than the fact my body felt it?

And, somehow, theres more.

In the room, theres also a wash room. However, the washer and dryer dont work anymore, so after my grandma passed, my mom and Alex closed it off with clothes and old boxes and whatnot. Alex was quick to brush this off, but obviously it messed with him enough, because he told my mom and I this.

He said he was doing something in the room, I think getting a book for my mom to see, when he heard a growl from the laundry room. No one else was in the room, my mom now sleeping on a hospital bed in the living room due to reasons I wont state, but were ultimately the reason of her death. The dog and my grandpa in the living room with her.

He didnt hear it again, just that once, and he described it as: "Deep, and mean. Like it had a point to get across? It was gravely almost, and eerily sounded human." (His words) He tried to brush it off as maybe a raccoon or a squirrel, maybe even a rat (bruh..) since the walls had holes in them previously from rats chewing through.

I think thats all the stories from that house, if I remember more Ill update!

However, that isnt all the stories I have, as I have (unfortunately) a few more from my mom and dads house before they divorced and while I was living there before we moved.

A little context, when I was maybe one or two, my brothers (i think 10/11 and 7/8) along with my cousins (all around the same age as my brothers, hate being the youngest cousin) decided it would be fun to do the Ouija board. Im not sure if it was legitimate, all I know is my brothers say the little center piece moved, and they all got freaked out, and took their hands off without saying goodbye.

Maybe that invited something, maybe it was the land, maybe the house was already haunted before, who knows.

Fast forward, Im now 4 or 5. A lot of the time, I would play with my toys in my room, being the youngest with no school yet, and the only girl in the household, besides when my cousin or grandma (dads side) would come over. Almost every day, I would look up and out of my door, and see a fully black shadow figure run past. It was always a blur, just slow enough to notice it.

I never got a good look at it, until one day. This day in particular, Alex was in his room down the hall, playing video games, Andy in his room across the house, doing the same, and my dad at work. This day in particular, I looked up to see the same figure, but this time standing in my door way.

From his height and size alone, I wanna say he was maybe 7. He was just there, staring at me. He didnt move, didnt speak, nothing. When I got up to say hi, investigate or whatever, he bolted. Right down the hall towards the front door and my brothers room.

The way the house was built, you had the front door, with a very noisy screen door, Alex's room right across from it, a narrow hallway in between, my room in the middle of it, my dads room at the opposite end, the living room on the other side of the hallway wall.

I thought maybe Alex had a friend over, and went to his room, but when I went and asked, no one was there, and in a very brotherly way was thrown out of his room with a few yells. I figured I would have heard if the boy left, since like I said, the screen door was very noisy, so my four year old self came up with the idea a shadow family was living in our walls. Then I didnt think much of it. Till I mentioned it to my mom years later.

My mom retold her story to me after hearing mine. Basically, when my parents were still together, my mom was laying in their bed, my dad still at work. She was sipping wine and reading, a favorite hobby of hers, when she looked up because she heard a noise.

In the door way of her bedroom, she saw the same little boy. Thinking it was Andy, she called out. Instantly, he bolted down the hall. My mom got up and checked all over the house, finding Alex and I asleep. When she went to his room finally, Andy was also asleep. When she tried to wake him up to ask him questions, he was fully asleep. Im talking deep sleep. She literally could not get him to wake up.

When she mentioned it to him in the morning, Andy swore he had been in his room, asleep all night.

I think the scariest part of this whole story is that, my dad, whos not a very big believer, and hates to listen to or read anything about the paranormal because its "all fake", says he saw this little ghost boy too. The same can be said for Alex, who is an atheist, but still believes the things ive told him and my mom have told him.

So, thats all the stories I have so far, or that I can atleast remember right now. If you read this far, thanks! Im soso sorry if this was wack and all over the place, I tried to give as much context as possible to help readers understand, but to also keep enough privacy for me and my family. If you have any clarifying questions, or any questions at all, or even suggestions as to what me or others have experienced, feel free to say them.

Encounter saw a shadow person at my old work place

i used to work at a museum/heritage site in london. it has a lot of history, and the people who lived and worked in it during the second world war must have been STRESSED.

anyway, on several occasions i saw a black figure - tall and slim, no distinguishable features, just literally a shadow - out of the corner of my eye in the staff corridor. it would just stand there or it would pass between the walls, but when i looked, it would be gone. the corridor is always ICE COLD mind you, when the rest of the museum has horrific ventilation.

thought nothing of it - that i was hungover/tired on these occasions - until another staff member mentioned she’d seen it too. worth noting i hadn’t told anyone about it.

throughout my childhood, i used to see a shadow woman in the doorway of the bathroom. she’d be hunched over, hooded, with long hair, hobbling towards me but never getting beyond the bathroom doorway. as a result i started sleeping with my door closed, haven’t seen her since.

my question is, why do we see these shadow people? what are they? are they like regular ghosts or something else? do they show themselves when we’re particularly vulnerable or emotional? do i need to be more spiritually open in order to see them as a full apparition type rather than a solid black human shape?

i’m also confused as to why i’ve seen two now in my 20-something years on this earth, and they both looked and presented themselves very differently
