Yo, GBA Nation! A reminder about Demons of Asteborg DX

Just a reminder that Demons of Asteborg DX for the GBA is releasing any time now

So developers haven't announced an official release date yet, but they said the GBA versions may start shipping any time now even before the pre order campaign ends on August 10. As they're currently waiting for materials from their suppliers.

If y'all interested in more new physical games for the GBA, I think this is a great opportunity to show support and other developers might follow.

(there is a demo available btw https://neofidstudios.itch.io/demons-of-asteborg-dx )

GameCube to GBA Cable - Pokémon trading

Definitely need some help in this one. I’m attempting to trade Pokémon between my Wii and my SP with emerald . I’ve been running into issues *I think because of my Gba cable.

From all the troubleshooting. I saw that these cables should have 6 gold pins on both GC and Sp. Picture one is the cable I own and showing 3 gold pins on the GC plug in . Yes I have the official Nintendo’s cable. However doesn’t work or even shows connection to GC in phenax city.

Picture 2 is a different ” official cable from eBay but only has 2 ish gold pin .

Picture 3 is a 3rd party cable . from a friend that confirmed it works for his transfer of Pokémon between colosseum and emerald . It has a total of 5 pins

My main question is - is the cable the source of my issue and has anyone else experienced this with a official cable? how many pins does your cable (that works obviously) have?

Region Differences - Medal of Honor

Every video I've seen on MoH - Underground has been the US version. It's considered "unplayable" and one of the worst FPS on GBA.

I tried the EU version and it's so different. It isn't pixelated and glitchy and has good framerates. According to the MoH Fandom the eu version was released 7 months after the US. So they had plenty of time to fix the bugs.

I was wondering if anyone knows other games where the european version is superior. Maybe it's just MoH, because it was received so poorly?

ETA: Someone requested to see example. Below You can see glitches in textures. Misplaced textures. Also textures hugely offset and rescale as the player moves in the US version. Horrible pixelation. European version OTOH has no floor textures at least in the first couple of levels. I haven't played any further yet.

Are there even fakes of Drill Dozer out there?

Drill Dozer having this special rumble cartridge is harder to fake than the normal GBA cartridge.

Is it safe to say every copy sold on eBay is an original?

r/GameboyAdvance 1d ago

Found this for a good price but unfortunately no rumble

New to replacing capacitors, first gameboy had a melted puddle of red here and this one has two circles of a lighter red. Looking for someone who knows more to share any info about if it's leakage, etc. I would love to learn. Thank you!

10 game console series, where to start?

So I’ve started a little series where I play 10 games from every retro Nintendo console. I have picked 10 games that interest me where does the gba subreddit think the gba shows its true power in gameplay, story telling, and graphics?

Castellanos Aria of Sorrow
FIFA 07
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Fire Emblem the Blinding Blade
Fire Emblem the Sacred Stone
Golden Sun
Golden Sun the Lost Age
Metroid Fusion
Pokemon Emerald
Summon Night Swordcraft Story

The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past and Four Swords
(Will not start with this as I’ve already played it on the snes)

The only gba game I’ve ever completed is pokemon fire red

Which GBA game has the best graphic?

I am a huge sucker for Pixel art. So I was wondering what the best graphic on the GBA system is.

Is it Minish Cap or is there anything even better?

QUAKE (Game Boy Advance Prototype) | The Story of Quake on the Game Boy Advance Made by Randy Linden

Thumbnail

This is the prototype of Quake for Game Boy Advance made by Randy Linden in 2002. Upon booting the game, we can instantly see how impressive this demo is for the hardware, with its capabilities effectively managing to outshine just about every 3D game out there that was released for the system. Not only that, it feels exactly like a Quake game. From the guns to the environments. You can even dive underwater! The game is fully 3D rendered, rather than the ray casting method most GBA games are known for. It has 3D enemies, animations, and point lighting effects (even on pre-rendered objects like weapons, which use a clever palette-changing trick to achieve the illusion of dynamic lighting). The camera and movement work is equally as incredible; it travels very cleanly, as opposed to being jittery.

GBA carts?

Hey all, thinking of picking up an NES edition GBA near me. Is there a way to put custom roms onto a single cart like a flash cart or something? Never messed around with stuff like this. Thanks.

Edit: Found what I was looking for, thanks everyone!

Does anyone actively stream GBA games?

Basically what the title says. I’ve, of course, seen several Pokemon streams, but does anyone stream/record themselves playing other games, popular or obscure? Is there a weekly broadcast that you follow? I would love to check out something new!

I’ve made some YouTube vids about GBA games and I want to get back into making them. I’m just in the mood to spectate right now.

Charge port was bad. Removed it and lost a pad but appears to be not connected?

Post image

Title says it all. Flea vendor said it worked. It did with a spare battery I have as its was flat. I tried with mine and it wasn’t that. Noticed the port was janky after testing a few oem charge cables. Is this a lost cause?

Legacy of Goku 2 doesn't get recognized in gba_auto_batteryless?

I don't know if this is this right place to post, but I'm trying to flash log 2 onto a bootleg pokemon cart. This process works for every other game I've tried aside from the Classic Nes series. I'm able to patch it to save using sram in gbata but when I put my rom in gba_auto_batteryless, I get this message: "Could not find any reference to the IRQ handler. Has the ROM already been patched?" The game runs but it can't save when I put it on my reproduction. I have 0 idea how to get this game working on my repro. If anybody has a fix, let me know.
